The property is located on Maui island in the Kula district on the drier side of Haleakala. In days before western contact the area was heavily forested with native plants and trees and rainfall was abundant. The native Hawaiian grew bananas, taro and sweet potato.  After Western contact businessmen mostly from the United States developed huge tracts of land for ranching and farming which cleared the native forests and destroyed the eco system from the mountain to the sea. Many of the Hawaiian people moved away nearer to the towns and immigrant Chinese laborers from the ranches and plantations moved in. The Chinese brought in the Wattle tree to plant for firewood as these trees grew very fast. These are the majority of the trees that you see today. As part of the Chinese immigration, the founder of modern China, Sun Yat Sen lived here for a time and planned his revolution to overthrow the last Chinese Dynasty. There is a park dedicated to him nearby. We have picnic tables a propane grill, a fire pit and a covered gazebo that is shared with 3 cabins This site is located at the 2800 ft altitude and the temperature at night can range from mid 50 to mid 60 degrees F. If you are planning to go to Haleakala, we are about 45 -60 minutes to the summit. We are also on the south side approach to Hana. There is a great restaurant for breakfast and lunch about 10 minutes away in Keokea town called Grandma's Coffee house.

Welcome to a quiet and cool spot to pitch your tent at the 2800 ft elevation of Haleakala. This spot is perfect for only one 2-3 person size tent on a level terraced area. If you have small children and all of you can fit in your tent that will be fine. You must provide your own tent. We have set up a rain/sun tarp under which you can set up your tent. This tent site shares the area with 4 cabins. You will be able to use our comfort station which has 2 flush toilets. We also have an outdoor shower attached to Cabin 2, between Cabin 1 and 2 for your use. There is a propane grill and a gazebo on site. The water on site is drinkable. You will only be allowed one vehicle per tent. Camper Van/jeep is allowed in this site, however, The Parking for this site IS NOT LEVEL if you want to stay in your vehicle, don't complain about it.

The site is a camper/van (21 ft max length-Class B) parking area only no tents or trailers. This site is part of a complex of four cabins, two camper van parking spaces along with one tent camp site. It is located in a forest setting on a 2-acre farm on the slopes of Haleakala a dormant volcano on Maui Island. The site is at the 2800 ft elevation and temperatures can get as low as mid 40-degree F at night during the winter. There are three flush toilets on site, one right at your Parking 5 site. We have an outdoor shower attached to Cabin 2, between Cabin 1 and 2 for your use. There is a propane grill, fire pit and gazebo on site. It is about 30-45 minutes to the summit of Haleakala National Park. There are small restaurants 5 -10 minutes' drive in the area.

Wahi Nanea cabin is located on the slopes of Haleakala, @ 2800 ft elevation, in a quiet secluded forested area on a farm. The three cabins are located next to each other (see photo). Each cabin has no electricity , using only solar powered lighting with a private shower in the cabin. The site has views of nearby islands of Lana'i and Kaho'olawe along with the Mauna Kahalawai, which is the other west mountain of Maui island. At night the sky is filled with stars as there is no background lights to dim the view. Nearby activities include zipline, ATV, horseback riding, biking along scenic Kula hwy, hiking and Haleakala National Park. There also is Maui Winery with features wine tasting and tours. The nearby towns of Pukalani, Makawao and Keokea have places to eat. You can also travel to and from Hana via the south side on the Kula Hwy which is a scenic and less crowded route.     The cabins and amenities provided are on an upscale camping experience. Be aware that if you are looking for a luxurious room with TV, wifi,  complete kitchen with refrigerator, and your own personal toilet then please go to Wailea, Kihei, Ka'anapali, Kapalua or Lahaina. Do not book with us and be disappointed.  This is a camping experience and not a resort.

The amenities and land were beautiful. Would definitely stay here again. The instructions and landmarks were clear and helpful. When we had trouble with our rental vehicle the family on site were helpful and kind when we came to their door.

