Cathy and her family are amazing hosts and have a beautiful property. They were so welcoming to my family and made us feel at home. The cabin itself is so cozy, the loft bed was great, my daughter loved looking out over the woods from bed in the evening and morning. The wood stove kept the room warm throughout the night. Will definitely be staying again next time we need to get away for a quick weekend trip!

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It’s tucked back in the woods behind there main place far enough that you can’t see or hear anything from their farm… really makes you feel like you are alone in the woods! It was about 30 degrees overnight but the wood stove kept the cabin comfortable. We also like the extra touch of already set up hammocks, and a hand built bench by the fire pit. Great option for “camping” during the fall or spring if you don’t want to face the cooler temps in a tent. Hiked 20 miles between Forestville state park and lake Louise state park which are both close to the cabin site.

My family and I (2 adults, 3 and 8 year old) loved staying at the cabin on Cathy’s goat farm. We arrived on an unexpectedly cold and snowy spring weekend, and I was afraid we were in for a cold and wet weekend. Not the case! The cabin was toasty warm (Cathy was thoughtful to warm it up for us in advance) from both an indoor propane heater and an enclosed fireplace. With that and the duvets we brought, it was a cozy retreat. Bonus points for the games provided and helpful supply boxes in case we forgot any essentials!
Cathy is a friendly and thoughtful host. Definitely get the eggs from the farm chickens and special handmade goat milk soap (the scents are SO good). She let us have our space, but was right there anytime we had a question or needed help. Our bonus hosts - Cathy’s three kids - were also so kind and friendly to my daughters, and they had a bunch of fun playing on the trampoline, playground and around the property.
The definite highlight of the trip for all of us were the goats and other farm animals! My daughter got to hold a goat kid that had just been born hours before, which was truely magical. Being able to hang out in the field with a huge herd of goats, a few calves, chickens, friendly barn cats and dogs really made the trip special. All the animals were so friendly!

The sites are well spread out and Cathy is a wonderful host who we got to meet in person - I really appreciated that! The water was a small stroll from our particular site, so bring necessary containers - but we had no issues :) The site felt roomy and we were lucky to get a weekend with perfect fall weather. Cathy is a good communicator, the goats were amazing, and I would return and recommend.

We had such a fun time at the cabin! The wind was crazy and we were unable to have a fire but that was fine, there was plenty to do. We enjoyed the animals and the family who owns the farm is amazing. The kids showed my son and I around and they were very kind. The hosts answered all questions right away and were able to unblock a day so we could stay for the time we wanted. The trails on the land and the views were amazing!

Great spot for our teardrop camper! Quiet and private spot, and very good as a base for exploring local breweries, Forestville State Park as well as the Root River bike trail! Cathy is very welcoming and has great recommendations, which included, Karst Brewing in Fountain! 😋

This was a lovely place to camp in the woods with good privacy and spacing between the sites. Our site was near the edge of the woods near a cornfield. There was some traffic noise in the morning. Map was provided. Lots of trails for the kids to bike around on. The goats were fun and Cathy and family were kind and approachable.

A peaceful getaway! 🌿✨
We absolutely LOVED our stay in the cabin! It was a perfect getaway for myself, my husband, and our senior dog. The cabin was such a cute and cozy space and it felt very private. Cathy was so kind to show us around the property and introduce us to their goats, too! We did some hiking and fishing nearby but one of the highlights of the trip was being surprised to walk out of the cabin and see the northern lights! We were at the right place at the right time. Overall, it was so peaceful to be tucked away in the woods for a few days. Thank you for sharing your lovely space with us, Cathy! 10/10 recommend staying here!

Wonderful rustic sites
It was a great rustic camping spot. The trails to the sites were pretty narrow and we were in a van. It was fun to see the goats!

It was absolutely perfect! No complaints! Very clean, the cabin was made with love and and by someone who knew what they were doing. Very well thought out cabin and area altogether. The host was so very accommodating even though (shamefully) we were running about 4 hours behind!!! She was go very gracious, helpful, kind, and welcoming. We had everything we needed in the cabin and I would visit again in a heartbeat !

We had the best time staying here! The property is massive and private and so beautiful, I wish we had a couple more days! I recommend going when the nights are a little cooler, as the cabin can get a bit warm at night. But the cabin was even nicer than the pictures! Plus the goats were ADORABLE and I so appreciated the trust in us being able to pet them and enjoy them whenever we wanted :)

I loved the secluded area! We had plenty of firewood, and a great fire pit and plenty of room for the tent, van, and everything else we took with us. The host was very responsive. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Cathy’s! The space was very private, with lots of room. We stayed while going to the Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park.
Cathy was a wonderful hostess, taking us back to the campsite and giving recommendations around the area. Our experience was great and so was watching the goats at the farm!

Absolutely a an amazing experience
This was an absolutely AWESOME experience!!! My husband and I stayed only one night as we were on a week long trek of our beautiful state...after staying at upscale hotels like the Charmant, we couldn't wait to come here, have a bonfire & hear nature sounds in this cozy, gorgeous hand built cabin!!!! The land is expansive with wooded privacy plus this beautiful clearing...trails and the feeling of really relaxing!! The host were incredible, nice & very warmly welcoming!!! The cabin & grounds are clean!! We will have to come back!!! THAN YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

We loved our experience on Cathy’s land! It ended up being a rainy day and luckily her cabin was available. So worth it! The little cabin is beautifully handcrafted. There were fun games to play and the swinging chair was so peaceful. We will be back sooner than later!

Cozy and private
Great little cabin. Lots of privacy, great for families, lots of animals between the livestock k and wild turkeys. The only thing to be aware of is that the road out to the cabin can get dicey if it rains and you don’t have AWD. The walk from the main house to the cabin is only about 5 minutes, so not a huge deal. Just something to be aware of for packing/accessibility needs. Cathy was fantastic and gave us a lift out to the cabin on her side-by-side.

This was our first Hipcamp ever and glad Cathy was our first! She was friendly, attentive, and informative host! Kathy, her husband, and little helpers helped us settle in when we arrived a little late. The entrance and getting to the site is a bit intimidating, but you get used to it. I’d definitely recommend a car with all AWD, it is a little bit of off roading and up hills. We were shocked that there were no bugs! The fire pit has a small grate that is removable. The out house is located closer to the cabin. Cathy was amazing at accommodating for us when we were struggling to start a fire when it our campsite and wood/twigs was damp. She was able to give us some dry kindle wood to help with the fire. The place she recommended for trout fishing was a pretty good spot too! Landed a few good sized trouts. Overall, the stay was great and relaxing. Thank you again for the wonderful stay! I would definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway.

I had a great time camping in the woods! The set up with a fire pit, outdoor rug for a tent, the wood and an outhouse close was great. The campsite is private--which is just what I was looking for and Cathy was a fabulous host!

An enjoyable stay!
Cathy was very welcoming and was flexible with an earlier arrival time which we really appreciated. The cats and 2 dogs we met were so sweet. The trails through the wooded patch of land are well kept and easy to navigate. The proximity to Preston was perfect for us. We tent camped this time, but it’s fun that they have a simple cabin “glamping” option also if a roof is desired!

Lovely and very private site in the woods for a girls weekend! Cathy was a great host! The water and bathroom is kind of far away from the site, so be prepared that.
