We loved Krystle's IO's Nest! It was comfortable, adorable, and atop a hill with spectacular views of the hillside looking down to the ocean from the spacious deck. The sunrise was incredible! The private outdoor shower was amazing and had mood lights, soap/shampoo, and flowers peaking under the bottom of the walls. It was an easy 20 minute walk to Akaka Falls, and there was a fruit stand just outside the first gate where we bought star fruit and coconut from the neighbor. The place was easy to find, and Krystle was an excellent host. She answered all our questions promptly, and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The Nest had electricity, cell service, wifi, an electric kettle and tea, coffee maker with coffee and filters, and a large charging station with USB and AC outlets. There was also a covered parking area right next to the Nest for our motorcycles. We would definitely stay here again!

We loved the staying at Krystle’s lookout nest. It has an amazing view and has everything and a lot of details. Would totally come back or recommend to friends.

I love the view from the deck it so captivating I sat there for hours with a hot cup of coffee . The property is well maintained and full of lush . Krystle was very welcoming and pleasant. Even the kids on the property was very welcoming while catching lizards in the yard … I would definitely stay here again …

What a magical and private location! Super cozy and comfy for two with all the amenities to be comfortable. If it rains, the large umbrella cover's the entire deck so you can still enjoy the beautiful views.

Io's nest was a gorgeous and comfortable stay! Coqui frogs and the sound of rain on the metal roof was soothing and easily serenaded us to sleep. Close to Akaka Falls (an easy 30 ish min walk right from the stay). The host (Krystle) was super responsive, gave good explicit directions. Comfy bed with stellar views, especially of the sunrise over the ocean. Nice to have a sink right on site, with access to a bathroom and outdoor shower nearby. Strongly recommend staying here!

I enjoyed my first stay at the Nest and was excited that it was open again when I came back to this side of the island.
My first stay had lots of rain overnight (great natural white noise) and rainbows. My second stay was clear and dry, so it was cool to experience the variety.
I didn't have any issues with bugs...the geckos kept to themselves, I kept food out of the Nest and slept inside the mosquito net. The sliding doors have a latch that holds them in place overnight so they don't swing (i also propped a suitcase against the door but that wasn't needed).
The sink at the entrance is really handy for washing fruit, utensils, brushing teeth, and I appreciated the fridge in the garage.
Highly recommend stopping at The Hive in Honomu, and Piilani Kitchen in Pepeekeo for yummy food.
I already miss the views from this special spot.

Highly recommend! Has all the amenities including a coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, outdoor shower and a restroom. Beautiful views and amazing proximity to Akaka falls and local shops. The host were kind enough to let us check in early since we were close by.

I loved staying in the Nest. It was offered just the quiet beauty I needed to recharge. The views from here are stunning, the real toilet, shower and wifi were very much appreciated and Krystle was prompt responding to messages. I wish I could’ve stayed longer.

Beautiful views, lovely little spot with a porch to enjoy meals and games. Great proximity to Akaka falls, which is a must see. Also, don't miss out on visiting Ed's bakery in Honomu and an awesome shop called Glass from the Past, we spent over an hour their chating with the owner "Peaches", an amazing person with a beautiful soul, can't miss.

Outdoor shower. The views 10/10. The camp has electricity, EXCELLENT wifi if you want to stream or work from home. They provided clean towels, a kettle, and a mosquito repeller device - far more than anything I expect from glamping.

My wife and I chose this for an overnight stay on our way from Hawi to Pahoa. Great value for the price, we absolutely loved this place! It's probably a 5 min max drive to Akaka Falls and less than 30 min to Hilo. The property was very easy to navigate, even at night. The super cute and clean gazebo is extremely private, had good Wi-Fi, plenty of room for two, and the bed had a nice bug net, which we ended up needing. The pictures on Hipcamp are accurate, better in person, and pretty much show it all except the carport and the bathroom/shower. The covered carport is right next to gazebo which was really nice because it rained during our stay. The bathroom, fridge, and outdoor shower were up a rocky driveway about 50 feet at the house. I recommend a lite raincoat and a good flashlight if you plan to glamp here when it's raining, especially if you need to use the facilities at night. We didn't have any problems with any wild critters, but it gave us good piece of mind to have the extra bright flashlight at night. Would definitely stay here again!!!

Glamping at its finest! Unbeatable views, and we were lucky to have great weather for amazing star viewing, and the host has made this spot very dark sky friendly. The soundscape of nature here is truly amazing. Bring layers cus it can get chilly, but the host provides plenty of blankets to keep you cozy. Also treated with excellent in room coffee. The outdoor shower/restroom worked fine and felt private. This was our favorite stay on the island!

IO’s nest was an affordable, easy, and simple place to stay on our drive from the Kona side to the Hilo side. The stargazing and the view of the full moon rising over the ocean was beautiful and we got some good nighttime long exposure photos. The outdoor shower was fine. Having a mini fridge meant we didn’t need to pick up ice for our cooler on the way there. There’s a small hand washing sink beside the gazebo and the covered car parking has a propane grill. I slept soundly through the night but my partner woke up to some kind of rodents scurrying back and forth inside across the gazebo. I wouldn’t leave any kind of food out inside the space.

I am utterly obsessed with the IO Nest Lookout and Krystle’s land. So wonderful and she was so kind and communicative throughout my stay. The land is gorgeous and there were so many cute animals around. I want to stay longer the next time I’m back on the Big Island. Thank you again!

Man!! What a place!! Literally, minutes from Akaka Falls. View, views, and views for miles while watching the sunrise 🌅. Donkeys, cats, boars, geckos, birds, and full of life. A must visit.

The hosts went above and beyond to make our trip special. The lookout was so dang cute and comfortable not to mention the gorgeous views. They even had a car port which was clutch when it was raining. The shower and bathroom were lovely and close by. We enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend it to fellow glampers.

We loved the Io’s nest! Spectacular view of the Hamakua coast. Super quiet, but not a far drive from Hilo town. There’s an outdoor shower and toilet a little walk away. And bonus- you can pet some donkeys if you’re in the mood!

Krystles's home is in a gorgeous area surrounded by plant life. The place feels very private and is perched on the side of a hill overlooking the surrounding flora and coastline. They were super friendly and instructions very clear. So hospitable and had everything I could possibly need. In the morning the donkeys were hugging in the middle of the road, the sweetest sight ever!!! I passed safely by and one of them followed me to the gate, so I got out to make sure he/she didn't follow me out and to say hi, so sweet!!! I told him/her to go back after a few nose rubs and he/she turned around and waited for the gate to close. Best send off ever. Shower was private, hot, and loved the tile texture in the backsplash. Very enjoyable stay here, wish I coulda stayed longer. Mahalo nui loa, Krystle!
