Biking

Calaveras doesn’t have a ton of biking, however what it does have is pretty awesome. Imagine biking in-between these massive trees! We would opt for the South Loop .

Fishing

The Stanislaus River and Beaver Creek offer good fishing, particularly for rainbow trout. A valid California fishing license is required.

Hiking

If you’re a fan a gargantuan trees then this is your spot! Both the North Grove and the South Grove are great hikes and feature some spectacular Sequoias. You’ll be able to check out some very well-known icons like Father of the Forest, Empire State and the Siamese Twins. Some other attractions worth checking out are the Stanislaus River, Beaver Creek, the Lava Bluff Trail and Bradley Trail.

Snow sports

Wintertime is a great time to check out Calaveras. It’s quite magical when everything is covered in white and you are cross-country skiing amongst the Sequoias.

Swimming

There are a few hiking trails that will take you to the river, or you can drive a short way up the road from the park proper, to a very popular swimming hole. There is a highway bridge over the river above the swimming hole, and parking is available. There is a huge boulder upon which folks like to sit in the sun, or the thrillseekers use to jump into the water (bonzai!).

Whitewater paddling

What do you get when you put together breathtaking surroundings, adrenaline and a serious adventure? We won’t ruin the surprise, but rafting at Calaveras is guaranteed to be a voyage that you’ll never forget.

Wildlife watching

If you are at Calaveras, chances are you aren’t alone. This park has awesome opportunities to see wildlife . Some creatures that have been spotted here include woodpeckers, northern flickers, dark-eyed juncos, raccoons, porcupines, flying squirrels and even black bears.
