On the main floor there are two bedrooms: both with queen beds, a full bath with large bathtub/shower; in loft: one queen and one twin, and a 1/2 bath. Extra airbeds are located in the closet. Sofa is down filled. Retro decor with orange glass lamps, kilim rugs and down comforters on all beds. Vintage electric keyboard and full stereo system. Can sleep 7-8. You can enjoy weekend dinners at Snowflake lodge or make use of the full kitchen or gas barbecue at the cabin. 35" to Bear Valley Ski Area, downhill or cross country, Lake Alpine in Summer. 20" to wine tasting in 1850's historic Murphys. So much to do or not! Overlook Trail is 1/2 mile from the cabin. There's a creek that runs through the property with Indian grinding holes. We also have volleyball, horseshoes, hiking trails, and much more! You will be in gold country where you can still find gold in the creek to this day! If you're lucky, you might find a nugget, but there's mostly pickers and fines. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

Second bedroom is semi-private (no door) has a twin trundle bed, a desk for any work or schoolwork needs. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room. Open living room, dining area, and kitchen. Close to downtown Twain Harte and all that it has to offer - summer music outdoors, restaurants, and shops. It is a short drive to Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge. Come stay! The space This house has a primary bedroom with a king bed and a sleeper sofa/ futon (58" long). The second bedroom is semi-private (no door), but since it is across the house from the master, there is some privacy in that way. It has twin trundle beds and is near the second bathroom and right off the kitchen. There's a large back deck for your enjoyment to take in the view of trees and eat outside under the shade umbrella, or to grill on the gas grill. There are stairs to get down to the house, but once inside it is single level. There’s Roku TV and a sound system that you can plug your phone into that’s very loud and good! There is a new AC mini-split unit in the living room! Note: no AC in bedrooms Wood burning fireplace. Guest access You'll have access to the whole house. Other things to note Please note there are stairs to get down to the house, in case you have mobility issues, but there are railings to hold onto. Once inside, there are no stairs! Update: Newly installed AC in living room! In the summertime, this little cabin gets hot even with the evaporative cooler and fans. Hopefully, you are out frolicking during those hours, but please be prepared for the afternoon hours to be very warm. We recently purchased a portable evaporative cooler. You just need to add water to it and you can move it around to wherever you need to cool down. Please note that the second bedroom is semi-private, so maybe more suited to kids or youth - though it is on the other side of the house from the primary bedroom which is private.

We have owned our 20 acre ranch for 12 years. We enjoy the peace and quiet and beautiful views surrounded by oak trees. We love hiking down to the river. Very private; seldom do you come across other people. Amador brewing, Solid Ground brewing and the world famous Poor Reds are about 30 minutes away. Learn more about this land: Renovated guesthouse on 20 acres in the gold country. 1900 feet elevation. 30 minute hike to the Consumnes River, with beaches and swimming. Great sunrises, sunsets and stars. Mountain biking available. Rock outcroppings for climbers. About a 30 minute drive to numerous wineries and the foothill towns of Plymouth and Placerville. The kitchen has a vintage stove with four burners and two ovens, microwave, toaster oven, and sink.  You will also have access to a full size refrigerator. Outside is a propane bbq with two side burners for your use. There is one bedroom with a full bed and in the living room is a trundle bed that converts to two twins. We have installed hardwood laminate flooring throughout guesthouse; some of the pictures show the prior cement floor. There is wifi, Verizon and At&t get good reception.  We use our phones for internet and streaming.  There is a 50 inch TV and dvd player. Bring your own hardware/cords if you want to stream from your phone.   We have goats  if you would like to feed or with. My wife and I live on the property in a house about 200 feet away. You will have as much privacy/interaction as you desire.  Our garage is attached to the guesthouse,  so I may need to access it occasionally during your stay.  We also travel so you may have the property to yourself. We do have two dogs on the property. The Australian healeris very friendly. The Anatolian shepherd is a watch dog so he will bark at you upon arrival and then settle down and leave you alone. You may hear him barking at night at any moving wildlife (deer, turkey, etc.). The last 4.5 miles of the drive to the property is on a winding road.  Please drive carefully.

We had a short but incredibly sweet stay! The views were absolutely beautiful, and waking up to the lake each morning was such a peaceful experience. The small hike down to the lake was beautiful and totally worth it. The animals on the property were honestly the best part — plus we loved getting some extra affection from the resident pup. We even grabbed a few eggs for the road. Everything was wonderful from start to finish, and when we lost power, it was restored so quickly. Jeremy, our Hipcamp host, was super friendly and accommodating and had great recommendations for the area, which made the trip even better. 10/10 stay — we would absolutely come back and highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful, memorable getaway.

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

Had an awesome experience here. Was a little concerned about how their dogs would act around my 2 little dogs but it wasnt that big of a hassle. Luna was very well-mannered and kept her distance from our dogs and she was super friendly. The guardian dogs only hung out for about 20 minutes when we first got there and then we didnt see them until the next day when they came and checked on us for another 20mins in the afternoon. The view was amazing, especially at sunrise. Jeremy was super cool and even cut us up some firewood to use.

