Super cool spot that Brian has. Very relaxing and peaceful! The directions to get to his place were very clear and we got there safe- make sure you pay attention because there is absolutely no service, as stated. The drive up was not bad at all with a compact style suv. It is secluded, but if there is someone staying down the way in the cabin they might walk the trail that leads to the campsite, which once they realized they turned around. We spent a day there, but wish we had more time to stay a couple more days. Bring only necessities because you do have to cross over a tree log bridge (super neat) and hop down a rock, we had no issues crossing over and we had our dogs. The water was felt so nice, beautiful, and refreshing! Very peaceful, highly recommend.

Hands down one of the best campsites I’ve stayed at. It was clean, secluded, and picturesque. Brian was extremely friendly and seemed like a great guy who cares about the land. We had a fantastic stay and enjoyed playing in the creek.

A little bit of Shangri-La in Western North Carolina. Campsite was immaculate with amazing setting next to a beautiful stream which provides great background noise, not that any is needed because it is very private. The water also helps keep the surrounding air cooler as it was at least 5-10 degrees cooler than Robbinsville which is 20 minutes away. Met the owner Brian who is a skilled carpenter and it shows in the work he has done to the campsite. Outhouse only (very clean), bring your own water and wood.

I have booked Hipcamps that cost twice as much and not half as nice. We absolutely loved our stay at the Island Site. Brian has put so much time and love into these camp sites. We will definitely be back. When we camped in early May, no issues with mosquitos, but bring some repellant as it gets warmer would be safe. Bring some dry kindling for your fire. This is a very tropical area, so everything on the ground is always a bit moist. If your tent requires stakes, bring some line so you can stake off of the level platform.

Brian has created a beautiful oasis in the middle of the wild NC mountains! The Islandsite is surrounded by rushing mountain streams on either side. It hit the sweet spot of feeling both safe and private. And Brian hit the perfect balance of being welcoming and informative while also giving you space and privacy.
My dog LOVED being able to wander the island off-leash and I loved hearing the roar of the water instead of the roar of engines chasing the Dragon nearby. The hiking was gorgeous, the bathroom clever and clean, and there are sweet little treasures (both man and nature made) to be found on the island.
DO put Cedar Cove Church in your GPS and follow Brian's excellent directions from there, otherwise you will end up on Dirk (?) something road which is VERY sketching but doable.
Smokey and I both thank you Brian for a wonderful time!

I loved staying at the Diamondstone!! I am a returning guest on Brian’s property and my stay was amazing as always. The cabin was so lovely, cozy and well built. The site was very well maintained and peaceful. I love love love the creek that runs behind the cabin. It’s a natural white noise. Directions to the site were very clear and Brian was responsive and helpful. The check out instructions were clear too and Brian provided all supplies needed to keep the cabin clean for the next guest. I will definitely be back.

A Beautiful & special place
Site is absolutely gorgeous, clean and quiet. Nestled in a valley of North Carolina’s mountains, situated where the Squally Creek and the Little Buffalo Creek meet is this awesome camp site. Parking is perfect for car camping, flat/level tent platform and camp fire pit are precisely placed for a cozy, safe environment. Picnic table, small gathering of tools for the campfire pit and elevated grill were very well maintained. We brought our dog and she had an awesome time. Brian’s driving directions were very helpful.
He met us briefly and was the perfect host. (It’s more off the beaten path than we expected making it even better with no distant highway traffic sounds!)
Buy/Bring your own seasoned firewood. No cutting down native firewood…leave the woods as you found them. Someone had left some and so did we. We Highly recommend this site, host and season.

Great atmosphere and Brian was the best host. The scenery and overall experience was A+ listening to the Creek at night with the windows opened was surreal. We will definitely come back and highly recommend.

This was my first ‘solo camping’ trip with my companion Sir Eggz of Benedict, aka Bennie, and Diamondstone did not disappoint. Brian welcomed us upon arrival and ensured that I was in safe land. This location was private, which I loved the most, other than the most beautiful landscape I have ever been to camping . This is a special place.

This site was great! We had a good bit of rain during our stay so the cabin was a great place to stay dry. Even with the rain, the site wasn’t a muddy mess. Our first day there was dry and beautiful. Would definitely come back.

Loved our stay at this cabin. The cabin is in a beautiful spot, very peaceful and serene. Loved the view. Would love to come back again when the weather is a little warmer. There is a propane fireplace which heats the cabin perfectly in cold temps. The only downside is that it’s on a timer with three different increment settings and the max time was 120 minutes so it was a little bit of pain having to set alarms on our phone to go off every two hours so we could get up and turn it back on, as temps got down in the 20’s that night. But, we were still very grateful to have had the heat. 10/10 would recommend this cabin. Brian accepted our booking very last minute and even worked with us to switch from the tent site we originally booked, to the cabin instead so we could have the heat. Brian communicated great with us and responded very quickly. Thanks for sharing your cabin, it’s wonderful.

