Julie was a very nice host and the location is relatively easy to find in a beautiful valley farm near Summersville Lake.
Visitors need to know that the camping spots are in the side yard, very near the house and there is a camper trailer in the same area where folks appear to be living. The area has beautiful rolling hills and is a quiet place to stay, but tent campers should be aware that the area does not have many level spots, and the nearby pond may not be for everyone. Julie and her family were welcoming and kind while we were there, which was the most important thing to us.

Julie’s farm is a beautiful place to camp and Julie is a great host! It’s a very convenient location for getting on the Gauley.

Julie was a darling, an incredible host. You will be staying in her yard if you are looking to stay close to your car. The land is in a prime location and absolutely beautiful. If you are looking for a unique experience stay here! You won’t regret it

Really beautiful farmland and the camping spot was nice and flat. Instructions were easy to follow for how to get to the tent site. Host was great and super accommodating. Bathroom was clean and had no issues. Couldn't have asked for a better campsite!

First of all, Julie was a gracious hostess, from the text messages about our change in arrival, to the careful directions on how to access her land, to the gracious welcome we received, to the delicious biscuits and ham she provided us on her beautiful porch. It was just perfect.
My friend and I camped together, her in her tent and me in my small pop-up trailer. We camped in the corner near the trees, and it was really a lovely spot. I think one time my bird app recognized 10 bird calls. The site was grass, and the grass was clean and comfortable to walk on. I was actually barefoot or in sandals most of the time.
It rained while I was there, and it made the grass wet, but there was no issue of ponding water or mud. We were there when it was hot and humid, but the beautiful surroundings and Julie's willingness to help in any way she could made it all worthwhile. I absolutely want to go there again in the fall when it is a little cooler.

Was a wonderful spot. The host was kind and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed, like fire wood, and that we were warm enough. I brought my reactive dog with me and there were no situations where she had to interact with any people or animals. The stars were GORGEOUS! I would highly recommend.
To start this is an absolutely amazing experience! Pond Valley is nice quiet quaint farm hosted by Julie and her amazing furry friend Penny. Julie and her morning biscuits and ham are a MUST!! The site is accompanied by other campsites that are probably 50 to 75 feet apart, which personally is enough. Julie was nothing but the best host, super friendly, accommodating and helpful to any questions about the area or requests. Pond Valley is a Cattle farm so you get the chance to see some cows here and there and other wildlife such a deer and critters. Star gazing is absolutely perfect and the morning sunrises with the fog are breathtaking. 10/10 would recommend!! Julie and Pennys hospitality will definitely have me staying here again :)
Julie is a gracious and hospitable host. She was a great communicator in the lead up to our stay, and warmly welcomed us to her house when we arrived. The stargazing was great, and we had a nice fire.
However, this listing/other reviews do not detail just how CLOSE the campsite is to the house- I didn’t measure, but I’d guess less than 100’ from her back door to the farthest option for placing a tent. It was effectively her backyard-granted, a beautiful one!- but I felt uncomfortable being so close when I was expecting to put my tent in the big rolling fields in the first few photos on the listing. I take some responsibility here, as there are other images of how close the tents are to the house, but they were taken with a wide angle lens and thus added the perception of more space (like realtors do to make house interiors look bigger).
Additionally, the listing says pets are free to be off leash so long as they are within line of sight and have recall. However, she doesn’t mention that she also has a large dog, who’s backyard we are camping in- I didn’t feel comfortable letting my dog out of the car on another dogs turf while the resident dog was out enjoying her own lawn. Julie seemed to pick up on this after I said I didn’t want to mix the dogs and was gracious to put hers back inside while we packed up, which I’m grateful for.
Lastly, given it’s a dogs backyard, there are a lot of dog poops out in the campsite- I found this out the hard way, unfortunately.

Great quiet location….. beautiful stars, sunrises, and sunsets! No complaints, Julie is awesome!
Turning in to the long driveway at Pond Valley was like a step back in time to a more simple and serene way of life. Julie greets guests warmly and offers great hospitality. I parked by an apple tree where I watched the deer eating apples for breakfast and enjoyed a walk around the property bordered by a civil war battle field. The stories I bet this space could tell. Thanks Julie for a great getaway despite uncooperative weather.
I enjoyed my conversation with Julie. Great host! A fun place to stay. I will use this hip camp location again.

Julie’s land was amazing. I got to see deers, groundhogs, rabbits, and lightning bugs. It was very quiet and relaxing. Julie also went above and beyond as a host. It was raining when I first arrived, so she offered I sit on the porch with her. Here, we were able to talk about an array of things, as she pointed out different plants and animals on the land. She offered me additional accommodation options too, in case the rain kept through the night. Once it was time for me to set up, she showed me the best area and also made sure I had everything needed. She even pointed out the best places to watch the sunrise and sunset. Originally, I was supposed to stay for two nights, but unfortunately my tent broke (I believe from a fan I had hanging in the top) and prompted me to head home early. Julie refunded the extra night, with no expectation or mention of doing so. I can’t recommend this place enough, and I hope to be back soon!

Beautiful, peaceful, idyllic farm setting with rolling pastures, morning mist, sunsets, etc. Gracious and welcoming hosts. Ideally located for access to Gauley River. Definitely recommend.

I absolutely loved staying here! Hosts were amazing and very friendly and helpful if needed,but gave us our space. Would recommend and stay here again
Beautiful property! Julie responded so quickly. Kalie and her dog Colby were amazing hosts! They took care of us so well. As two college girls, we felt very safe tent camping! The property is close to the New and Summersville Lake! Would 10/10 recommend!
Had a great stay with Julie. She is very responsive. The camping area is plenty roomy!