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

We loved staying in the tree house with incredible views of the lake and nice, cosy set up for 2 people. Jeremy went above and beyond in terms of making us comfortable providing fire wood, helping us to get to the lake side for kayaking and letting us pet the cutest ever puppies that live on the farm. We ate some good food in the town of Murphys and Jeremy’s recommendations of V bistro and vino moda were both excellent. Waking up to the birds chirping and superb view of the lake, foothills clouds from the lofted bed was a real pleasure. Cannot recommend more for a nice get away!!

My son and I absolutely loved the cabin and Jeremy’s land! It was beautiful set next to the late and the views were amazing. The cabin was super cozy and it was so nice to have extra amenities (sink, shower, kitchen) near by. We had so much fun going kayaking, playing with the different farm animals and dogs and eating fresh eggs from the chicken coop. The dogs were so friendly and one of them even stayed with us overnight which my son loved! We can’t wait to come back to this space. Jeremy was so kind, communicative and providing great ideas and suggestions for local places.

We had a great stay at Matt and Eve’s! Everyone we met at the farm was kind and welcoming to us, and we enjoyed getting to experience a small slice of farm life. The cabin was clean, cozy, and warm. The property and surrounding area are very beautiful. We also really appreciated the design of the structures and clever use of secondhand materials. Hope to return someday soon!

Malaina was a super responsive, thoughtful and accommodating host! Absolutely a delight. I've never slept in a more comfortable bed! The heater kept the space warm and cozy. The plush bathrobes and towels were a nice touch. Just a shame we couldn't enjoy the property fully on our first day NYE (no fault of Malaina obviously). The heavy rain made it a pain to walk to the outhouse, use the kitchen area and sit by the fire pit. New Year's Day was perfect though and we welcomed the New Year with a nice, relaxing soak. It is the perfect place to unwind, reflect, do minimal things (I did start to get a little stir crazy with the rain pounding on our roof). I'd recommend lots of reading materials, a lantern (one was provided) and more candles.

Enjoy the loft twin bed and the reading couch next to the view.

What an amazing place this is. We stayed in the newly built super view cabin and it absolutely was the most super view. We were there in cold weather and the cabin was so cozy and comfortable. The outdoor grill and fire pit were so great too. The animals were free range and it was magical seeing horses frolic by with their goat friends. Jeremy and his wife and son were so friendly and gave great suggestions on places to visit. By far some of the best hipcamp hosts we've had. We would give this 1000 stars if possible. In the wet weather you definitely should have a AWD or 4WD. My Mazda CX5 handled it like a champ. If you want to see the best sunrise surrounded by endless beauty, go here!

Wondernut Farm is a perfect getaway. Everyone who lives here is super warm and welcoming. I loved hanging with all the animals, but my favorites were the sweet, smart doggies who roamed the property freely and joined on little hikes. The wood stove in the Overlook cabin was also my favorite - so cozy! And also the bed! Super comfortable and a marvelous view to wake up to too. ❤️

My two dogs and I had a very nice stay at this Hipcamp location. The hosts were responsive and helpful. The cabin is cozy, with a fully stocked kitchen, board games, DVDs, and a very useful binder with local information and things to do. The property is wooded and hilly, with paths cut through it, multiple seating and eating areas, and plenty of outdoor activities/games.. Nights were quiet (I did hear shooting practice down the road for a couple of hours one day). Overall, a relaxing and exceptionally well-set-up place to stay, particularly for a group..

4 nights at The Painted Lake

Wow, what an amazing and beautiful weekend my girlfriends and I had at the Painted Lake Treehouse! The place is absolutely stunning! It was a mystical and magical wonderland with an amazing view of the lake. We woke up every morning to sounds of the roosters crowing and goats bleeting. We also had the pleasure of being there at the time where they had puppies on the property. They were so cute! The treehouse was warm and comfortable perfect for the three of us. The two petite girls stayed in the loft bed and I stayed on the futon couch down below. The heater kept us nice and toasty as we went there in December so it got brisk at night. There was was a camp kitchen, outdoor shower hut & portopotty just a just a short walk up the hill from the treehouse. There were dishes and cooking utensils provided as well as running water and a stove for cooking. Everything we needed. Our purpose for the weekend was to be surrounded by nature and to do a healing retreat weekend. We each booked a constellation therapy session with Michelle. Let me tell you she is absolutely magical. Such a compassionate and knowledgeable healer. It was truly transformative on so many levels. The animals participated as well. My favorite part was when the horses nuzzled my back during the final session. Our hosts Jeremy and Michele made sure that all of our needs were met and were extremely welcoming and excited to have us there. I would highly recommend this to anyone! Thanks M&J!! 💖 MAGIC!

