It over 900 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee. Running Water Creek is a unique, fully off grid campground just 20 minutes to downtown Chattanooga. We have 80+ campsites spread out over 120 acres. Most of the roads are accessible in any small car, but some roads require 4x4 (they're marked with a sign). We have a bath house with toilets, showers, and sinks and even offer hot water! Our well and cabins are all solar-powered as we are not on the electric grid. Some info about the property: -we DO NOT have water or power hookups -we have gravel roads with a 5 MPH speed limit on the property (if you drive too fast the roads will seem rough) -we are right next to a highway and train tracks so there will be some noise (some days are better than others and we have no way of predicting how many trains will/will not go by) -none of our campsites have picnic tables (please plan accordingly) -most campsites have fire rings built, but if you choose a site without one you need to build your own

Please be mindful of this. - Please ensure all guests are accounted for within your reservation. Do not flush hygiene products, wipes, nor excessive tissue, EVEN ONES MARKED AS FLUSHABLE, as this will cause a blockage and render all plumbing unusable. - The cabin has a Take One, Leave One library; feel free to bring a book you’re finished reading and trade out for one of ours. - Because this is a rural area, we recommend turning off any lights that are not directly in use, as bugs are very prevalent and attracted to light, especially at night. - We do have a ChargePoint Level 2 EV charger, which is free to use. *This is a J1772 plug, Teslas will require an adapter.* - The inflatable hot tub can reach temperatures up to 104°F. *It must be at least 40°F outside in order for the hot tub to effectively heat.* Due to the nature of inflatable hot tubs, it will lose about 5°F per hour that the lid is off; weather conditions and use of the jets may expedite this cooling. Unlike a traditional hot tub, there are no seats inside. - There are mini-splits for AC/heat. Use the “dry” setting to cool off the space, which also reduces humidity. If it gets too cold, you can switch the units to the “cool” setting or turn off. If you get an error on the mini-splits, ensure they are all on the same setting, as the system cannot heat and cool simultaneously.

Weekend Trip to Mountaintop Farm Cabin

The owner was extremely kind. The trip ended short due to the extreme heat (105 degree temps) and a dry well. The cabin is charming and had amenities for those that forgot items. Curling irons, hair dryers, extra razors, and enough cozy throw blankets to snuggle our entire tribe. The tour of the property was fun and the view was par none. We will be back. Thank you so much for our adventure, even if it was short.

I traveled from California to take my grandkids camping. George was an amazing host!!! He was communicative and flexible. when plans had to change due to medical stuff. The site was well designed and surprisingly well equipped. The camp kitchen had all the basics plus. I have a trailer with all my gear so I was grateful to have all the items forgot readily available. The cabin was bigger than expected. We spent a rainy afternoon playing games and napping. Great combination of convenience and real comping!! We will be back!!!

My bestie and I spent two nights at Fireside Camp in the Cabin on the Bluff, and it was such an incredible experience. Nick and Sydney were perfect hosts! The cabin was clean, cozy, and comfortable, and the views from the bluff were absolutely unforgettable. I highly recommend staying here if you get the chance. There’s amazing hiking and rock climbing just minutes away, and their property is truly beautiful!

Some of the hiking here is not for the timid and overtly rotund individuals amongst us. Walk-in campsites are good if you like primitive. Get there right at check in time to have a good selection of sites to choose from.

In the winter when the leaves are off the trees the park is truly breathtaking. The West Rim Loop Trail is full of spectacular views of the canyon and surrounding land and is one of the best short hikes I've done in the Southeast. Well worth a day visit or an overnight stay.
