There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. View stars as only those miles away from any light can experience. The crickets and whippoorwills will sing you to sleep. Bluestone Camp & Retreat is a Presbyterian Summer Camp Program with organized summer youth and family camp activities over 4 weeks in June and July, and a three-season Retreat Destination for a variety of church, non-profit, and family groups April through November. We are a ministry of the Presbytery of West Virginia (PCUSA) serving member congregations as well as many other church and non-profit organizations.
Bluestone has been in operation since 1953. Our Mission is to provide experiences that are character building in nature through Summer Camping Programs and other programmatic events for children, youth, and adults; and to provide opportunities for recreation, rest, and renewal through the use of our facilities as a Center of Christian Hospitality.
We have five camp sites that overlook the Bluestone Lake Reservoir. Each is a clearly defined 60' x 20' space along one side of a level grass field, and each is equipped with a 50/30/20 amp electric pedestal, water spigot, sewer drop, picnic table, and an above ground steel campfire pit. There is also a shower house available for Hipcampers to use.
We have two price points:
1. Our Regular Price per night is $35 based on double occupancy. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10.
2. Our price increases to $50 per night for the months of June and July which is our high season. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10.
Youth and Children ages 11 and younger are free, so keep that in mind when you select the number of guests in your party!

We offer primitive camping (tents) along Reed Creek in Wythe County, Virginia. Although we are a primitive campground, we do offer amenities to make your stay comfortable, including portable toilets and trash collection. We do NOT provide potable water or electricity at our sites. We have five regular waterfront sites, one waterfront drive-in truck tent site, and two day use sites. All sites have a firepit and table. We do have additional overflow sites on the property, so if you see that we are sold out, just contact us!

This area has a very different climate than many other parts of Virginia. We are located in a Köppen Climate Classification Zone Cfb, which is a Temperate Oceanic Climate (or sometimes called Marine West Coast Climate). Yes, the Southwest Mountains of VA have a maritime climate! Think Coastal Alaska, Pacific Northwest, or British Columbia to get an idea of our climate. All of which means our summers are cooler (average of 83 in August) with low humidity, and our winters are milder. So this is a great place to escape the hot humid Virginia summers!
We experience four true seasons, and the colors in the fall season are some of prettiest on the East Coast and perfect for leaf peeping!
We have deer, wild turkey, bear, chipmunks, raccoons, wild rabbits, Whip-poor-wills, and opossums on the property. Plus, the fireflies at night can be beautiful!
Plus, we've yet to see a mosquito!
You will be the only camper on the property, my RV is on site and is used as guest quarters when I have company, but this is rare.
There is no cell phone coverage and limited strength wifi, so unplug and relax!
The Camping Site is part of our mountainside property located in Long Hollow and sits on the edge of 7 acres of pasture, which leads to 7 acres of White Pine Forest you are welcome to use for walking, wildlife viewing, dog walking, etc.. It is conveniently located less than 2/10s a mile from Rt. 16, and 5 miles from I-81.
Our neighbors are quiet but you may hear their donkey braying or chickens clucking. We ask that you do not disturb the neighbors or interact in any way with their animals. There is a Firepit and Picnic Table for your use.
I try to keep a supply of firewood on hand which you are welcome to use, but if I run out you may have to get some wood elsewhere. You can scavenge fallen wood to burn.....

Each site has full hook ups. No tents are allowed due to lack of toilet facilities.

What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna.
I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose.
Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain.
Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking.
The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure!
I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Also often there is an opportunity to work on the farm harvesting and processing food. Let me know if that is something you would like to do.

