Safe campsite in an isolated area, 30-60mins drive to the next closest towns, 15mins away from a store. Sunny lives nearby so you are not in complete isolation.
Sunny's dogs greeted us right away, and her kids not too long after. The dogs dropped by for treats and pets, and the kiddos dropped by for treats and play. Definitely swing by if you have kids! Very friendly and good people
We fit a 10-person tent comfortably. There's a functional sink, and hole-in-the-ground portapotty around the next corner (does not smell!). The closest campsite is at least 3mins walk away so you've got privacy. It is a steep drive down and up, we struggled a little bit with a fully packed up car going up. The stars at night were amazing. The dogs swung by every once in a while to check in on us, never felt safer!
Would come back if we're ever in the area again!

absolutely loved this spontaneous decision to book the tiny house. it was so cozy and cute. the outdoor kitchen and shower were awesome. the bed was super comfy. and the host and her sons were the best! such a sweet family and so accommodating and hospitable. this place is definitely a community feel. you’ll get privacy and solitude, and quiet night sleep, least i did! the fire was lovely in the morning when it was chilly. i brought my own camp toilet, but there is one down a carved out trail that is not accessible to all at current. very private though. in between. the coast and redwoods. amazing stuff to do when not at the tiny house. i just loved my time just, being. it was really so very lovely.

My partner and I loved the tiny cabin! We felt very safe and enjoyed the closeness of the cabin to the families home. The fire stove inside our room was amazing and made the space so cozy and warm. The land was beautiful and all the wisterias were breathtaking. We enjoyed talking and playing with the kids but were also able to have time alone. Sunny was super welcoming and so were her kids and pups. We will be back again 💕

Had a great time spending a couple nights at Sunny’s land! if you love dogs, highly recommend as she has the sweetest dogs :) felt really safe when the pups escorted us to the bathroom and led the way to the site haha
Sunny is also really nice and gave us a ton of fresh eggs! Would definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a nice spot to stay the night to visit Mendocino or any other surrounding areas

One of the best places I've stayed. I usually tent camp, but the lodging experience was tremendously out of this world. The host is such a beautiful person inside and out. She's very attentive and is there for whatever you need. The views from all of the areas I explored were breathtaking. The uniqueness of this place gives it the best charm. I definitely will be coming back. Even just to say hi to her and her family. They truly are wonderful.

Sunny is a wonderful host, she is so kind, warm and welcoming and really creates a sense of community. We really enjoyed this site - it has some of the most beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and stars we have ever seen. Her dogs are so friendly and we really enjoyed having them around to cuddle in our tent and join us for walks. The property is magical and loved being able to walk down to see horses, alpacas, and more. 10/10 recommend and will be back for more! Thank you Sunny and your family for everything, you really made this trip special!

This was a great campsite! Beautiful view over forested mountains.
Sunny was a terrific host! The dogs were super-friendly -- they love to hang out with you, even in the middle of the night, but when you don't want to engage with them, they are totally okay and leave you alone when you need your space.
We loved this campsite.

Orchard Camp
We stayed at Orchard Camp in Sunnyland for a couple of nights at the end of summer, and it was very enjoyable. The kids had a blast, the dogs were very friendly, and the wood stove was great to cook on. Potable water is right there, there's a handy table under a canopy for shade, and the bathroom isn't far away. The night skies are amazing, and just up the hill at the top of the orchard, there's great view of the valley - it was lovely seeing the early morning sun hit the low-lying fog.

Sunny and her land were absolutely great! Her directions were clear
and her two dogs were very sweet as well. Very serene spot among the trees with good shade most of the day and flat areas for tent set up.
There were only two of us but there would have been plenty of room for more to join us.

