Beautiful place with fine caveats
The property is really beautiful and while the camp sites are open and visible from one another, there is lots of distance from one to the next. There is a bathroom on site and each site has its own garbage can, which is nice. Having said that, I cannot recommend this property if you’re tent camping.
There was very little communication before, during, and after. Not a big deal, but noticeable. The biggest problem though is that I couldn’t get my tent set up for two reasons. First, anywhere that had clear ground to set up my tent, the ground was so hard that I couldn’t get my stakes more than halfway into ground (that’s using a hammer for the stakes too). I don’t have the strongest tent stakes in the world, but they’re very commonly used MSR stakes. I tried for over an hour. Secondly, any place where I could get my stakes in the ground was covered in animal poop. I’m not exaggerating either. Probably 90% of the ground at my site had animal poo everywhere. Obviously I didn’t want to set up my $600 tent on top of animal poop, so I literally just threw away my reservation money and left to go stay at the local Best Western. The surprise experience pushed me to stick with state/federal campgrounds, Airbnbs, or hotels before using Hipcamp. Much less unexpected scenarios like this.
So if you’re car camping, it’s an okay spot. But if you’re tent camping, do yourself a favor and find another spot. Trust me.
