Clayton Geneva Camp Ground began as a retreat for our family since the 70's. My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

This area is an old tobacco and cattle farm on a point above Laurel Lake. We do a bit of farming and crafting when we can and thought we’d try and share our lovely spot! Much of the timber on the place is nearly 100 years old hardwoods, with a couple of fields throughout. I camp here myself too, and can recommend it for privacy!

The dwellings are spaced far enough apart for privacy yet not to far of a walk to the common area where the kitchen and shower are. You'll be surprised at how cool the tents stay under the forest canopy in the heat of summer. Then in the colder months we have various heating options to keep you cozy in 3 of the dwellings I hope you come to share this with us, it's an amazingly peaceful area.
Nearly 3 miles of hiking trails to enjoy during your visit. Take a spur trail off the main trail loop and there is a prayer shelter with a fire pit inspired by Luke 6:12 in the back corner of the property. Located at the edge of the prarie on the main trail is a sunrise/sunset/bird-watching platform that is 20 feet in the air with a 2 stage bridge to access it. We updated the outdoor kitchen with a 3 burner propane stove, propane grill and hot running water with a 3 bay sink. Other cooking options include a tripod over the fire and a charcoal grill.
A short 10-minute drive to fire tower rd. brings you to a 2 mile loop trail with 2 waterfalls, Upper and Lower Piney Falls. Ozone falls is just a 20 minute drive. Then toward Spring City is Stinging Fork Falls at 25 minutes. Black mountain is my new favorite place especially the south overlook! The Hiking possibilities are nearly endless and close. I'll highlight one thru hike here since both trailheads are only 20 minutes away and is easy to coordinate with only 2 vehicles. It's a 10.2 mile hike that can be done in either direction and has a little something for everyone including a cave, boulder field, cascade and waterfall. Then you have massive Watts Bar Lake which is only 20 minutes away with a plethora of activities including the excursions we offer!

Find peace at this private campsite close to Watts Bar Lake. Nestled in the tall trees, your large, private site features a fire pit, picnic table, and a “Tennessee Bathroom.” Site is nearly 100% shaded all day long. The area is surprisingly quiet. Deer, turkey, turtles, frogs, and cardinals have all been seen on the property. Before you exit your tent in the morning, stay quiet and look out first - who knows what you might see. Parking is right next to the site.
Watts Bar Lake is within a few hundred yards and a public boat ramp is just about 3 minutes down the road. Watts Bar is over 72 miles long, 722 miles of shoreline, and is known for good fishing, kayaking, birdwatching, and other recreation.
This is a good base for day trips to Knoxville, Chattanooga, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Smoky Mountain National Park.
Note: Bring your own tent/supplies, or options include tent and/or propane tank rental. Pack out your own food, animal, and human waste. As this is private property, it is still the woods of Tennessee, so expect all that goes along with that. This property is in development, so added lodging and amenities will come on line in the future. We welcome your feedback.

Discover a rare campsite available between two cliffs that the Native Americans originally called home. It remains just as they found it. Driving anywhere other than on gravel during wet conditions can result in you getting stuck. Upon arriving, you will have to open the gate to enter the property. BE SURE TO CLOSE THIS GATE WHEN YOU LEAVE. We do not have trash service at this property. Please be sure to take your trash with you. If needed, there is a small dump/convenience center located just down the road at 6783 Hwy 297, Pioneer, TN 37847.
This area is called Elk Valley, as it is not uncommon to be driving down the road and see elk and deer in the low grass fields! Beautiful area!

My grandparents, Donald Clayton Russell & Jewel Geneva (Davis) Russell, purchased this little piece of heaven to get away from the hustle and bustle of Cincinnati life. Judy was born in a little cabin just down the road. Judy & Don along with many family members have made cherished memories here over the years. We want to share its beauty with you and your family.
Please consider, Clayton Geneva is a primitive campground, gravel drives and left as natural as possible. This is not a sculpted campsite or a concrete campground. The primitive area is as such, gravel, grass, sand terrain accessible by a one lane gravel drive that leads over the hill and around the cliff to the riverbank. This drive is absolutely passable however is left bumpy to keep traffic at a safe speed as pedestrians also walk the drive. It is passable by any vehicle as long as the vehicle is not overloaded beyond its ability and/or has an extremely low profile.
Any area that is not an actual campsite is left to nature, not manicured, trimmed or sculpted. As you’ll find all the sites are clear please don’t expect micromanaging of wild growth of our native plants in areas around the sites as we reserve those areas for the wildlife to enjoy.
Please consider all the above mentioned details, primitive campsites are not for everyone and that’s ok.