Brian was an accommodating host who went out of his way to call me right away after booking to let me know what to expect for camping that night including directions, road conditions, campsite conditions and tips for winter camping.
I ended up having a great night! It's a beautiful site in a remote out of the way location by a beautiful mountain stream. It's about 20-30 minute from town, shops and cell phone connectivity; a perfect place to disconnect.
Camp amenities include a picnic bench, grill, a camp toilet and a platform for your tent.
The road in is not great, but drive slow and you should be OK!
I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay here, you won't regret it! I hope to be back again sometime.

My girlfriend and I camped here and we love it here. It’s nice to get away in a private and nice area. The toilet bags he supplies is very durable! It’s nice that there is a heater in the cabin. The cabin has a nice authentic cabin smell and the drive to is easy where you mostly just stay on one road. Brian, the host, is very communicative. I love how the cabin and backyard look especially with the trees, creekside, and pieces. WE WANT TO STAY HERE AGAIN!

Wonderful cabin camping experience! It’s exactly what we were looking for. The creek is right in your backyard, felt very private, and the cabin had everything that we needed to feel very safe and comfortable. It was a magical space that we will be thinking about for a long time. Would love to go back some day.

The Heartstone campsite was amazing! The wood platform was perfect for a tent & the view of the creek next to the fire pit made lounging by the fire very relaxing. 10/10 would recommend staying here if you are looking for a laid-back getaway with awesome views.
Definitely make this a 2 day minimum trip. The directions were perfect.

This is the kind of place that you don't mind staying at the cabin all day. I could sit right outside on the bench next to the creek forever lol. Everything was fantastic. Thanks so much for sharing your property with the rest of us!! We hope to be back in the future!

Beautiful little camping spot and so peaceful next to the water. It was very cold and rainy my first morning and Brian was my hero bringing me a cup of warm cider and even offering me a move to the cabin. He was at his camper but respected our space. Wasn’t an issue at all.
All of his campsites have such thoughtful and creative little touches. Brian takes care of ea site and the extra amenities are well appreciated.
My stay at Islandsite was great. I can’t wait to come back and stay at the other sites too!
Just book it. Don’t hesitate.

Perfect little oasis to disconnect and recenter myself and the pup! Brian was very hospitable. Brought by hot apple cider in the morning, along with extra wood and cleaning supplies. This land and the blood, sweat and tears put into creating such a space deserves to be greatly revered.
I tend to choose new places, but this is somewhere I would absolutely return.

I was planning a father/son camping weekend in our tiny RV when I discovered we had lost our keys to the hitch ball lock. I didn’t want to cancel the trip and went on hipcamp and found this incredible cabin.
It was everything we were looking for and more. The cabin was just the perfect amount of space, clean, and beautiful. The location was stunning, located directly on a wonderful river (our dog loved this feature), and tucked away into the mountains. A lot of care and planning went into this cabin and the experience of the guests.
I particularly loved the drive in on the dirt roads and observing the other cabins scattered along the river.
We will be back many, many times.

This was our second year visiting one of Brian’s campsites. This year we stayed at Heartstone. It was absolutely beautiful. Very peaceful, private and serene. Listening to the waters rushing while the leaves are falling are reason enough to visit in the fall. Outside from nature though, Brian takes great care of his sites and provides a grill with camping utensils, necessary bathroom amenities and truly cares about his visitors and ensuring they have a great time. We will be back for year 3 and are already counting the days!

We loved this spot! Brian was super nice and available if we needed anything but for the most part made himself scarce. The camping spot was beautiful, private and serene. The creek was so nice to sleep next to and explore in. We were relaxed the whole weekend. We also went out the little driveway and hiked up to the left for a good bit. Our dogs loved it and we loved it! We will definitely be back!

Magical! That is the ONLY word to describe this beautiful place. Very peaceful. If you are looking to disconnect from the modern day stressors of life-this is the place! Brian was such a kind and attentive host. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. My son even caught fresh trout in the stream, which we had for dinner. Nothing like fresh fish over an open flame. Delicious. We enjoyed visiting his little slice of paradise in NC!

We absolutely LOVED our trip to Mountain Creek Rest !! We stayed at the Heartstone campsite and there’s very little that could be improved upon. Brian is the sweetest and he came to check in with us each morning - our pups absolutely loved him. The property is absolutely beautiful and the creek is so relaxing. We got a 5 person tent on the platform and a 10 person tent on the flat gravel as well 2 hammocks. There was a charcoal grill with a few cooking utensils (cast iron pan & spatulas) as well as a well maintained fire pit area. The outhouse was clean and close by! The only thing I would say is you MUST follow Brian’s directions to the site and have a car that is able to drive rough backroads. We will be returning !! :)
