History of JW Durango Riverside Resort It all started in 1965… When this campground hosted its first guests the goal back then was simply to offer folks from around the Four Corners a place to relax and lounge along the Animas River. Today, the property boasts 73 quality RV sites, 24 cabins and 6 tent sites. The property sits just south of Bakers Bridge, a local landmark made famous as the set of the climactic finale in the movie “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” – where Paul Newman and Robert Redford sat along the rocky cliffs that line the river before they famously took the plunge. As the lifeblood of this community, the Animas River winds its way under that bridge and south toward historic downtown Durango. Back in 1965, the population of Durango was just over 10,000 and La Plata County almost 20,000. Views for days indeed! The spot is amazing. I’ll definitely be back! Just a note the hookup is 50amp I believe and my van takes 30 hookup plug so I would have needed to bring an adapter to plug in here. Luckily my solar setup worked and we didn’t need elec this trip. Just plan ahead for your plug in needs before you go (totally my fault in failing to notice what kind of plug was on the site).

Nice small campground in a beautiful setting. It was quiet and the host was friendly. A nice stop over for us while traveling north to AZ. We had our 2 border collies with us& there was plenty of room to walk them. The only negative is that the dog park needs some TLC. It was overgrown with weeds, but this alone would not keep us from returning.

Everything is as advertised: views forever, easy access to town and its offerings and hosts are super attentive and very nice. The property sits on a very prominent knob and the road up to the top, even though well built and excellently maintained, is steep. If you or your tow rig are faint of heart, this spot is not for you. We had no issues getting up there and situated but we were prepared. Also note that if your black/gray water dump spout is on the driver side you will need to turn around to use it (dump hole is on your passenger side as you approach the parking spot. Absolutely worth it once you get up there and situated. And worth staying more than one night!

We loved staying at Outdoorsy Bayfield. We had a trailer site on the little river, and then, when I got sick and our trailer needed longer service than expected, we got a glam tent. The glam tents are amazing with heat, a kitchen, and showers! Pros: Facilities were very clean, and the people were very friendly and accommodating. Cons: The campground is right off the road, and there is traffic noise, though much less at night.

1 night at Last Resort on the River

We found this host on a last minute search as we were passing through Pagosa Springs. The location off the maid road and accessibility to water and electric was great! Our spot was right next to a beautiful creek. We heard turkey calls in the evening along with the sounds of the water flowing through the creek. The host was quick to message me and provide me with the location of our site and instructions to WiFi. The only thing we weren’t aware of was that the water to the sites had been shut off due to a freeze warning. We had run out of water in our RV, but the host provided us with bathhouse tokens. Be aware that the showers only run for 8 minutes. Honestly that was plenty of time, I had two minutes to spare! Overall this location was beautiful and peaceful. I would love to come back

4 nights at Views For Days! In Town Durango

This site a private space in the sky, high above the north side of town while still being in town and convenient to all the things the Durango area has to offer. After the hosts welcomed me with a friendly greeting, I was left to privacy, yet knowing they would be available through a quick contact if necessary. Be prepared for a steep, winding, well-graded gravel drive to the site.

Weekend Trip to Last Resort on the River

Gorgeous location by the river, quiet, grassy. The resort has everything like full hookups, a bath house with beautiful showers, fire pits, several playgrounds. Lovely place to just walk and small enough to feel wide open. Most of all the owners were wonderful: accommodating, warm, and very welcoming. As a bonus the last resort is only 20 away from pagosa springs! I would absolutely recommend and we intend to return very soon! Lastly, I rent my trailer on Outdoorsy ands RV Share and intend to share this location with all my clients.

Price was right for us at the time, nice facilities, nice creek, highway was a bit noisy. Be forewarned though as some of their employees are sticklers for their corporate rule mandate . Not all were so rigid but at least two were. Hopefully the hot tub / sauna will be up and running for you

1 night at Last Resort on the River

Loved staying at Last Resort! It was beautiful, peaceful & quiet. We had full hookups & fit our 29 ft motorhome. Stayed here to go skiing at Wolf Creek. Love that it is also close to Pegosa Springs. We love this area! I highly recommend Last resort & will stay here again!
