Wonderful Winter Camping
It’s the third time I have camped here at Knotty Pines and I enjoy this site very much (which is why I keep coming back). Cara is a terrific host and replies quickly to my messages. It is so quiet here and peaceful; the perfect way to unwind with nature.

I had an amazing time camping on Cara’s land! The campsite is absolutely lovely, with soft pine needles covering the ground, making it feel cozy and comfortable to set up the tent. From the moment me and my friend arrived, we were warmly greeted by Cara, the owner, who instantly made us feel at home.
Talking with her and her husband was such a pleasure—they are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and full of great stories. Their hospitality added a personal touch that made the stay even more special.
The natural surroundings were peaceful, and we appreciated the relaxed vibe throughout the property. It’s definitely a place we’ll return to in the future, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a charming and comfortable camping experience.

Beautiful place, make sure wake up early one morning so you can see the view of lake champlain as you drive down their road during golden hour! Fairly remote but not too far of a drive from Peru and Plattsburgh. There's a state forest nearby that you can explore if you'd like. Thanks Cara!

Quiet and Peaceful
Knotty Pines site was amazing! Plenty of space and very peaceful. Cara and her husband are friendly and I enjoyed chatting with them both. I really liked the check-in and check-out times because I felt like I had plenty of time to enjoy the site and didn't have to rush. I really enjoyed my stay and I will be back!

Kind hosts, not the best site
Pond site is sloped no matter where you try to put your tent… pond was a swamp with a puddle in the middle. We made it work for a night since three travelers met up after each driving 4+ hours but it was very difficult to sleep on an incline. I will say the hosts are extremely kind and welcoming. Be advised this is basically their backyard. Porta potty was convenient and very very clean.

I call it a "Must Camp Here!"
Knotty Pines is confidently placed atop the pile of past tent sites I've ever visited and I highly recommend you check it out :) The space is as nice, if not nicer, than the photos imply. The spot feels perfectly secluded and serene, but the family and house are 1/8 of a mile away in case you need some things.
Cara and Garrett are perfect hosts, both giving you the space and peace you crave, while being incredibly responsive to messages and being there to help out (my car battery died at the site and they helped me in record time.)
The site is so well appointed: Big open space, lots of space for a few tents, excellent fire pit, solar shower w/a stall for privacy, cute swings that even the adults will love, and a sink for cooking up after meals.
Good luck trying to book it since I feel like I'm going to fill up their calendars :D

We had such a lovely time staying at this beautiful campsite. The fire pit was perfect and the picnic tables came in handy for dinner prep and the sink was great for cleanup. Host was communicative and kind , will definitely return!

It was my first time actually having a real camping experience and the site was absolutely perfect. It was private and had everything we could e er ask for. Cara was extremely nice and attentive. She answered fast and gave us everything we needed! The site was beautiful and everything I could have imagined :)

We had a great time at Knotty Pines! Cara and Garett were great hosts. The campsite is private but still close to the facilities. They did a great job clearing out this part of their property so larger campers can easily enter and exit. The whip-poor-wills in the evening and sunrise were an amazing surprise. Our dogs were free to roam and loved every second of it. We will definitely be back.

Great time at Knotty Pines
We had a lovely stay at Knotty Pines tent camping. The site was perfect for what we were looking for - very peaceful and quiet. Just an overall relaxing time! It was a large site with room for our campervan as well as a large tent. And plenty of space for the dogs to roam. Cara was a wonderful host and we had everything to make our stay comfortable! We’ll be back again to do some hiking nearby!

Great campsite! Felt so secluded and a beautiful view -- we cam off season for the eclipse and Cara & her husband were very helpful
The site is a bit slanted but we were comfortable and the view of the pond was worth it.

10/10 New York Camping experience!
I had a wonderful time at Knotty Pines! Cara and her husband were so welcoming and gave me a great tour of the property before leading me to my campsite. My campsite was very private and had everything I needed, including a swing, picnic bench, sink, and shower. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. I would highly recommend Knotty Pines to anyone looking for a great hipcamp experience! My only regret was not coming to the campsite earlier to be able to use the canoe!

Relaxing long weekend
Just back from a 3 night stay at knotty pines. Very quiet setting, do recommend a mosquito tent and spray, a portable toilet if your staying longer than 1 night and what would make this stay perfect, an outdoor hot and cold shower stall. Hosts are very generous with the quantity of wood in their bundles (ordered 2 when 1 was more than enough)

Cara has put a lot of care into these sites. She was easy to communicate with and easy to find. You are close to the family residence, but once you enter the trees it was very quiet and felt secluded. The site was large, level and easy for us to maneuver our van around. There would be platy of room for several tents. We had a very peaceful evening!

Communication with Cara was easy and directions were clear. The site was cute, although not flat, but it wasn't as bad as it seemed (we were only staying one night). The site by the pond had a sink and water container, convenient for washing dishes. Fire pit was ready to go and for 5$ extra you get a good amount of wood for the night. Cara came to check on us once she got home.
The site doesn't really have sun by the end of the day, but all the trees will also protect you in case of mild rain.

So private and peaceful
This was a beautiful campsite, very private and peaceful. The sink and swings are a very nice touch. Fire pit was great. Ample wood provided. Porta-potty was nice and clean. Cara and her husband are just lovely and their children are adorable. My only complaint is that the site by the pond, where we were, is on a hill and we couldn't find a spot that was truly flat. The bottom is near flat but we were sleeping in our van and the ground was soft so it sank some. I think in a tent it would be fine though. I definitely recommend despite this.