I had a wonderful time camping at Sunnyland. Sunny was so friendly and helpful. She provided great directions for getting there, and came to greet me right when I arrived. I don’t have 4wd, so I parked closer to the main house and walked my stuff in to the Redwood Forest Area site using a wagon. There are a couple short steep hills that made it a bit of a workout, but it was doable. Sunny also has a Quad she can use to help if needed. The site was nice and private, with a hose from the nearby spring with water, and a large fire pit with a grate for cooking. Plenty of wood to forage from (may be a good idea to bring an axe to cut some branches down to size). There is no table at the site, so I made sure to bring something for a cooking/eating surface. Sunny’s (very friendly) dogs stopped by a few times to say hello, and it was nice to know they were on the property. The property has some beautiful views along the walk to the site and amazing stargazing. Overall great place to camp. :)

We loved camping at Sunny's! The site is beautiful, an amazing place to watch the stars in front of a campfire! Sunny is so kind and made us feel at home. Her boys are a lot of fun, and were super helpful, polite and so funny! The dogs were great too! Wish we had stayed for longer :)

My husband and I came to camp here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we can't wait to go back and bring our daughter!! The views were beautiful! The dogs were also so sweet! Sunny was a wonderful hostess, we loved staying on her land! The stars at night are absolutely stunning and the beach is close by! The area was clean and it was a fun experience.

This hipcamp was so beautiful and quiet, far enough away from the main house to feel completely alone but also close enough to go hang out when I wanted company. Sunny and her kids are so friendly and her sweet dogs Echo & Chloe came by to check on me throughout the weekend, especially when I was cooking sausages. As a solo female camper I felt really safe and welcome here.
You go down a rough dirt road to access the site (Sunny sends a map) and if you get to the parked boats you've gone too far. You can drive into this campsite but the driveway is quite steep. I just barely made it in my Mini Cooper so be aware if you have a small car!

Our group had a great time camping at Sunny's! Our site was just the right size for our four families, and our kids (seven of them, all 1-5 years old) had tons of fun playing saying hi to the chickens and playing on the trampoline. The site was well-shaded, and only a 30 minute drive through some beautiful redwoods to the beach. Sunny was super helpful answering all our questions before and during the trip, and worked hard to make sure we had a great time.

This campsite was serene and beautiful! You did need 4WD to park up by the site otherwise you could park right down the hill from the site, very short walk. There were LOTS of mosquitoes when my group went (over 4th of July during a heatwave) so definitely bring lots of bug spray. The host was very sweet and accommodating.

We unfortunately had a poor experience at this site, as the owner's off-leash dogs came over to our campsite on the first morning and attacked our dog, and knocked our young daughter out of the camp chair she was eating in. We had to leave the site immediately after. The host was very apologetic and helpful in response to the incident, which we very much appreciated. However, I wouldn't recommend this campsite to anyone traveling with pets or young children.

Great place to tent camp. Large flat spot with plenty of space for groups. Surrounded by trees. Very isolated and quiet (occasional dogs were heard at night but otherwise silent). All the kids loved Echo, the dog. He was super friendly and loved all the kids. I would have to say he was the highlight of the trip.
Sunny was very easy to communicate with and very friendly when we arrived. We would definitely stay again.

My friend and I absolutely loved tent camping on Sunny’s beautiful land. She provided clear instructions for finding the site, and was there to greet us with a huge smile when we arrived. The property was stunning - expansive views of the verdant mountains (and sparkling night sky), an abundant garden, and a chicken & duck coop (from which Sunny offered us fresh eggs!). It is also very conveniently located close to tons of local beauty, from ancient redwoods, rivers, and pigmy forests to the iconic coastal town of Mendocino, where we enjoyed one of the best breakfast feasts of our lives! To be clear - this is definitely a rustic stay, so do not expect clamping conditions (think bugs, pit toilet, etc). But for anyone looking for a sweet, peaceful nature retreat - I cannot recommend this place enough!

sweet Ridge top campsite convenient to the coast and Orr Hot Springs. Three of us stayed here for four nights in a four person and two person tent. There was just enough flat space for both of these tents and an adorable kitchen area with a shady spot under the redwoods for our cooler, which remained cool even in hundred degree heat. fabulous view, especially early in the morning with the fog coming in and amazing stars at night. Sunny was a great host and shared a good stargazing app with us and also had Wi-Fi up close to the house. So believe it or not one of us actually got work done. her two dogs are super sweet, echo and Chloe, and kept us company when we wanted it but left us alone if desired. On our last night there were two other camping groups, but we hardly noticed because the sites are so disbursed. All sites are very private even the one that we had close to the house. we will definitely camp here again!

