Welcome ; Located in southeast Minnesota's Driftless region of hills, valleys, fields and forests, we are a grass based working dairy farm with over 100 acres of woodland, including an extensive trail system and campsites in our wooded acres. What makes this woodland special is it's quiet, secluded setting and over 6 miles of hiking / skiing trails. Our farmstead sits three quarter of a mile off the paved county highway on our well maintained gravel driveway. Each of our campsites are secluded from the others with their own sawdust compost toilets, picnic tables, fireplaces, and firewood. Two of our sites require 4WD with a minimum of 6 inches ground clearance to access, and two are accessible with 2WD. If you do not have 4WD we can help transport your gear while you enjoy the walk in. There are plenty of woodland birds, deer, turkeys, raccoons and squirrels sharing the woods with you. At night it is common for owls to visit the campsite area to say hello, and coyotes talking in the distance. The winding trails through 100 acres of woodland offer a variety of woodland habitats, from Old growth Maple to mixed hardwood, to dense brush, to the edges of open pastureland. Bring your fat bike or mountain bike for an enjoyable ride. For winter users there is a mix of easy, moderate, and challenging winter cross country skiing or snowshoeing / hiking on the property. However the Rock Bottom Cabin is our only heated and insulated site and is available for winter booking. Winter access is walk in only with snow on the ground or in the forecast. We can help transport gear. This property is part of a working pasture-based dairy farm and guided tours of the dairy and cattle are available when scheduling allows. Children 12 and younger are free at our campsites. No need to be counted as guests , but please let us know when requesting to book. We do not allow non-booked visitors to our campsites due to the secluded, remote location, and accessibility.

