Lizardsniffer is a working horse farm with a variety of rental cabins and RV slips. We DO allow tent camping. Each RV slip has water, septic, 50 amp service and Wifi. An Amenities Cabin is provided for use by all RV site guests. The cabin includes a full-sized washer/dryer, a full bathroom with bidet, and an oversized jacuzzi tub. Guests must sign-up for a 4-hour timeslot. The cabin is available for use between the hours of 8am-8pm. Many of our RV sites feature private fenced paddocks for people bringing their horses or dogs. Horse visitors require all current paperwork (Coggins, etc.). Dog visitors must be social and friendly and thus are allowed to explore the farm with their owners off-leash if desired. The property includes miles of trails for hiking, biking, or horseback riding. Bring your own horse or experienced riders may be able to ride one of ours (subject to weight/experience matching with a horse). There is a small private stocked lake open to all guests of Lizardsniffer for fishing and swimming. At the lake you will find an amenities cabin called Glowy Bobber that has a full bathroom and outdoor shower as well as Kayaks and floats for guest use.

Perched on the western shore of Clarks Hill Lake, one of Georgia’s largest lakes, Elijah Clark State Park takes its name from Revolutionary War hero Elijah Clark. A history lesson is top of the agenda for park visitors, so follow in the footsteps of the pioneers at the Log Cabin Museum, before heading down to the sandy swimming beach to cool off with a swim. Getting on the water is also a must, whether you bring your own boat, rent a kayak or canoe, or go fishing and hiking around the lakeshore. Campers can choose between RV sites, hike-in tent sites, and cozy cottages.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for lake views: The main Elijah Clark State Campground has 172 tent, trailer, and RV sites with space for up to 40’ trailers and full hookups available. 
  • Best for hikers: The Walk-In Campground provides tent-only camping just off the trail, plus a bathhouse, picnic tables, and fire rings.
  • Best for glampers: The 20 Lakeside Cottages sleep up to eight people and have air-conditioning, heating, and kitchenettes.

  2. Online reservations open up to 13 months in advance and can also be made for same-day arrivals. 
  3. Campsites can book up fast for summer and holiday weekends, so book at least three months in advance.

When to go

The mercury soars in Georgia during the summer months, making it the perfect time to cool off at the lake in Elijah Clark State Park. Alternatively, come in autumn to admire the fall foliage and spot wildlife—this is the best time to see bald eagles, white-tail deer, and foxes. The park is busiest from April through November, but the campground stays open year-round.

  • Elijah Clark State Park is a 10-minute drive north of Lincolnton and 40 miles northwest of Augusta, about a 1-hour drive away.
  • A ParkPass is required for entry to all Georgia State Parks, and campsite booking fees also apply. 
  • Pets are permitted at Georgia State Parks, including on most trails and campsites, but should be kept on a maximum six-foot-long leash at all times. Dogs are not allowed in swimming areas.
  • Facilities at Elijah Clark State Park include restrooms, picnic areas with barbecues, a playground, a boat ramp and fishing pier, two swimming beaches, a miniature golf course, and kayak/canoe rentals.