Sunny was such a sweet and welcoming host! Her land is lovely, her boys were super friendly and my kids had the time of their lives chasing chickens and being wild in nature with her kids. We loved meeting her whole crew, which includes the biggest sweetest dogs who made us feel safe and loved. We all had such a fun time and look forward to returning!

We had such an enjoyable time at Sunny’s!
We arrived later than intended and it was getting dark. Sunny was so accommodating and helpful in making sure we got in safely and soundly!! I’d recommend arriving in the daylight as the roads can be windy and the service is spotty on the drive. However even without service we had all the info we need to get there!
The site was perfectly tucked away and private but offered enough to be comfortable including an outdoor toilet and a hose with spring water!! The campsite was large and with Sunny’s help we got a perfect little fire ring set up. Sunny had two dogs on the property and some chickens and ducks and so many fun things! We have a tiny little adventurous dog and she got along so well with Chloe & Echo!
Sunny had some great recommendations on places to see up in Mendocino or the best wineries to check out. We also just loved getting to see everything she’s put together on her land and to be a part of the off grid living!!!

Sunny was incredibly kind and welcoming and it was beautiful up there! Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves, but there is some room for improvement.
The site is very difficult to find and there is no phone service. I would have appreciated more communication beforehand as directions were unclear and we ended up spending 30 minutes searching for Sunny’s house.
The site was not accessible by car which is fine, however that information needs to be included in the listing, not disclosed upon arrival.
Sunny also mentioned that her neighbors up the road were old and that she was trying to keep campers on the “DL”, which made for a bit of an uncomfortable stay.

Sunny was amazing! Our kids loved to see the chicken, played with her kids and got a chance to use the playground.
Our campsite was the top ridge one, we got to enjoy amazing views, had access to a little sink that was great to do the dishes.
Sunny and her family were so welcoming, we even got altogether for s’mores around a bonfire

Sunnyland campground is a very very nice place. The location is gorgeous! It feels wild but it has all you need. We camp on a site where you have your privacy, covered by the trees, but still with an amazing view on the redwoods.
Sunny gave us perfect infos to get there, she is an amazing host, very welcoming, gentle and fun. Her 2 kids are wonderful and they helped us setting our things, and they explained us everything about the campground. They are sweet and made our stay very joyful. They have 2 beautiful sweet dogs that walk around in the night, making sure that other animals stay away from the tents (for a scared person like me they were essencial!!! :D ).
The place has also some trails for hike very well signed.
Sunnyland is perfect for relax, you can hear any noise but birds.

the site is really cozy. it is close to the house, and the chicken/duck coop, so folks looking for more isolation should consider the lower site. but the view is great and the drive into mendecino is lovely

Sunny's place is the perfect intimate redwood getaway! Wonderful for those with children or those wanting exposure to sustainable off-grid living. Great small hikes around the property with spring creeks and plenty of plant life. This location is nestled around so many great hiking and nature destinations which makes it even more ideal!
The farm animals are always a pleasure and there's two very sweet & friendly dogs that are happy accompany you in hikes around the property.

This campsite is GREAT! Such a gorgeous view with very spectacular hospitality. Sunny and her children are very sweet. We feel really grateful to be met with such wonderful, kind-hearted, hosts. I highly HIGHLY recommend this spot if you are looking for community and a gorgeous view. I hope to be back!
