One of the best camping experiences
We are first time hip campers and while new to the community, we are well seasoned backpackers, car campers and just general get out pull over and enjoy the journey adventurers. We were seeking a location that was easily situated between a couple state parks that offered privacy and some creature comforts as we had our little one coming along with us this time for a few days.
Driving up to Sandbar Farm we didn’t know what to expect, of course the pictures looked wonderful, and the location seemed about right… wow were our expectations completely blown out of the water when we were greeted by Jackie and Rob waving as we pulled down the driveway. Bright smiles, happy horses and a chicken or two (whom poop a delicious brilliantly orange breakfast egg) alongside a very friendly Timmy made us feel welcomed- while Rob and Jackie showed us to our site. We quickly settled in and setup camp. Jackie and Rob shared wonderful stories of the area, their farm, their passion for animals while giving us privacy. You could easily tell we were amongst great folks who were truly some of the most genuine people you could ever meet.
The site we selected was private, within walking distance of amenities on the farm, easy to drive to, nicely shaded with clear views of the night sky, the fields of wild flowers, horses and had soft ground cover. The farm is well kept with happy animals about and at sun rise perhaps you might see a doe wondering through. Trash removal, water and wood were available on site and Rob and Jackie, made sure we had what was needed to enjoy our stay.
We came to explore Letchworth and enjoyed it’s immense vistas, deep gorge and abundance of trails. Rob recommended we make it a point to visit even closer Stony Brook and we are so thankful we did. With a cool crisp creek / pool, within minutes of the farm it was refreshing after a long day of hiking. Back at Sandbar Farms, we were greeted with Pony rides (Thank you Puddles) a massive bon fire and some of the best people you could ever met, sharing laughter, memories of adventures and brilliant ideas.
You could easily tell our hosts were kind of people whom were genuine and authentic, down to earth and driven by their passion for all those in their care. It felt as if we were camping on land that belonged to friends whom we haven’t seen from grade school many many moons ago. Jackie invited us to go Strawberry picking (in season) & delicious, made way for some fresh baked crepes over the campfire for breakfast. Rob shared some great stories, encouraging us to fall in love with the area and horses. Jackie and Rob were easily available should anything arise and you could tell they would give as much or as little friendly privacy as needed (we naturally found the perfect balance) coming and going as we pleased throughout the day. By night, the stars and moon were bright against the deep gray sky, while moon light casted shadows as we walked around the fields at night watching the fire flies twinkle and horses settle for the evening.
In short, regardless if you staying for two nights or 6, with family or with friends, looking to lay back drink beer and poke a fire or seeking a day full of adventure, Sandbar farms is your base camp, and your guides are truly world class. We had way more fun than we anticipated and our little one surely found her brightest smiles camping out at Sandbar Farms. Probably one of the best camping experiences we’ve had. Thank you Jackie for sharing your land with us!