Bluestone Camp & Retreat is a Presbyterian Summer Camp Program with organized summer youth and family camp activities over 4 weeks in June and July, and a three-season Retreat Destination for a variety of church, non-profit, and family groups April through November. Bluestone has been in operation since 1953. We have five camp sites that overlook the Bluestone Lake Reservoir. Each is a clearly defined 60' x 20' space along one side of a level grass field, and each is equipped with a 50/30/20 amp electric pedestal, water spigot, sewer drop, picnic table, and an above ground steel campfire pit. There is also a shower house available for Hipcampers to use.
We have two price points:
1. Our Regular Price per night is $35 based on double occupancy. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10.
2. Our price increases to $50 per night for the months of June and July which is our high season. Each additional person (ages 12 and older, max = 6 people per site) is $10.

Although we are a primitive campground, we do offer amenities to make your stay comfortable, including portable toilets and trash collection. This area has a very different climate than many other parts of Virginia. We are located in a Köppen Climate Classification Zone Cfb, which is a Temperate Oceanic Climate (or sometimes called Marine West Coast Climate). Yes, the Southwest Mountains of VA have a maritime climate! Think Coastal Alaska, Pacific Northwest, or British Columbia to get an idea of our climate. All of which means our summers are cooler (average of 83 in August) with low humidity, and our winters are milder. So this is a great place to escape the hot humid Virginia summers!
We experience four true seasons, and the colors in the fall season are some of prettiest on the East Coast and perfect for leaf peeping!
We have deer, wild turkey, bear, chipmunks, raccoons, wild rabbits, Whip-poor-wills, and opossums on the property. Plus, the fireflies at night can be beautiful!
Plus, we've yet to see a mosquito!
You will be the only camper on the property, my RV is on site and is used as guest quarters when I have company, but this is rare.
There is no cell phone coverage and limited strength wifi, so unplug and relax!
The Camping Site is part of our mountainside property located in Long Hollow and sits on the edge of 7 acres of pasture, which leads to 7 acres of White Pine Forest you are welcome to use for walking, wildlife viewing, dog walking, etc.. It is conveniently located less than 2/10s a mile from Rt. 16, and 5 miles from I-81.
Our neighbors are quiet but you may hear their donkey braying or chickens clucking. We ask that you do not disturb the neighbors or interact in any way with their animals. There is a Firepit and Picnic Table for your use.
I try to keep a supply of firewood on hand which you are welcome to use, but if I run out you may have to get some wood elsewhere. You can scavenge fallen wood to burn.....

What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna.
I acquired stewardship of this land 35 years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose.
Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain.
Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking.
The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure!
I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Also often there is an opportunity to work on the farm harvesting and processing food. Let me know if that is something you would like to do.

The Firefly is nestled between trees, on a loud, rushing creek, on a five acre property that is mostly cleared and on a hard surface dead end rd, a few miles from Hillsville, Va. The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. Firefly has a camp style charcoal grill, a firepit with lots of firewood, a wood pellet stove on the covered deck for grilling when its rainy outside, a wood pellet fireplace for heat, outside shower with hot water, a comfy queen size memory foam bed, fresh linens and towels, and an outside bathtub situated by the creek. it has running water and a composting toilet and there is an unattached bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower as well. The FireFly is pet friendly and please leave $25 on the counter for the pet fee. The Firefly is 6 miles from I-77 and The Blue Ridge Parkway. I keep all paper products, dishes, cookware and pellets for the pellets cooker and for the heater. Plenty of blankets and there is a pellet heater and a propane wall heater there with plenty of propane.

This is a secluded off grid location without power, wifi, or cell service, so be prepared to UNPLUG and unwind.
Firewood for your first campfire is provided along with one tank of propane to run the indoor camp stove. Five gallons of drinking water are included with coffee and a French press. There is a cooler provided. Remember to bring ice for your groceries and sleeping bags!

