Located on 600 acres, we have developed the previously used agriculture land into a trail center in hopes of transforming the property from an underutilized farm into a facility that could support local outdoor recreation use and programming. Currently there are 14 miles of purpose built trails, with plans to install up to 30 miles of natural surface trails that will create access to and feature the natural beauty of the property, which includes open meadows, mature hardwood forests, rock outcroppings, an area of volcanic activity, seven freshwater springs, headwater streams (including Brook Trout habitat), and three distinct knobs. These features provide a rich and unique landscape for a trail system. With so much here, there is no need to leave the property. From Charleston , WV / (Mid October - high 75/ low 45) Spent my birthday weekend tent camping here and it was wonderful. Arrived almost before dark, but check in was helpful and easy to coordinate a spot. Thanks to Rusty (the beagle). We set up at Camp Spot 34. Parking next to the spot was nice, and the spot had all the things shown in the photos. Fire pit rock ring, bench, picnic table and plenty of spots for tent area. We only had one other neighboring tent adventurers that were at Camp Spot 31. These Camp site locations are very spread open and away from each other. The creek along side is very soothing and perfect fill the sounds of camping. “Babbling Brooke” we had a few cat visitors to our site while around the campfire. They were very sweet and had collars, so we assumed they belong to a local in the area. They were probably just checking on us if we need anything. The next morning we woke up to rain but the tree coverage helped with tent take down and clean up. Once we were packed up and ready to head out, we ventured down to the creek to explore and walk on the rocks. Was very beautiful site and will be visiting in the summer. 10/10

3 nights at Camp Holly

As a newbie to car camping, Camp Holly was exactly what I was looking for. Nestled in the mountains, my site #4 was perfect and had a nice little path down the bank to the creek. The pond is well maintained and there's a great hiking trail up the hill that my dog and I enjoyed. Firewood was readily available with carts to haul it the short walk back to campsite. The sites were clean and well cared for and if there was any drawback, it might be the noise of motorcycles and trucks from Rte 20 at time. (FYI bikers - WVA 15 from Flatwood to Diana and loop back north on 20 would be an amazing ride, but yeah, what part of WVa isn't?) The noise didn't bother me other than "made you look" reaction. I only mention it because it may be annoying to some. I got tired of my camp food so the last night I ordered out from the diner up the road - not to disappoint it was good old home cooked food and the owner was super friendly. Last but not least, the bath house was immaculate and was cleaned daily. I think you'll enjoy your stay at Camp Holly and highly recommend it.

Fern Grove was a nice place to tent camp. But be prepared for some mud. I know it’s not muddy all year but in August it definitely is. We have camped at quite a few places with Hipcamp and this one had the nicest bathroom of any of them! The on demand hot water was great and so was the real toilet! I like its proximity to the Seneca Rocks/ Spruce Knob area. The lake at the site was cool and the kids liked going out in the boats.

Tent camping under this forest is truly magic. We were on site 30 during July (not suppose to be cool) and we had to grab a blanket becuase the temperatures would dip that low in the mountains. Little humidity and just sitting at your camp, listening to the river roaring is one of the soothing sounds you will ever hear. Plus no cell service so no one to bother you. It is within driving distance to Blackwater Falls, Canaan, and Deep Creek. Will definitely be back!

Ed is great! When my daughter and I arrived, we were unable to make it to our site because the stream was very high. We ended up setting up camp in a field and stayed 3 nights. We loved it! We did make it across the stream to see the site and ponds, etc, and everything was beautiful. Highly recommended!

If you are looking for a secluded area, with a nice creek to listen to or have the kids to play in, but still want the luxuries of a toilet/shower, then this is it! Its absolutely beautiful! You can even hear the owls at night time "whoing" back and forth. The kids rode the "whitewater" on their butts from 9am until dinner time. Theres no service, so a great escape from reality to reset! We will definitly be back!

Just what we needed! The cabin was well stocked and tidy, and the owners were so friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean and updated. Our group booked a tent site and a cabin. The kids swam in the pond all day! We kayaked and used paddle boards. The stream behind us was so peaceful and we even hung out and kept cool in it. The sites are well shaded so we weren’t too hot. There is a local general store within walking distance that has just about anything you forgot! We are hoping to come back next year.
