Sesquicentennial State Park

Affectionately known as “Sesqui,” this state park is a bastion of green pine forest, and the perfect getaway from nearby Columbia, South Carolina. Sesqui was built during the Great Depression to provide recreational spaces while also conserving the natural landscape, and it’s still doing just that. Sesqui has a little bit of everything. Hiking? Check. Biking? Check. Every type of boat for rent? Check. Scavenger hunt? Yup, even that! Thanks to its top notch facilities and retreat center, Sesqui is often used for company retreats and family reunions, but if you’re just looking for a lil’ getaway, 1,500 acres of land offers plenty of privacy for camping, or just a meditative walk through the majestic live oaks with your pup.
