When I closed my Glamping Business in Big Sur, CA, in 2016 I was looking for a new place to call home and the universe told me to check out Southern Oregon. Being German, I fell in love with the Applegate Valley because it reminds me of the German Alp Region of Algovia ("Allgaeu"). We are a tiny community here on my 7 acres of land including a couple of sweet dogs. My favorite spot ever since I discovered this property has been the barn and I have finished renovating it during Covid Lockdown. I am looking forward to hosting people who love nature and the quiet, who would like to unplug from the urban bustle and who have a passion for design and unconventional living spaces. New 2023: I added two small flat spots with partial tree shade for tent set-up :-). The CamperVan/RV site is a large flat area, a bit further down the hill from the barn (2 minutes walk, make sure to wear good shoes and have a flash light with you - terrain is a bit uneven). You can pick and chose your favorite spot, just know that a second party might camp down there as well, but the space is large enough to get privacy ;-)There could be possibly up to 3 parties camping at the same time.

On leash. The dogs who live on the property are usually free roaming and they will for sure come visit you, they are all friendly. I am emphasizing this, because if you are scared of dogs, are not used to dogs or do not like dogs, my place (unfortunately) might not be the right spot for you :-(. You are welcoome to bring your well-behaved dog with you. He/she HAS to be on the leash AT ALL TIMES or until your dog has met the other dogs on the property and they all get along!!!

No campfires

Absolutely no open flames around the tents at any time! That includes cooking, campfires and smoking.

Potable water available

Pump or well. You will have access to the Outdoor Kitchen which is located in a semi-outdoor setting in the big gray barn. Our well water is clean and tastes very sweet and smooth.

Showers available

Hot water . Hot Outdoor Shower with Mountain Views available from May until end of October.

Bins available

Recycling bin, trash bin. This HipCamp strongly supports Recycling and is asking for mindfulness about packaging brought to site and waste in general! There are several farm stores in the Valley where you can get fresh produce and meat. Please reduce your waste to a minimum!

Cooking equipment present

Bbq, communal, stovetop or hot plate, cooking utensils, basic seasoning and oils, sink or other dishwashing station. The kitchen has a sink, gas stove, prep area, trash can and basic cooking utensils. Please provide your own camp dishes and pots and pans. If you need anything extra or have forgotten anything, I surely can help you out ;-) Be aware that there could be up to 3 parties camping and they will potentially all use the outdoor kitchen.

I stayed 2 nights at the dispersed camping site. I felt safe and enjoyed the quiet. It requires to walk up to the beautiful barn to access the outdoor shower & toilets, where the patio with amazing views is also located. Beautifully Designed & Amazing Host

Caroline was an amazing host, going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. She was incredibly friendly, detailed in her instructions, and genuinely cared about my experience, even inviting me into her beautifully designed space. We had a lovely long talk over a sunset dinner on the patio, amongst the lavender field, which was a highlight of my trip. The camping clearing was quiet and well-maintained, and I was especially grateful for the hot water shower. The entire barn was stunningly renovated and the gardens were gorgeous, showcasing Caroline's talent as an artist/designer. Her warmth and hospitality made me feel truly welcome, safe (I was a solo female traveler) and I can't wait to return.

We had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the property and views!! It was really nice to have the barn for shade and cooking. I really loved the creative decorations. Dining at the barn for sunset was a highlight. Caroline is a gracious host, very thoughtful and respectful. Really enjoyed meeting her. We will certainly be back!!

Very cute setup, the hosts are friendly and helpful. It is quite a walk up a steep hill to the bathroom, so keep that in mind if you have limited mobility or need quick access.

Blissful getaway!

We stayed with Caroline for 6 days and it was amazing! She clearly loves to host and treated us like friends come to town. So nice to have the kitchen, toilet and shower. The views are incredible. Our pup had such fun with the dogs in the neighborhood. So much to do right nearby. I could go on and on! We will definitely be back.

Truly Serene

We had such a lovely time. Caroline was so nice and the common area is beautiful and functional. The view is phenomenal. We saw turkeys and a huge jackrabbit, plus one of the dogs came down and hung out for cuddles and snacks for a while. We took her advice and visited the local wineries and had a great time. It was such a beautiful, peaceful space. We'll be back!

Caroline's special place in the Applegate Valley is such an amazing setup to behold! I really enjoyed seeing how she up-cycled the barn into 2 parts; An upstairs modern apartment and a downstairs open air dining area, outdoor kitchen/sink/gas burners/pots & pan's, and fire pit centric living room. This has inspired many ideas for alternative living spaces. It's clear in all the well appointed details that she has a lot of experience & good taste to share, and I was delighted to find out how she's involved with the local community and contributing to helping others with their design layout of similar hosting spaces. Camping in her meadow was ideal because when the sun rises, it casts a shadow from the hill & trees, and you get an extra canopy of shade to sleep in longer. This also makes for excellent views of the valley at sunset. I also love dogs and brought extra treats for making friends with her two fur babies, Frida & Emma, and seeing how well they get along with the neighbors' dogs as they played together was a bonus. Overall, 10/10, all the glamping amenities + beautiful 🌄 sunsets + sleeping-in shade + happy fur 🐾 babies + a fun fire🔥 side chat if you're lucky! Looking forward to returning🎊

Overall the experience was fine. The site we stayed at was 15ft from another occupied tiny home. The shared barn had a lot of nice amenities however it was under a lived in space and next to a permanent RV installation. Both we were unaware of at booking and felt uneasy towards. Notably, our site was a fair trek from the shared barn which is noted it the listing and we were expecting. However, the additional lack of privacy made this trek more arduous then expected. We wouldn't return but didn't have a major issue. We appreciated the garden, the cat, and the dogs roaming the property.

We loved Caroline’s place. We were in our CamperVan on a longish road trip so it was really nice to spread out, use the kitchen and washer, and soak up the gorgeous property. We also *really* liked Caroline :-). Note that you might be down the hill, requiring a short walk up to the barn with its lovely common spaces. Applegate Valley and Ruch are also super nice-I’m ready to move lol!

Kind host who’s creating a peaceful retreat in sunny, level spot in the woods just outside Jacksonville n close to trails n vineyards. In a neighborly area so if campers are respectful this will be a great site to keep coming back to! I sure hope to! Even had some wild turkeys visit.

The host was super friendly and the area is beautiful. Nearby Jacksonville is charming with an amazing coffee shop. The campsite itself is ok. If you’re looking for privacy, this is not the place for you as all the tents are in the same area with no trees. The composting toilet has no roof, so if it’s raining that’s not ideal. Would probably be fine in summer.

Loved Caroline’s space!! She was very warm and welcoming! Her dogs were well behaved and super cute. She told us about the electric flower festival and it was awesome! If she hasn’t changed the directions: do not make the first left on the first dirt road. That is private property. Take the road until you see the brown road sign with house numbers(I think) take a left and drive to the end where you see her grey barn on the left. You will love your stay! Definitely recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay with Caroline! Host was super helpful in getting us booked last minute. We brought a tent and she met us as soon as we arrived to show us around with her two cute dogs! Great host and space. She makes it very welcoming. Kitchen area, outdoor shower and compost potty were all great to have. Tenting spots were level with drive up access. Just bring ear plugs if you do to want to wake with roosters and barking dogs!
