Lush high desert river oasis nestled in a fertile valley in the Carson National Forest right between the fiery expanse of Taos and the rolling colorful formations of Abiquiu. Peaceful and private 3 acres right by the river at the edge of a little quaint town called La Madera (145 people, no shops)- just 6 miles to the healing mineral Hot Springs of Ojo Caliente, a place of emergence or rebirth as known to the local Natives.
Right by the river, held by a ridge (that makes for amazing sunset hikes), I have a 16ft Yurt Canvas set up with furnishings (desk, couch, wash stand) and a wooden Queen Bed with down bedding. This site can only be reached by foot across the river via stumps- a car can be parked near by.. approx. 50ft.
I also have a Vintage Camper that can be heated, has a kitchen, electricity and plenty of outdoor furniture with a fire pit and serene mountain views. As well as a monastic and very grounding Ensuite Bedroom, or a simple campsite if you want to bring your own camper or tent. All facilities have access to a guest bathroom inside the main house.
I offer dog sitting while you soak at Ojo, healing modalities that you'll find in the Extras section, and my dear neighbor Jackie takes appointments for massages with homemade essential oils.
+++ 6 miles to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. There you will find the best restaurant in the area, with locally/organically farmed produce.
The land is naturally and beautifully wild- it is not a manicured campsite. The dirt rd down to the property is best suited for higher clearance vehicles, but is manageable for city cars.
With land by the river comes the mosquitos- June to August only. They are predominantly active during sunrise and sunset; long loose fitting clothes and a repellent work great.
Waterhole, Waterfall and climbing sites near by, as well as Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and the Taos Gorge are 30 mins drive away.

Set on 5 acres, our property is open to tents and RVs, with three off-grid cabins available for rent. Enjoy plenty of hiking and outdoor adventures in the area. There is no cell service, but WiFi is available near the main house. The connection can sometimes be a bit unstable, so please prepare accordingly.
Our property backs up to state land, offering plenty of outdoor access. We also offer guided tours of the nearby ruins for a small fee. The area is well known for its connection to Georgia O’Keeffe and the landscapes that inspired her artwork.

Beautiful, open land with plenty of trees and sage at 8000' elevation. You will see so many stars on a clear night, and can walk for miles in forested and open wild lands. The area is undeveloped with gorgeous mountain views and is a perfect spot to camp. There are off-grid homes in the general area but they are a good distance from where you will be staying. Dirt roads lead in to your camp area. Bring your tent, food, water and soak in the views and fresh air! 6 miles to Tres Piedras intersection with Hwy 285. 16 miles to Earthship Visitor Center. 18 miles to Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. 30 miles to Taos Plaza. 36 miles to Antonito, Colorado. 37 miles to Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs.

3 nights at Stone House Lodge & RV
We loved how it was tucked away in the mountains. Tons of wildlife! We saw deer, turkeys, HUGE jack rabbits and also heard elk. The staff was VERY nice and the food at the café was also very good. We would definitely stay here again next time were in the area.

The host was very welcoming and went above and beyond to help me find a good place to pitch my tent and made sure I had everything I needed. The site was very peaceful and I slept well through the night. The location is ideal since it is near Taos but far enough away to feel out in the country. The views of the surrounding mountains are great too!

The parking spot was level on gravel, close to the other two campers, but the forest was just up the road where we could walk our dog. Neighbor campers including our host were super friendly. Close to town on the highway. Convenient location.

This spot was perfect. It was in a great location close to the hot springs which is what we go to pagosa for. There are some woods nearby that our dogs had a blast in. Beautiful and peaceful. Totally will come back!

This site is right on the river bank and is super peaceful. We did not have any problems with bugs. The site is set up with full hook ups as well as a little patio with a fireplace and seating. J & T met us upon arrival and were very friendly and informative about local things to do. Getting out was a little tricky (our tt is 27’) but not impossible. We’ll definitely be staying again!

Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to Judah’s campsite on the date I had planned. Judah was gracious and understanding and tried to accommodate my schedule but I couldn’t make it work for this trip. He even refunded my reservation even though I canceled at the last moment. I look forward to camping on Judah’s land the next time I am in the area. I can tell he is a very attentive host.

The camp spot is beautiful and has a great patio area to view the river and local wildlife. We saw blue heron and geese fly the river. The hosts are very friendly and the letter they provide gives a lot of local information. The site now has 30 Amp service and water. I don't believe it had that when we originally booked. Since there is only one spot you are guaranteed some privacy and quiet time. The site is almost absolutely perfect. Things to consider when booking this site. The site is right next to a river so there are bugs. Small nats and flys were prevalent at night swarming around lights. Our screens didn't stop the small nats. This is to be expected as you are near a river and not at Disney. Another is the road to the site has a few humps and dips in it, so if you have a weight distribution hitch you should probably disconnect the bars before going down that final stretch. Also, even though we have a relatively short trailer (19 feet) it took a little work to get out of the site. Nothing to stop us from booking again, but I am glad we have a relatively small trailer.

We arrived late and checked out early. A quick overnight on our journey. So we didn’t get a chance to experience everything. I can say the host was wonderful. Walked us to our site. Explained everything about the grounds. They seem to have everything you could need. We backed our van to within 15 feet of a running creek. Nice. Beautiful location, not far from Pagosa Springs (10 miles ish). Would definitely return when in the area. Thanks!

The host at this beautiful site was so hospitable and a great communicator. The lot was nicely set up with a great view of the mountains and a green farm field. The lot was very close to lake Navajo. Definitely staying at this site again.

Very nice and secluded location. Follow the directions closely and it's pretty easy to find. A little buggy this time of year, so bring bug spray (mostly gnats/noseums, not really mosquitoes or flies). Beautiful night skies. Very quiet and generally very peaceful, lovely location to dry camp.

I have been out in Prescott Arizona for about a year, I am at WILLOWCREEK CAMPGROUND on 89 A.
I was raided on Raven Street And Joined the NAVY USA and its really great to come back to some childhood places. I am Laura Ann Weaver now age 53 and Myself and my Sons Father, Ronald Joseph Bonecki Jr used to play in the trail and in the rocks bird hunting and water wading. I can say it still has the great hike trails and there is also use of water boats and frizbee golf.
I am out at camp sight 34 today and thought i would say the weather is fantastic for a sail and also that the campground is clean and very affordable for $20.00 a night with a shower number on your camp ticket..

Camped here in Sept. 2016. Had electric at site, dump station at entrance. Very quiet well kept park. Friendly, helpful host. Lake level very low. Hope to return again this summer. Take everything you'll need, closest grocery in Chama.
