Weekend Trip to Sunset Hale
Loved staying at sunset hale. It’s very low-key. It had everything we needed and was very clean. Any issues we had come up the hosts were super responsive to help out, they even offered us a partial refund for an inconvenience we had which was super kind of them. This is a less busy area but still close to touristy towns. There is an (expensive) grocery store just down the street, coffee shops, and dinner spots just a minute away. They had great wifi. The laundry was an amazing plus since everything gets wet and dirty with beach/rain (honestly a must-have). I’d highly recommend this place if you don’t mind staying small and simple. I’d only stay here as 2 people, even adding a baby here would be a lot in the small space. Glad we stayed :)

I stayed in a cute ‘tiny’ house on Natalie’s property for 2 nights, with a very comfy loft bed and all the kitchen, bath and outdoor dining space needed for a perfect home base!

Cozy space, everything we needed and more! Perfect for post-backpacking the Kalalau trail and adjusting back to society. Also they have a cute, friendly cat to keep you company…chickens too! Super close walk to all shops and eateries and about a 35 min walk to a beautiful beach (kahili beach preserve).

without a doubt, our kauai trip wouldnt have been as beautiful as it was, if we wouldnt have stayed at nathalie's. first of all, the accommodation is made with so much love, the place matches the pictures and everything was super clean. the location is a 10/10 since you have everything you need in walking distance. (like supermarket, cafes, restaurants) hanalei is only a short drive away. nathalie makes sure you will have a great time on the island by sharing beautiful places, options to go surfing, snorkeling & kayaking. if the accommodation wouldnt have been booked, we would have loved to extend our stay. it was a pleasure to meet nathalie and her family. and we were so sad to leave. we will definitely come back and would recommend this place to everyone dearly.

We had the best time staying at Natalie’s Sunset Hale. My husband and I stayed for almost a week and the ‘Goodbye’ felt like leaving family behind. Natalie and her children let us visit their horses (and even ride them), gave us hiking tips and we overall felt well taken care for. The accommodation itself is located very central to Princeville and Hanalei. We’ll definitely come back!! :-)

Overview
About
Created to protect the Kalalau Valley, this park is unique for lots of reasons.
Thanks to careful preservation, it hasn't changed much. Plus, besides its jaw-dropping beauty, this park is very remote and hard to reach. The only way to camp on the coast is by backpacking or boating in.
The hike along the 11-mile Kalalau trail takes a lot of effort through narrow valleys and sometimes nerve-wracking cliffside terrain. It's not for the acrophobic!
Kayaking in may be easier but presents its own set of challenges. Either way, it will be totally worth it when you pitch your tent on the secluded Kalalau beach (camping permits are required).
Even in the summer months, you can spend your days feeling like you are on your own personal island. Enjoy picture perfect Pacific Ocean beaches (skinny dipping recommended!), the Napali Cliffs at your back, and night skies that may turn you into a mystic. Ok Napali coast, you win!

Kayaking the Na Pali Coast is only an option during the summer months (roughly April - September) due to the large surf that occurs on that coastline during the winter.

4 waterfalls along the hike and the breathtaking views will make you forget about how thirsty or tired you are. It's a long hike but there's nothing about it that makes it too difficult. When you get to the end there are some trails up into the hills and you'll most likely see a few tents by the beach.

Greatest place I have ever camped. The 12 mile hike in is treacherous but well worth the beauty you will encounter. I learned a lot about myself on this hike.

My favourite campspot on Kauai! It's really close to Hanalei and the hike to the campsite is totally gorgeous. Only thing is you can't really swim because of the rip currents, but the view makes up for it:) There's also a waterfall nearby you can hike to.
