As of April 2026, we experienced massive flooding at our campsite due to rain and snowmelt. We also sustained large tree loss on the property due to an ice storm. Due to this, the area beyond the main campsite is UNAVAILABLE until further notice. That includes the walking trail and swimming area. Main campsite area including fire pit and fishing hole are open. Swimming at the main site is available, but highly recommend water shoes or Crocs due to rocks.

This unique riverside retreat is located on the shores of the Plover River, on a dam remnant behind a former working mill. Campers will enjoy a park-like atmosphere with numerous benches, stone fire pits, and hidden trails among riverside, grassy, and forested areas. It's an ideal location to fish, kayak, or enjoy a 20-minute float from the dam to the Sharonwood bridge. This was our second time staying at Riverside Roost and I can’t write enough good things about it. The hosts are amazing, the communication is exceptional, and the little extras made us feel so welcome. Despite some rain, we fished, swam, kayaked, built a fire and more. It’s a great location with plenty of space for 8 of us and multiple tents/pop-ups. We’ll be back again next summer. Only advice is to bring good bug spray! The flies and mosquitos are plentiful.

The photos on Hipcamp do not convey the beauty and expansiveness of this location. There are so many tuckaways and places to explore and find peace in a fern-gemmed forest, and the river wraps around the property like a hug.
Michael, the host, was eager and helpful. He had tubes and kayaks available for the river, and I want to return for the tubing!

Do public campgrounds seem generic? Cookie cutter? Lack any sort of personality? Packed liked sardines? Michael has created an oasis of eclectic hospitality that exudes pure magic! You literally camp right on the Plover River, maybe, just maybe with another site farther down river and out of site. I had the place to myself the nights I stayed and fell asleep to the gentle sound of the river rolling over rocks by the historic mill. Firewood onsite, kayaks to use, bicycles, porta potties, disc golf baskets benches everywhere to ponder ones thoughts. Perfect for tent camping and car/van camping. Simply incredible! Thank you Michael, such an amazing human and host. I'll be back!

Michael is an absolutely wonderful host. He was more than happy to help with everything from the moment we got there. It was an excellent spot with easy access into the river. The solar lights were also perfect. There were multiple places to sit (picnic tables & benches) and the area was so clean. I have never given a Port-a-potty a 10/10 before, but I will here! Everything was so easy to set up and Michael made sure we were always comfortable. Make sure to ask him for pizza recommendations!

We had such a wonderful stay at Bentley Dam campground! The grounds were very clean, well maintained, and peaceful—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. The beautiful river was one of the highlights of our trip. We had a great time kayaking and river tubing, and the scenery along the water was absolutely lovely.
A special touch was having fresh farm eggs delivered right to our campsite. The host was also very responsive and replied promptly whenever we had questions, which made everything easy and stress-free. We would definitely recommend this campground to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable, and memorable getaway in Wisconsin!

Loved camping on Michael’s land. We had the whole place to ourselves for the weekend, which was great. We took advantage of the kayaks and took a day trip down the river, but otherwise just relaxed next to the fire pit and took in the views of the river and birds flying about. Michael made sure we were taken care of the first day but then left us alone the rest of the time, which we enjoyed being able to fully unplug and turn off our social batteries.

The site was absolutely gorgeous! The bread and jelly are delicious as well! Katie obviously has some experience being outdoors, and had a very accommodating experience for any type of camper. The toilet was very clean and well stocked! The dam and surrounding areas are absolutely gorgeous, and the pike are insanely aggressive to the rapallas I was using! I must’ve caught at least 15-20 from the shore on the first day!

We absolutely LOVED this place! Michael is our people, our tribe. We knew as soon as we pulled up and the way he greated us, we were home for the next 2 nights. There is so much to do and enjoy. Michael provided us with a portapotty, camp shower, and firewood for both nights. There are swings, hammocks, chairs, and fire pits all over the property to enjoy during your stay and we were lucky enough to have it all to ourselves. We played lawn darts, there is volleyball, you can kayak and tube right from the hipcamp. There is even an energy bell to release energy that we loved using. If your modern day hippies like our family and want to commute with nature or just want a peaceful beautiful unique place to camp, you need to come here. You will love it. We stayed right by the river and having the sound all night was wonderful. YOU NEED TO CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! We will be back soon to enjoy the kayaking and tubing and to see all the flowers that will be in bloom. Thank you Michael!!!

We had such a wonderful time at Riverside Roost! The campsite right along the river is stunning and the fresh eggs, bread, & jam were delicious. If you are a big critter fan this is the spot for you! Lots of frogs, fish, turtles, crawdads, bugs, etc. as well as the chickens that wander around! Paddling along the water is a treat and the dam, albeit a little noisy, brought a nice cool air to the site. The campsite itself is nestled into the property and I think it’s a great site, though if you want more options for walking trails/exploring I’d utilize the plenty of parks and public sites in the area as well. We can’t wait to come back!

we had an amazing time at Kelli’s campsite!! everything was so beautiful and well maintained. We got a wheelbarrow of wood which was perfect for us! We loved saying hi to the chickens. She was very kind and accommodating. Would love to come back soon!!