This area is an old tobacco and cattle farm on a point above Laurel Lake. We do a bit of farming and crafting when we can and thought we’d try and share our lovely spot! Much of the timber on the place is nearly 100 years old hardwoods, with a couple of fields throughout. I camp here myself too, and can recommend it for privacy!

Nearly 3 miles of hiking trails to enjoy during your visit. Take a spur trail off the main trail loop and there is a prayer shelter with a fire pit inspired by Luke 6:12 in the back corner of the property. Located at the edge of the prarie on the main trail is a sunrise/sunset/bird-watching platform that is 20 feet in the air with a 2 stage bridge to access it. We updated the outdoor kitchen with a 3 burner propane stove, propane grill and hot running water with a 3 bay sink. Other cooking options include a tripod over the fire and a charcoal grill.
A short 10-minute drive to fire tower rd. brings you to a 2 mile loop trail with 2 waterfalls, Upper and Lower Piney Falls. Ozone falls is just a 20 minute drive. Then toward Spring City is Stinging Fork Falls at 25 minutes. Black mountain is my new favorite place especially the south overlook! The Hiking possibilities are nearly endless and close. I'll highlight one thru hike here since both trailheads are only 20 minutes away and is easy to coordinate with only 2 vehicles. It's a 10.2 mile hike that can be done in either direction and has a little something for everyone including a cave, boulder field, cascade and waterfall. Then you have massive Watts Bar Lake which is only 20 minutes away with a plethora of activities including the excursions we offer!

Find peace at this private campsite close to Watts Bar Lake. Nestled in the tall trees, your large, private site features a fire pit, picnic table, and a “Tennessee Bathroom.” Site is nearly 100% shaded all day long. The area is surprisingly quiet. Deer, turkey, turtles, frogs, and cardinals have all been seen on the property. Before you exit your tent in the morning, stay quiet and look out first - who knows what you might see. Parking is right next to the site.
Watts Bar Lake is within a few hundred yards and a public boat ramp is just about 3 minutes down the road. Watts Bar is over 72 miles long, 722 miles of shoreline, and is known for good fishing, kayaking, birdwatching, and other recreation.
This is a good base for day trips to Knoxville, Chattanooga, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Smoky Mountain National Park.
Note: Bring your own tent/supplies, or options include tent and/or propane tank rental. Pack out your own food, animal, and human waste. As this is private property, it is still the woods of Tennessee, so expect all that goes along with that. Such a beautiful, quiet location right on the water. All of the sites are maintained well along with the amenities. There’s a porta potty near the campsites themselves and then a small bathroom/shower room a little up the drive on the main property. I know the site areas have a history of flooding easily since it’s right on the water, luckily I had amazing weather while there and I know I would have been accommodated on the upper land area if need be!

This is the perfect spot if you want to get away from it all. Its remote, serene, and we'll kept. Its not a big park, nor is it a resort, but it was lovely. There arent amenities, but there are farm animals, green grass, blue sky and quiet.
Amber, the owner, is a truly kind human and she cares for her guests and her animals. She even provides a bucket to save scraps for her chickens! I absolutely loved being there and hope we can return again.

Ambers spot was perfect. Peaceful, private, and by the water. It was the perfect stop off for two nights as I made my way through. Amber was kind, polite and more than attentive. So much that she even offered her KY hospitality and charm to solve any of my dilemmas. Great spot with great people and easily accessible. Plus I was able to purchase some local honey from
her farm too. Highly recommend to all.

One of the most beautiful campgrounds I've been to. Plus it was close to other falls and kayak launches. Cleanest port o potty I have ever seen, and the shower stayed warm long enough for both my son and I to get decent showers. I do recommend a large bucket for water, we only brought a small one and it's about .5 mile walk up the drive to get potable water. Also bring tick spray, I had 5, my husband 2, and my youngest 3. There are some that help if sprayed beforehand on the site and clothes, I just didn't think of it, and we may have just walked into a hatch. Also, where we stayed the swimming is not good for kids, too stong of a current, but further down we noticed there are larger rocks and it gets shallower, so if you have kids I recommend a site downstream. Overall it's a gorgeous place to stay, Amber and the gentleman that helps are very kind. Its quiet and safe and our kids didn't want to leave, even though they could not access internet! Which was also very nice!