Malaina was a great host, respected our privacy and wow both my boyfriend and I were significantly impressed with the hot tub. Cool area to explore, malaina recommended a hike that gave a beautiful view of Lake New Malones. The bed was a comfy and there was a gate we could close off our space with for optimal privacy/comfort for puppy off leash. Thanks for a great adventure!

Matt + Eve and their amazing staff were beyond warm and welcoming during my stay, making me feel right at home. Everyone was respectful of leaving space for solitude while also being friendly and fun/easy to converse with. The cabin itself is super cute, but partly open-air making it pretty cold this time of year, esp when the sun isn’t on it. I would recommend bringing tons of warm base layers to sleep in or consider booking one of the other cabins with a heat source if you’re feeling unsure! Overall I had an amazing time and would happily return.

Wondernut Farm is fantastic. The lookout was gorgeous, calm and super cozy. Despite an overnight 41 degree F temp, we were warm and the amenities were fantastic. The farm is gorgeous as well, we got to see pigs, goats and sheep, and may daughter had the time of her life. Matt and Eve were super welcoming, and everyone was kind. Can't say enough good things.

We loved this little cabin and the entire stay at Wondernut Farm! Eve met us on arrival around a roaring wood stove in the hand-built glass communal living room. We met all the sweet dogs and then she showed us around the expansive shared kitchen before walking us up the hill to our adorable cabin. The huge window has a great view of the hillside, and we laid in bed watching shooting stars. The bed was SO comfortable, with a thick foam topper and nice sheets and pillows. The next morning, we got to meet the goats, sheep, and pigs as well as learn a little bit about the cheese making process. Highly highly recommend — we hope to go back!

North Grove Campground

Beautiful place... not my fav campground, tho. We had site 50. It's down-sloping w/two mostly-flat spots between it and the campsite (53? 51?) at the bottom of the hill. No obvious division here (all trees between have been cut down) between sites, making it unclear which tent site "ought" to belong to which & definitely minimizing privacy. Tons of yellow jackets here. No shower at restroom 5, which is two rustic huts. The 60-74 sites appeared to be more private w/ a bath house. That said, the entire North Grove campground gets all the highway noise (think logging trucks going uphill at 4am) from Route 4. While it was nice to be able to walk to the Big Trees area from this area, I think next time, we'll try the Oak Hollow sites.

We stayed at the environmental sites. The site was unbelievable! It was beautiful, secluded, and the river. However, we had the worst experience with the Rangers and campground. They gave us misinformation about service dogs and kicked us aggressively out at dusk for the dogs being there and not believing that we had a disability for which we needed the dogs. They left us stranded and ejected us from the park despite our paperwork from the park and our ADA cards for the dogs. The treatment and interaction was inappropriate, dangerous, and irrational. This is the second time I have stayed here and both times I received different information from people who worked there.

Oak Hollow Campground

Just camped at Oak Hollow 113 over Memorial Day weekend. While North Grove seemed a bustle of both campers and extra day visitors, Oak Hollow (over 3 miles further into the park) has more tranquility. Camp spaces felt more spread out, and somewhat more private depending on the spot. A lot of fallen trees, large stumps and creek beds create natures playground which the kids LOVED! It does look like most campsites only have one really good tent space, and some of them don't look that level. Our second tent was definitely on a slant, but I'd book 113 again because the overall site was extremely spacious and private. A double bear box handled 2 families worth of food, which was necessary because there were a couple bears wandering camp.

Stayed 2 summers in a row. Oak Hollow & N. Grove both great sites. However, Oak hollow did have steep hills for camping sites..as in roll off your air mattress, hike down the hill type steep to and from your car. Handicap sites were all satisfactory at both sites. Restrooms&showers were maintained well,My only gripe is no one ever answers any of the calls. We've reserved a group site this year but can't get anyone to confirm whether or not the group sites have showers or the allowable # of cars is including in the $200/nt fee. I realize that a site to accommodate nearly 100 people should have showers of their own but I'd hate to be presumptuous.

I have been coming here since I was a little kid. I absolutely love this place. It can get packed in the warm summer months so get here early. This place is very majestic in the winter with snowfall.

Oak Hollow Campground

Stayed in site 117. Large site but definitely sloped. There were several steps down from the site's assigned parking area to the picnic table, fire ring, bear locker and tent site. Convenient water spigots and bathrooms throughout the campground. Showers were in a slightly rough shape but overall clean and hot. Staying in Oak Hollow puts you closer to the South Grove loop, an easy two hour hike that's worth doing. Great place overall.

Oak Hollow Campground

This campground was further from noise of hwy 4 and tourists than North Grove Campground. Nice, shady sites, some quite large. However, many sites are on slopes which means carrying your gear up/down stairs from your car.

The North Grove is hugely popular and rightfully so! The South Grove, however, should not be overlooked, because it’s awesome and includes the huge “Agassiz Tree”...check it out!