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION: The river edge erosion wall construction is complete. The area is being prepared to have additional river sites added sometime in 2026 depending on vegetation growth. The entire Beach (R3 & R4) will be closed to Campers starting October 1. This is due to hunting season starting. Campsites in the main campground will be still available, but guests are not allowed on the lower 40. Contact Cal or check our Facebook page and web site for more information. The campground and rental house will open about May 15, each year. The English Pale Campground is located along the Black River in Jackson County, 1 mile west of the Village of Melrose. The entire property only allows guests and occupants who are 21 or older. Sites/house can be booked 6 months in advance. The main campground is 70 feet above the river. We have 5 rustic (no hook-ups) RV/Travel Trailer/Tent sites, a fully furnished “Manor” House, a travel trailer as well as 2 rustic beach sites that are located along the river. The property is a total of 70 acres, which includes the 4+ acre beach, a mile of river front and trails through the woods that connect them all. The English Pale opened in 2021 and is a developing property. In late summer of 2025 an erosion wall was built along the Black River. This included clearing of a section of the forest, building a gravel access road and an riprap river wall to prevent further erosion. Since 2016 over 60 feet of the riverbank has washed away. Our property offers a reasonable expectation of privacy and we do not offer day passes as our target guests are campers. We are an adult only property, but not a nudist campground, as that is not our central theme. We do not prohibit our guests from nudity for the purpose of sunbathing on the beach, campsites or sundeck, but nudity is not allowed in general common areas. Part of our nature is allowing discreet nudity for tanning purposes. While we target couples for time together, singles and groups are welcome. The first time we viewed this property, we knew we were home. The woods, fields, wildlife, and house (created almost entirely from the lumber harvested from the land) drew us in. We purchased the home and 40 acres in 2018. Since then it has been a labor of love to make it everything we dream. A campground suitable for horseback riding was the goal for W15266. This was where the original homestead stood (firepit area). That home was transported across 95 on Davis road to become an Amish home. This area was overgrown and filled with rubbish, but still had a great deal of suitable plants hidden in the raspberries. We are continually working to groom it, and eventually, hope to better level the drive and sites and cover them with gravel. We need more and better fire pits and intend to have at least one more cabin- perhaps created from a refurbished corn crib? This cabin was refurbished in 2020 from the original homestead’s summer kitchen (where food was prepared to keep the house from getting too warm). Although it may have been easier to demolish and start over, Julie convinced Craig that the history was worth it. ;) I can’t tell you how disGUSTING it was, but we found treasures like the chair upstairs, the ironing board, and items on the walls and cupboards amongst the piles of Asian beetles and mouse chewings. Our current project you see in front is the bath/shower house. It has a toilet and shower and was completed 2021. With expansion, we will add one more toilet on the other side. The old shed in front, is a disaster. We fluctuate the same way we did with the summer kitchen: bulldoze or refurbish? It currently houses our equipment and lumber, but someday, we are hoping to have a small country Tiki bar. Craig has received the liquor license already. We love tucked away country bars with unique flavors, so we hope we can offer this to our customers. Jeske Equestrian is also a boarding/training facility. We built the horse barn in 2019, and last year we put up a 60x180 indoor riding arena. Maintaining and creating trails has been extensive. Keeping up on the signage and the trail map has been nearly impossible since Craig loves creating new ones with the skid steer on a regular basis! We are working on the pond area to be more recreational in our future as well. Thanks again for choosing us. We hope to see you again! IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION: The river edge erosion wall construction is complete. The area is being prepared to have additional river sites added sometime in 2026 depending on vegetation growth. The entire Beach (R3 & R4) will be closed to Campers starting October 1. This is due to hunting season starting. Campsites in the main campground will be still available, but guests are not allowed on the lower 40. Contact Cal or check our Facebook page and web site for more information. The campground and rental house will open about May 15, each year. The English Pale Campground is located along the Black River in Jackson County, 1 mile west of the Village of Melrose. The entire property only allows guests and occupants who are 21 or older. Sites/house can be booked 6 months in advance. The main campground is 70 feet above the river. We have 5 rustic (no hook-ups) RV/Travel Trailer/Tent sites, a fully furnished “Manor” House, a travel trailer as well as 2 rustic beach sites that are located along the river. The property is a total of 70 acres, which includes the 4+ acre beach, a mile of river front and trails through the woods that connect them all. The English Pale opened in 2021 and is a developing property. In late summer of 2025 an erosion wall was built along the Black River. This included clearing of a section of the forest, building a gravel access road and an riprap river wall to prevent further erosion. Since 2016 over 60 feet of the riverbank has washed away. Our property offers a reasonable expectation of privacy and we do not offer day passes as our target guests are campers. We are an adult only property, but not a nudist campground, as that is not our central theme. We do not prohibit our guests from nudity for the purpose of sunbathing on the beach, campsites or sundeck, but nudity is not allowed in general common areas. Part of our nature is allowing discreet nudity for tanning purposes. While we target couples for time together, singles and groups are welcome. Hike right from your tent onto 80 acres of prairie, woods and valley views. Lots of wildlife and wildflowers. Kayak the nearby Chippewa River. Shockingly few mosquitos for the upper Midwest due to the lack of standing water. The campsites are located on a working homestead, complete with old farm house and gardens. Site 1, Bee Balm is shaded by nearby trees and is closest to the shower and toilet. If you are camping with a trailer we recommend the Bee Balm site as there is more space and better access. The highlight of Site 2, Oak Grove, is a shady grove of young oaks that you can set your tent up under. Site 3, Meadowlark, is a tent site surrounded by prairie grass about 20' from where you park. This is a very private location. In its former life this property was a limestone quarry. Evidence of it's history remain with high rock walls on both ends of the property. Surrounding this area is another 15 acres of hills and trees. We have a scenic overlook open to all guests where you can relax and sit on a wooden swing while enjoying the beautiful view of the Mississippi River below. The first time we viewed this property, we knew we were home. The woods, fields, wildlife, and house (created almost entirely from the lumber harvested from the land) drew us in. We purchased the home and 40 acres in 2018. Since then it has been a labor of love to make it everything we dream. A campground suitable for horseback riding was the goal for W15266. This was where the original homestead stood (firepit area). That home was transported across 95 on Davis road to become an Amish home. This area was overgrown and filled with rubbish, but still had a great deal of suitable plants hidden in the raspberries. We are continually working to groom it, and eventually, hope to better level the drive and sites and cover them with gravel. We need more and better fire pits and intend to have at least one more cabin- perhaps created from a refurbished corn crib? This cabin was refurbished in 2020 from the original homestead’s summer kitchen (where food was prepared to keep the house from getting too warm). Although it may have been easier to demolish and start over, Julie convinced Craig that the history was worth it. ;) I can’t tell you how disGUSTING it was, but we found treasures like the chair upstairs, the ironing board, and items on the walls and cupboards amongst the piles of Asian beetles and mouse chewings. Our current project you see in front is the bath/shower house. It has a toilet and shower and was completed 2021. With expansion, we will add one more toilet on the other side. The old shed in front, is a disaster. We fluctuate the same way we did with the summer kitchen: bulldoze or refurbish? It currently houses our equipment and lumber, but someday, we are hoping to have a small country Tiki bar. Craig has received the liquor license already. We love tucked away country bars with unique flavors, so we hope we can offer this to our customers. Jeske Equestrian is also a boarding/training facility. We built the horse barn in 2019, and last year we put up a 60x180 indoor riding arena. Maintaining and creating trails has been extensive. Keeping up on the signage and the trail map has been nearly impossible since Craig loves creating new ones with the skid steer on a regular basis! We are working on the pond area to be more recreational in our future as well. Thanks again for choosing us. We hope to see you again! Creekside Sounds campsite was a perfect retreat for us! The campsite was tidy and located right next to the creek, but also surrounded by a large open grass field. The space felt secluded while also not feeling any sort of confinement. Plenty of area for our dog to play and explore without bothering any one... or cows! Jolene was a great host and provided us with everything we needed to have a wonderful time on the farm! Although it was tucked off the main road and back in its own little area, it was not as far from town or other amenities as it typically would be for that type of seclusion. Would highly recommend Jolene and her campsites to anyone.... we even hope to return!