Perfect private spot to camp for the night with family. Hosts were super responsive with questions. Firewood left by the pit and the area was super clean. Only issue we had was dogs on another property were barking all throughout the night but no biggy. Would definitely recommend

This place was easy to find; beautiful drive, beautiful land!
Although I was up by the RV’s & restroom, I took a walk down by the river where the tent camping is. I was only there to sleep, basically.
But the river sites are incredible! I’m SO coming back to camp down there, & taking a few days for it. Amber was awesome!

Stayed 2 nights in Shady Grove Campsite. It’s still spring so no tree leaves yet but it was beautiful! Gavin takes such great care of his property so all of his trees are tall and healthy.
He had set up a nice welcome folder with good info and a few local tips on food as well as activities nearby.

I recently enjoyed a wonderful camping trip at Dons Watch. The setting offered a stunning vantage point and a calm, scenic backdrop that made the stay special. Amber and her husband were incredibly helpful, lending a hand with gathering firewood and making sure I could check in smoothly after dark. Their warmth and support truly enhanced the experience.

This was a great safe spot about 10 minutes off the highway on my way thru. Arrived at about 10pm and was back on the road by 8:30. The bathroom was clean and close by + Amber let me fill my water up before heading out (THANK YOU!) Would love to come back and stay at one of the riverside sites!

My partner and I showed up as the sun was setting after finding this site on iOverlander, and Amber kindly showed us around and got us settled right away. We had a beautiful site to ourselves right on the river and enjoyed the peace and quiet under the stars. Amber supplied us with lots of firewood, definitely worth the add-on. We only wished we would’ve arrived earlier to see the farm animals! The next morning we felt so grateful to take hot showers in a clean bathroom. We will definitely come back again if we find ourselves in the area. Thank you Amber!

I loved Amber's land, it was beautiful and peaceful. She was very sweet and helpful. I would definitely go back with the the rv and kids. The restroom and shower was nice and kept clean as well. Also it's nice that people can bring there pets and they have a groomer on the grounds. They also have several extra things to purchase.

The facility was super nice! There are trails on the property and a prayer shack if that’s something you’d like to use. Showers and spigot are located at the office, so it’s a bit of a walk or short drive to those. if you’re looking for somewhere to get out into nature with no one around, it’s the perfect place to go! we would come back!

Big South fork - off the train RRG
Lovely stay, definitely also recommend Backcountry camping. Permits are only $8. Big South fork reminds me of red river gorge, but less crowded and more remote. Love it!

I hike both Twin Arches and Angel Falls and liked them both. The arches were impressive and trail was clear. Angel falls was a nice hike but not clearly marked and the view of falls was really lacking which makes hikers go what seems to be off trail to see what they came here for. Lots of trash at the campsites too (aluminum cans, shirts).

The Big South Fork is a beautiful and fun place to visit. We saw the moon bow and it was awesome. Best time to see it is 2 hours after sunset so the moon has time to rise more.

We spent the weekend of 8/24-26 camping in Big South Fork and barely scratched the surface of the park's offerings. We stayed at the Bandy Creek Campsite in Loop A and were very comfortable with the property's well-maintained facilities. There is an on-site Ranger Station with information about the park as well as a camp store and firewood/ice purchases on the honor-system. The campground is close to a number of great day hikes, and none of the trails we explored were farther than a 30min drive away. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to future campers!

We camped in Loop A of Bandy Creek last weekend for two nights. The campground's extremely well-maintained--as mentioned in the review below, each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern pole, as well as a bear-safe food compartment. The restrooms were very clean, with two showers (and hot water!) in both the women's and men's rooms, and a sink out front for dishwashing.
The general amenities are also great--the visitor's center is beautiful, and there's a camp store near the horse stables that sells all the basics. We especially appreciated the firewood between stables 4 and 5 that anyone can buy at anytime (just slip $10 in the box).
We'll definitely be back!

We stayed at Bandy Creek the last week of March, 2016. There are several different Loops. We stayed in Loop A, which is for tent campers only. The other loops accommodate tents and RVs. It is moderately wooded, but you can still easily see other campers and campsites from your own. With that being said, there were probably only 4 other campers there with us. It was freezing outside! The campsite is extremely well maintained and we had a lantern post, a fire ring, a picnic table, and a gravel pad to put the tents on. The bathhouse has his and her restrooms and a family restroom. There is a sink to do dishes as well. It is also heated and the showers have hot water so if you are camping in cold weather this is a great spot to go.
