The octagon is a private 122 ft.² that is electrified and heated. It has a full size bed, cabinet and table with chairs. It sits next to a brook on 56 acres of forest with a pond, small waterfall, marsh and 2 1/2 miles of hiking trails. There is a fire pit and outdoor dining area next to the octagon. We also have a propane outdoor grill and propane two burner camp stove. Out house with composting toilet close to octagon is heated. A great place to rejuvenate in the forest! Dogs welcome.

The property's backdrop is the lush James Goodwin forest where you can walk directly from to hiking trails. Fall asleep under the magnificent brilliance of the millions of stars, hear nothing but the sound of crickets, croaking frogs, hooting owls; see fireflies light up the night and fall asleep to the sound of the streams running right alongside the property. Watch the ariel acrobatics of the swallows swoop into the barn to feed their chicks! The two streams feed into the huge Natchaug River right across the street which is great for fishing, or spending the day at Diana's pool basking on the rocks with a picnic lunch. The area and property is perfect for hiking, horseback riding, small retreats, family gatherings all the while enjoying nature at its purest.
We offer a Weber grill and large fire pit and outdoor picnic table with umbrella.
You can either sleep in the barn, down in the clean stalls, or up in the barn loft. Bring supplies as if you are camping ie bedding, hammock, tent, sleeping pad or inflatable mattress. There is a long wooden table up in the barn loft that seats 14. There are games up there too, (dominos, cards, trivial pursuit etc). You may also camp outside under the starry skies.

Relax and enjoy all that our farm has to offer. You can enjoy nature and privacy or opt for a more interactive experience and join our morning or evening farm tour where you can interact with goats, sheep, mini-horses, pigs, chickens, ducks, and more.
We are a small family farm where we raise animals and grow flowers/food. Our family home was built in 1739 and is situated near the street entrance.
As you enter the property, you will see two cottages, the oldest corn crib in the county, and a beautifully restored 1800s barn. There is a vintage-style camper to the left of the barn, located in an area where you can have privacy overlooking the pastures.
We live on the property and can assist guests with anything that they might need.
Guests are welcome to stroll around the property and enjoy all it has to offer. We have a farm store and education center opening summer of 2025! Check our website to see classes and offerings that you might take advantage of during your stay.
Please note, that we ask that guests do not enter the barn or fenced pasture without one of the farm owners (Molly & Diego). Our animals are accustomed to people, but livestock is unpredictable, especially to people that they do not know. There is plenty of area outside of the pasture that guests can enjoy. If you opt for a farm tour we promise that you will have plenty of interaction with our many animals.

I needed a place to crash for the night to split up a trip, and this was the perfect set up! I wish I had time to explore the farm more but it was so peaceful the bit I got to saw. Molly was very nice to meet me at the store and I got some amazing local yogurt. A really special spot to check out!

Weekend Trip to Mishnoah Retreat
A friend and I stayed in the Owl Cabin the weekend of the Brimfield Flea Market. It was exactly what we needed after a long day shopping! The cabin was clean, quaint, and charming. The communal restrooms and showers were some of the nicest and cleanest I've seen. We very much enjoyed using the kayaks out on the pond- we saw a bald eagle! It was amazing!! Later that evening we noticed that we were missing some dishes and supplies, and Susan, our host, was very prompt to bring it over to us right away. The fire pit out back was a lovely experience- just what we needed to end our weekend. The cabin has everything you need for amenities to get by for a few days, a small fridge, a flat cooktop with two burners, a coffee maker, dishes and utensils. The beds were also very comfortable and we just loved all the owl decor. Highly recommend this place.

We loved Susan, she was such a great host! So accommodating and sweet. Besides the host, the cabins themselves were nice, cozy, well cleaned, and all around amazing. We were in the owl cabin and it’s closest to the lake, literally less than a minute walk. The lake is so beautiful and Susan even has some kayaks and canoes that you can borrow, she also had so many lifejackets, fishing poles, traps, and gear anyone could freely use. It was so sweet and we will definitely be coming back!

I enjoyed my stay at the Camp. Oiginally, I was supposed to stay in a different cabin, but I was redirected to the 'Chief's Cabin', which was smaller but had a hot shower and plumbed toilet. It was a comfy space and I got a good night's sleep. There is a nice pond, with accessible boats for you to enjoy, and overall the camp is a friendly, peaceful place to enjoy and get away from the city for a bit.

The Owl cabin was more than what I hoped to find for a weekend getaway. It was close to nature, nestled in the forest and had a rustic cabin feel but with all the comforts of home. We had an excellent trip here at MacKenzies Camp site in Sterling, CT. They’ve thought of everything and were very helpful on every account. The beds were comfortable and plenty of bedding. The mustangs and donkeys were a fun site each day. They had games and things to do for the children. Judy came by and invited us to make Terrariums and help feed some of the elderly horses which were letting us pet them and hug on them. What an experience! We didn’t have perfect weather either but it was not a washout so we kept busy and had a great time. They were on top of everything. Would highly recommend

When we saw the Buddha statues on the way in we knew we had picked the right place! We stayed at the octagon and it far exceeded our expectations. There were a few different places to sit and enjoy the woods, the brook, and the campsite. The trail system is really unique and beautiful. The hosts are obviously very artsy and in time to nature as it seemed like they built everything to blend seamlessly into the surrounding forest.
We hope to make this our regular stop whenever we travel to or through this area

The whole site was an amazing forested retreat! Really well decorated and thought out. We stayed at the octagon and it was so amazing to be in nature beside a babbling brook and we loved the trail system. We were using it as a pit stop and wish we had allotted more time to just absorb the ambience.

Weekend Trip to Water Forest Retreat
Tbh I was amazed at how over prepared the hosts were for us, Me And my pregnant girlfriend were treated like royalty they made us feel so welcomed I honestly felt the love the tree house was more than amazing the trail was beautiful and the fishing was fun I will be back 💯🙏🏻

Really nice camp site on the lake. It was a great weekend of camping. The tent site on the lake 1-5 are a bit more private.

The tent sites sat away from the main campground. It was very quiet and private.
All the sites are good site 3, 4 are great sites 5 was a little over grown. The pond is great for a kayak ride.