The cabin sat on a peaceful piece of property with a gorgeous view. The cabin was represented well by the description on the website. It was nothing fancy but met our need for a place to stay while visiting Haleakala National Park.

Such a cute place. Perfect for a quiet getaway. They had all the facilities I needed. Warm shower. Clean toilets. Soft ground for my tent. I even made friends with the chickens.

This place got the job done. We are on a five-day, four-night van camping trip. For our second night around the island, we booked here. The directions to get there are very easy; follow the GPS and the directions in the message sent earlier by the host. If you arrive before it's too dark, that is best. We were in spot five and liked the spot. The bathroom was clean, the spot for the van was nice, and the motion-activated light was great for any late-night or early-morning trips to the bathroom. The shower was so nice, the instructions were straightforward, and a hot shower for the first time in two days felt so good. We saw the sunset below the ocean, and it was spectacular! Overall, if you want a shower, clean bathrooms, and a smaller crowd, this is the place. The bbq grill is much better than the state camps.

Alika’s land was perfect. The cabin was adorable and comfortable, and we really appreciated the hot shower and the clean flush toilets. The place was quiet, even with multiple other campers on site one of the nights we were there. Alika even put a cot in the cabin for our youngest, and we all had plenty of space. The solar lighting worked perfectly and the place was clearly marked with good location instructions for us to follow. We messaged the host with a question and they got back to us right away. And the stars! OMG. We used this as a base for hiking in the national Park and it exceeded all expectations. Would stay again and would recommend to friends!

I had a wonderful peaceful experience. I received very thorough clear directions to the location prior to my arrival. My cabin was the perfect and cozy setup for my three night stay. I had everything I needed for a memorable stay on Alika’s land. If you love stargazing, this is thr place to see them all. If i return to Maui, I will most certainly book another stay on Alika’s Land.

Nice secluded tent spot on grounds near cabins. Chickens and turkeys roamed nearby. Warm showers, drinking water, flushing toilets, trash receptacles and close parking all a bonus over many other camping options in Maui.

Site was well equipped with good toilets and easy to find. Unfortunately we messaged the host the evening of our stay as there was numerous very loud gun shot type bangs very close by while we were in the camper, to which we have still received no reply. Disappointing to pay and then not bother to respond to guests, especially in scary circumstances like this.

We loved our stay at the cabins. Everything was clearly thought out and functional. We were grateful for them providing towels, beach towels, hand-soap, propane canisters, and extra blankets. The stars each night were incredible from the property and the picnic tables underneath the pavilion were a perfect place to have dinner. Having drinking water on site was a HUGE blessing! Things were clean and tidy and we would recommend this site to all.

The cabin was setup perfectly- I really admire the flawlessly configured light sensors and timers which made navigating in the dark easy yet as unobtrusive as possible. The shower setup was excellent and the area very quiet and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable and we slept great. Grandma’s cafe up the road has terrific food and coffee. Highly recommend this camp.

Beautiful setting for a campsite. Probably one of the more posh hip camp sites I’ve ever stayed at with flush toilets and a great outdoor shower. There are very few places to camp on Maui, and it’s by far the best. Highly recommend for viewing the sunset, and a relaxing stay.

Alika’s land is fantastic! The directions were great and led us straight to the campsite! It is really peaceful and the bathrooms and the shower were good. The view is very pretty at sunrise and sunset. We would definitely stay here again. The evenings are cooler in upcountry so we slept the best the 2 nights we were here. Don’t forget to go to Grandma’s Coffee House. Thank you!

The view is lovely, especially for sunset. There weren’t many others there when we were there, so it was especially nice to be able to eat at the picnic table with a special view. The hot shower in the morning was efficient & felt great. All the facilities were well labeled & explained (nice to have recycling!). Alika and her family were very kind when they came through in the morning.

Alika's place was easy to find with clear signage for the various cabins and parking areas. Beautiful views to the southwest and plenty of nature all around made this a pleasant stay.