One loft bedroom, huge bathroom with a walk in shower and a soaking bathtub, while looking at a gorgeous creek, 20 ft away. A hot tub sits on the rear ground level deck. Kitchen with two coffee makers, microwave, full size refridge stovetop, air fryer, toaster oven and a kettle. This yurt is great for a couple or a couple with a small child, I provide a blowup mattress, twin size with linens.. The yurt faces the creek, and a rock wall on the other side making this property very private except for our cabin on the same property. It is fenced with split rail fencing and has a solar powered gate, with a gate fob provided. We are dog friendly, with a $25 pet fee per stay. This is a safe, beautiful area to visit nearby Floyd, a nearby kayak rental shuttle service, breweries, a meadery 2 miles away, and many other unique finds. Beautiful Mountain View’s and backwoods drive. A unique wool farm is just down the dirt road with a cash only roadside stand.

Fantastic campsite. Creek access was awesome. Huge site. Plenty of space for my groups two SUVs and a large tent with plenty of space to throw a frisbee as well. Couldn’t recommend highly enough. Especially if your trip include Grayson Highlands as you are so close to the park.

This site was beautiful, peaceful and pretty private! 2 camp fire spots ( 1 in the upper level area and one by the creek) we enjoyed the campfire by the creek and our dog enjoyed the upper area for some fetch. It was also a great spot to sit and watch the stars at night! It was only about a 15 minute drive the Grayson Highlands State Park for some fun hiking. Will be coming back to lay in the creek for the summer!

Brian was a great host. Booked 2 nights at the Field of Dreams and Brian reached out to ensure I had plenty of warmth as the forecast called for extremely low temperatures. Directions to the site were spot on and easy to follow, my trip got delayed so I arrived after dark and I was still able to get to the correct location without any issues.
Enjoyed my time here, I hope to come back another time with my family.

Mark is a great host and communicator. He gave us clear directions on what roads are best for pulling a trailer. Our rv site was awesome as we were the only people staying here at the time. The sky was clear for amazing star gazing and this location is about an hour from New River Gorge National Park. T-Mobile home internet was “weak”, about 25 Mbps - but enough to stream a tv show. Verizon cell was about 2 bars and T-Mobile cell was 1 bar. One thing to consider when staying here is the road in is very steep - about 14-16% grade, so if you have more trailer than truck, you may burn up your transmission/brakes. We would definitely stay here again!

I wish we could’ve stayed longer! We were running behind schedule and arrived after dark, then had to leave before sunrise, so we didn’t get to take in the views. But the signs and string lights guiding us into the campground were such a welcoming sight after a long day on the road and pulling in so late. We’ll definitely be back to enjoy the campground properly!

rivers edge trail was beautiful! the site was clean, easy to find and the views were gorgeous. hookups were straight forward and full service, which we appreciated. there is a bit of junk around and there’s a house very close, so not private, but it looks like they’re still building the sites so we didn’t mind. we will definitely stay again!

The camp site was in a clearing along woodline in a secluded location. Very accommodating and scenic. I noticed each campsite was similarly situated affording privacy and good separation from the others. It was also extremely clean. The leaves had been blown clear of the path to the outhouse, which was well stocked with tp. The view of the nightsky was as advertised. I highly recommend this campsite for it's ease of access, beautiful location, and seclusion.

We stayed here for 3 weeks starting in mid October and absolutely loved it! The property is beautiful especially in the fall. The trails through his property were great for hikes. Tracy is a phenomenal host and very friendly. He greeted us and helped us get set up very easily and quickly. We felt like we had a lot of privacy even with his house nearby and neighbors across the street. The property is beautiful especially in the fall and we loved hiking his trails. It was an awesome location with downtown Marion very close, Grayson Highlands State Park (wild ponies!), as well as Mt. Rogers and White Top Mtn (2 highest peaks in VA), Abingdon (cute town), and plenty of waterfall hikes nearby - we checked out Big Tumbling Creek Falls and Comer Creek Falls. Such a gorgeous area!! AND THE STARS! Also I worked remotely and starlink connection was excellent for daily zoom calls. Tracy can provide wifi if you need to use his but we didnt. Can't beat the price with full hookups. I can't recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back when we're in the area! Many thanks to Tracy!
