4 nights at Valley View Camp

Visiting family and staying at Valley View was a perfect vacation. Valley View was in the hills with ………that’s right, a great view of the Valley. BLM land was accessible in many spots within a mile. I saw 4 wild horses in the brush about 1/2 mile from Valley View. I was met by Christa who I contacted to let her know I was lost. She came right out to the road and waved me down. Very responsive. She helped me back in and Mark came out to give me Internet info and make sure that I had no problems hooking up my trailer. It was very quiet. It was clean. I slept good. I brought my dog and I was told to feel free to tie him up under the shade tree. The RV site was not level but not a problem., Just bring your blocks. Valley View is as described on HIPCAMP. I have already recommended it to other family members as a perfect place to stay when visiting Carson City. You will love it here if you don’t want to be in the midst of an RV park.

1 night at L.Davis Ranch and Olde LYFE Alpacas

Fun place to camp. The host and the alpacas were all very nice. Quiet with views of the valley. No issues with parking/access. Gift shop with nice souvenirs.

5 nights at Village Camp Truckee

Near lots of cool Lake Tahoe spots! Our campground neighbors were all friendly, as was the staff! Recommend if needing some level ground to park your rig on near Lake Tahoe!

2 nights at L.Davis Ranch and Olde LYFE Alpacas

Once in a lifetime experience! Alpacas are cute and friendly, my kids had a blast playing and feeding them! There are other animals, nice and funny too. If I knew it was such an amazing place I would’ve stayed for a couple of more days, but I couldn’t make and amendments to our road trip journey! Stacy is lovely, she can answer many questions about her farm. I will go back for sure!

Weekend Trip to Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

Beautiful peace of property that I look forward to revisiting. Had easy access to the road, had great accommodations. Loved the hosts, very kind and helpful.

3 nights at Tailwinds Ranch - Bunkhouse

My family and I enjoyed tent camping at tailwinds ranch. We loved the privacy and relaxation that the site provided. For those in our group that preferred cabin camping, the tiny home was super convenient. It was very clean and fully stocked with the basics as well as water and electricity. The owner is super responsive and helpful. This campsite is perfect for a larger group or multiple families. The place felt cozy and peaceful. 10/10 recommend!

we had a great stay for our evening under the trees. A beautiful, serene site. Kelley, the host is wonderful. We didn’t have enough time to use the sauna, but I would definitely recommend booking that if you’re into that type of thing.

We had such a great time with Kelley! She was so incredibly kind and helpful! The campsite was clean and the amenities were just as listed! She even had a space for us to put food to protect from the local wildlife! 10/10 would return!

14 nights at Valley View Camp

Excellent site with hosts to match! Stayed for two weeks in a 28 foot Class A with a toad. It's a one-pad spot with good water pressure and reliable power (30a only.) Driving to it seems like you're in the middle of nowhere but it's really 10-12 minutes away from stores and restaurants, and 5 minutes away from Carson River park and Prison Hill Recreation Area, perfect for daily walks. It's about 30 minutes to get to Lake Tahoe and just a little longer to get to Reno. It might not be ideal for families looking for on-site activities, but as a full-timer who works remotely during the mornings I absolutely loved having a private site. The nights and work hours were nice and quiet with no one blaring their music or wandering through my space, but I was close enough to everything that exploring in the evenings or weekends was nice and easy. Or, some evenings were best spent watching the sunset against the mountains. Christa and Mark were also very friendly and attentive and easily reachable via HipCamp or text from the day before I got there to the time I left. Former full-timers themselves, they know all the trials and tribulations of RV life, and if I had any issues they would have jumped on top of them to fix. Plus they had fantastic recommendations for things to do, especially when it came to hiking in the area. And they were just fun to talk to. I will definitely stay with them again the next time I swing through the area!

3 nights at The Retreat on Big Grizzly Creek

My husband and I had such a beautiful stay at Dan’s property! We loved how private it was and enjoyed a romantic holiday weekend! We loved all the thoughtful touches around camp including the tent and bathroom! It perfectly fit our needs and we can’t wait to return to take in the spectacular views another time! We enjoyed the drive to the camp as well and feel that it would be fun to bring our kids and their dog next time! We loved the creek and took and dip and fished a little as well! We can tell that they put love into what they do and we are looking forward to the next time we get to stay again!

2 nights at Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

This place was AMAZING. The little cabin was gorgeous, simplistic but totally decked out with whatever we needed. It was pretty private, and overlooked an amazing patch of forest. Kelley was amazing, so very helpful and kind, she really made sure we had everything we needed. The area was pretty remote, but not challenging to find. Felt just lost enough, but safe the entire time! There’s a sweet little river nearby, and you can hear it from the campsite, it was a short little walk to get there. Cold but stunning. I honestly can’t recommend this place enough. The tent camping looked amazing too, but my partner and I will for sure be back for the little cabin. All in all, the area was gorgeous, the host was phenomenal, the cabin was perfect. Can’t wait to go back! (also shoutout to Kelley’s neighbor Laurie, who was also really kind and generous!)

2 nights at Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

Outstanding host and campsite. Super easy to find a few miles off 80. Great description of Kelley’s land and direction. We stayed at site3 which is next to the “house”. Big enough for our Sprinter van and bike rack (about 23 feet). Kelley is the perfect blend of helpful and non intrusive. There are 2 ports potties- one inside a building with a sink and one outside in a potty tent( nicer then it sounds lol!) the camp is all solar Powered. We plugged into the system for about an hour (just ask 1st) to run our van battery back to 100 percent. There was water as well but we didn’t need it . Outdoor shower. Outdoor sink for washing dishes. She brought us a thermocell for mosquitos which was really helpful! Pay the $60 to use the sauna. What a treat! It’s heated with firewood and has a cold plunge bucket outside. Big enough for 2-3. She even brought us towels for sauna. We hiked along the bear river which is beautiful and there was an official hiking trail where the road connects with Hwy 20. So peaceful and lovely ! Adorable eve lights that illuminate paths around camp. There are some swinging Adirondack chairs too. We would absolutely stay here again. It took us about 30 minutes to Truckee and one hour to Tahoe city /sunnyside area. Dog was very welcomed and loved it too. Things to note: it is 2 miles down a dirt road . Bring what you need or rent from Kelley. There were some very cute tent/car camping spaces on site as well. Highly recommend this gem

Beautiful little home next to beautiful tall trees. Really very special. The owners were very kind and helpful. Next to a ton of lakes and river spots.

3 nights at Village Camp Truckee

Very clean and nice amenities. Great clubhouse. As others have mentioned, RV sites are close but I would still stay here again because it is very nice.

3 nights at Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

Kelley and Pearl were both great. Pearl was stocked with everything you need, nice cookware, bed was comfy, property is beautiful, and so much to do nearby. Kelley shared some good recommendations for trails and maintains the camper very well. I definitely recommend!

Weekend Trip to Blue Canyon Happy Place

Great little spot for shakedown overnighter in my new rig. It was nice to have the site all to ourselves so my dog could freely roam. I loved seeing the stars through my window whenever I’d wake during the night. Bring mosquito spray!

We loved Kelley’s campsites. She has a beautiful property right next to Tahoe National Forest! Everything is well set up and organized for campers’ convenience (toilet, showers, lights, sink, what else do you need?) We enjoyed Kelley’s recommendations and friendliness and we’re definitely coming back!
