Lake Point Camping
Owners still developing property
The Good: Lesa and her husband are very sweet people who are excellent hosts. They genuinely care about their campers and the experience they have. I’d hang out with them any day! Their land is very pretty and waking up to see the lake glimmering below you between the trees is gorgeous! The middle ground: Camp sites are about 100 yards away from the lake, not right against the water, but the path down to the water is nice. There is a marina across the water that sometimes plays music at night loud enough that you will definitely hear it at your campsite. Campers should expect to run into poison ivy in places around the campsites, and a few ticks - neither of these are unexpected for camping. The bad: Unfortunately for our experience, the campsites rustic bathroom facilities are not up to par for the number of campsites listed. The weekend before we arrived the majority of the campsites were booked and all 30ish campers utilized the same location. The facilities are buckets with a seat and holes drilled in the bottom that allow liquids to drain, but capture the solids. Our campsite was downhill from these facilities, so as soon as it started raining, all the uphill started running down hill. We woke up to an offensive urine odor in our dry tent in the middle of the night. By mid-morning the site was pretty muddy, and given the fact that most of the mud smelled like urine, we packed up in the middle of a rainstorm and took off early rather than try to grab a different site. I‘ve had to trash a couple of ground pads that I couldn’t get the odor out of. — As of the time that I camped Lesa said she had just started using the land for campers, and I don’t think she would have reasonably been aware of this issue. When we left, she and her husband were gone, so I texted them about why we were leaving. While I do think that they will eventually remedy this problem, until they put in a more permanent facility I think the max number of guests should be greatly reduced. I’ve really struggled with this review, because I do think Lesa is working to set up a great place for people to enjoy, but until the time the issue above is remedied, camper beware! Had the issue above not reared its ugly head we would have thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lake Point Camping
Beautiful retreat
Beautiful, remote getaway! Follow the little trail and you’ll come to a secluded cove in the lake. Each camp site has a rock fire pit and mowed area to set up camp in the woods. Lesa and Wayne were super accommodating and very sweet. They are new to Hip Camp and welcome new ideas and suggestions. We’ll definitely be back!

Lake Point Camping
What a fun unplugged Memorial Day weekend my group and our 3 dogs had here. We stayed at campsite #2 and made the best of the unexpected cooler weather. The pictures of campsite that were on website when we stayed were not accurate and this is not a campsite on the water or secluded, however it was a beautiful area and the water point in the early morning was breathtaking. There is a beautiful body of water that is a very short walk down the hill; my dog enjoyed swimming every chance we walked down to the point area. There were other campers near but we had privacy within our campsite. The campsite was on a slight hill but was large enough to accommodate four 6-person tents and a food table & canopy. Our campsite was equipped with plenty of wood (I would bring a chainsaw, axe or some sort of wood chopping tool), a cooking grate for the campfire (we brought a grill with us but didn't even use it), and a “potty” area. The girls in the group were a little worried but upon arrival our nerves were put at ease with the setup of the provided “bathroom” (don't forget to bring TP).  We can’t thank Lesa & her husband enough for their hospitality throughout the entire weekend, from bringing us dry wood the first day to accommodating our last minute add ons, they were the best hosts I have ever experienced through camping or an airbnb trip. Also need to note that the drive to get to the campsite area is a mostly dirt road with rocks and dips throughout; I was glad we brought the truck and SUV. Highly recommend taking a weekend trip here to unplug and relax. Don't forget your eno and a book!

Lake Point Camping
Restful and relaxing.
We really enjoyed our stay at Lake Point Camping! Our site was just a short walk to the lake and we appreciated that though we could see other campers it didn’t feel like our sight was on top of anyone else’s. There is very little to no cellular service at this campsite and it is fairly primitive, but our crew didn’t find those things to be drawbacks.