We loved camping in Erica’s quarry! The views were beautiful and there was a state park 10 minutes away for even more beautiful views of the Mississippi River. Even with a couple other groups on the property, it was quiet and secluded in our little corner. The end of the drive was marked with a camping symbol and the instructions provided were clear. This is my 7th time camping at Creekside sounds, its one of my favorite places to camp. I usually camp in a travel trailer with my hubby but he was unable to make this trip, so I decided I would go solo and pitch a tent. I have camped for 35yrs but I had never gone by myself. Jolene's place is the perfect spot for solo females wanting to get out. Its safe, the host lives on the property and always introduces herself(and is a lovely person), neighbors are friendly, fellow campers are always nice, clean porta- potty and no bears. Sit back and enjoy the creek sounds and birds. Things to do, nothing just relax, hike at Great River Bluffs SP, explore the Mississippi River, drive the Apple Blossom scenic Byway, bike the Root River Trail.

It was as described in the listing. The porta potty was very clean when we arrived. There was plenty of space between the sites for privacy. One thing that I was hoping for that didn't happen was to sit on the bench swing at the top of the Bluff with the Beautiful view, because it was broken. Erica did inform me that it was not yet fixed when we arrived. Also I think some should be aware that there is a steep gravel road that heads to the Quarry site. We did have to use 4 wheel drive to get there. Other than that it was great. I would recommend.

As stated in every other review, the camping spot is very scenic, nature filled and beautiful. Gregory is great as a host as he let us have our privacy, but checked in as we were driving or walking by. Just a note to get to the site: when you pull in the driveway, turn left and drive in front of the house. Then right after the house take a right and that trail leads you back into the woods by the river. I think he has a map that works great. Lacrosse and Lake Crescent are not far from this site if you wanna make a trip into town. The site itself is very open no backing up as needed. Just pull in where you wanna be. Big enough for a couple of campers and tents.

Our ranch has been in our family for 15 years and, before that, belonged to one family for over 200 years. Jolene (me, - owner) and my two sons, Riley and Logan, put a lot of time and dedication into our ranch. Our ranch is located on 40 acres where anyone can find their little piece of “peace.” We pride ourselves on taking excellent care of our guests and making them feel at home when they step onto our land. We will do our best to accommodate your needs in any way possible. Our WIFI is not always 100% reliable. If you need WIFI during your stay, please bring another option with you, such as a hotspot on your cell phone, in case ours is not dependable. Welcome ; Located in southeast Minnesota's Driftless region of hills, valleys, fields and forests, we are a grass based working dairy farm with over 100 acres of woodland, including an extensive trail system and campsites in our wooded acres. What makes this woodland special is it's quiet, secluded setting and over 6 miles of hiking / skiing trails. Our farmstead sits three quarter of a mile off the paved county highway on our well maintained gravel driveway. Each of our campsites are secluded from the others with their own sawdust compost toilets, picnic tables, fireplaces, and firewood. Two of our sites require 4WD with a minimum of 6 inches ground clearance to access, and two are accessible with 2WD. If you do not have 4WD we can help transport your gear while you enjoy the walk in. There are plenty of woodland birds, deer, turkeys, raccoons and squirrels sharing the woods with you. At night it is common for owls to visit the campsite area to say hello, and coyotes talking in the distance. The winding trails through 100 acres of woodland offer a variety of woodland habitats, from Old growth Maple to mixed hardwood, to dense brush, to the edges of open pastureland. Bring your fat bike or mountain bike for an enjoyable ride. For winter users there is a mix of easy, moderate, and challenging winter cross country skiing or snowshoeing / hiking on the property. However the Rock Bottom Cabin is our only heated and insulated site and is available for winter booking. Winter access is walk in only with snow on the ground or in the forecast. We can help transport gear. This property is part of a working pasture-based dairy farm and guided tours of the dairy and cattle are available when scheduling allows. Children 12 and younger are free at our campsites. No need to be counted as guests , but please let us know when requesting to book. We do not allow non-booked visitors to our campsites due to the secluded, remote location, and accessibility.
