Pleasant Places campground is clean, quiet, spacious, and private with lots of nooks for R& as well as ample space for play and activities. It is an ideal location for large groups and in order to keep camp as a single site, largeer groups are given preference. Centrally located and with 10 acres of field, forest, and farm, there is something of interest for everyone. In camp you will find a rustic kitchen, two 6' picnic tables, and a fire pit with accessories. There is a resource area near the house with an electrical outlet and a Flexzilla water hose, so bring containers. We have really nice firewood bundles as well as fresh eggs for sale and lawn games, hammocks, etc., available for rent. While the campsite, play field, and driveway loops are mowed, most of the grounds are wild, so bring your tromping shoes. Birdsong comes early here, and the night is filled with the sounds of crickets. No city lights, so the stargazing is wonderful. The goats are gentle, curious, and deep body scratch lovers. The chickens and ducks are not hands-on but some, especially the ducks, will eat out of your hands. The local fauna include deer, skunk, coyote, rabbit, weasel, and possum--bear and cat are not common, but please do be conscientious about leaving food out and keep the lid on the compost. While there isn't water on the property, Mayfield, Ike Kinswa, and Riffe lakes are all 20-30 minutes from here and provide lots of boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. Carlisle Lake offers walking trails, outdoor exercise equipment, fishing, summer concerts, and a playground, and is just a five-minute drive from camp. We are midway between Portland and Seattle and just 15 minutes off of I-5 making Pleasant Places a perfect meet-in-the-middle location. Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, the East Side, and the Pacific Coast are all day trips, just an hour or two from here. We are Judy and Summer and Chula, mother and daughter and dog, and we are pleased you are considering a stay with us. Learn more about this land: It sits upon a meadow with surrounding trees and a cow pasture in the distance. Spring time offers a small pond (please see below), but the Lewis river is close by with tons of recreational activities (swimming, fishing, hiking, wineries, etc.). There are only two sites, far from each other. It is a rural property with some farms AND residential homes/Airbnbs along the river, so, be aware there are cars that drive through the one lane road. Town is not far (six miles) to get supplies and the Heisson convenience store is less than a mile away. Privacy is better here than at a public campground and it's perfect for a quick trip out of town for a day or two or just a quick and safe stop in your travels. This is a beautiful property and I enjoy sharing it, please be mindful of the rules. *This winter was tough, lots of wind, so some trees fell, but they are all cleaned up and lots of small trees were planted. Can't wait until they grow to help for more privacy!!! Please, read each site description carefully! There is NO electricity or plumbing at the sites. I did install a BPA safe hose for water at the top of the hill for your use (I usually have it on but if not please feel free to message me and if I haven't responded within a half hour please feel free to knock on my door). Site 1 does have a camp toilet (composting bucket with seat and lid) because it is mostly a tent site (some small RVs and trailers can fit). Site 2 is for RVs (and tents with them) that already have a toilet so if you are a tent camper and want to book this site you will need to bring your own camp toilet. Dogs are most welcome, and may be off leash for a run in the field, however, they MUST have high recall. Please be mindful of my own dogs and chickens down below so please do not let them go beyond your site or the field when using. *We plan on making the pond to be a swim pond that will hold water all year long (the creek that runs into it is seasonal so it dries out depending on how much rain we get in any given year). Currently, it is dry.

Weekend Trip to Green Mountain Lookout

We absolutely love this spot! Very private and great views. It poured rain and was very windy this weekend, but we hunkered down, watched movies and read- it was just what we needed! The only downside was getting into the spot. The directions are not clear that you need to back down into the spot- so when you get to the “driveway” you need to back down and it is a little steep. Unfortunately, even though I had read other reviews, we didn’t realize this point & ended up needing to back up onto the main road in 4wd (and luckily we have an F-350- our previous truck would not have been able to handle this even with 4wd). Make sure you assess before you head to the spot.

Brad’s hip camp is absolutely stunning! I had such a peaceful night solo camping and I highly recommend this place. I would definitely come back for sure. Also, this is a GREAT place for birding! I saw a hermit thrush (new lifer) among many others.

It was absolutely beautiful...an oasis of forest among the surrounding farmlands. We enjoyed to site, it was near the pond. sauna and outhouse, so everything was nearby. Nobody was at site 3, (which is pretty close by) so we had total privacy. We had a lovely time and would go there again!

The View is beautiful. Compared to a campground it is hands down the better option! The site is at the top of the owners driveway so there is some coming and going but overall was very quiet. You can't beat the views and I bet in the summer with the lake so close it is phenomenal. We would stay again for sure.

Weekend Trip to The Lookout at Mayfield Lake

This was the second time we stayed at The Lookout - and it was even better this time. The Spud airstream was fully loaded with everything we needed, including amazing snacks for our day hike. The dome offered amazing views of the lake and was a magical place to see the sun rise and sunset. This is our favorite place to stay when we plan to visit Rainier. Highly recommend!

This was an absolutely wonderful place to camp with dogs. We had six dogs among three people and had such a wonderful time on this property! The dogs were safe and entertained and had plenty of space to run and explore and play. We were able to go and enjoy the visiting goats and the ducks and the chickens. Sarah and her partner were super wonderful and welcoming, and we had a great time renting some of the games they had available.

3 nights at Pleasant Places

We had the best time at Summers Pleasant places! Three of us and six dogs, the mostly fenced in property and being away from the road created such a relaxing and stress-free few days. This was such a convenient location, close to convenience stores but having the whole back area of the property felt very private. We didn’t mind the farm animal noises or the other regular rural sounds. It didn’t bother us at all. Visiting with the chickens, and goats was definitely a highlight as well. The kitchen sink and counter space was incredibly helpful and well designed! It was so nice to not have to bring all of that extra gear. We loved being about to have a fire to cook over and cozy up to at night. Summer was very communicative and hospitable, answering all of our questions and accommodating us at her place on such short notice. We loved our weekend stay on Laura's property! The lake views were exceptional, and our hosts made a point of giving us a very kind welcome. They were very conscientious about giving us and our dogs space, resulting in a very quiet and calm stay. Lots of beauty to enjoy in Mossyrock!

1 night at Cedar Root at Highland Butte

Brad was an excellent host. He came out at night to guide me to the right camp spot, and spent time in the morning giving me ideas for further travel. The sauna looks cool, but unfortunately there’s a burn ban in the area so it couldn’t be used.

Weekend Trip to Green Mountain Lookout

Perfect! We had the most perfect weekend at Laura’s. We have a 30 ft trailer that we are fairly new with, so if you are a newbie, practice patience while backing into the site. We learned and swore a lot, but it was SO worth it. Sincerely, I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Thank you, Laura!

Weekend Trip to The Lookout at Mayfield Lake

This was my second time camping at The Lookout and it was just as magical as the first time. Christie and Thane have really created a wonderful space that balances the outdoors and all the comforts of home. From the views to the outdoor shower, everything was great! The extra appliances in the airstream allowed for us to cook outside by the power pole and we really appreciated the 2nd fridge to keep everything cold so we didn't have to buy a ton of ice. We painted rocks as a family at the picnic table and enjoyed s'mores by the fire all while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake below. The everything down to the porta potty was so clean! And the touch of the panda drum, my entire family enjoyed playing it, it was the highlight of our trip!

Weekend Trip to The Lookout at Mayfield Lake

I absolutely adored The Lookout! Everything was so wonderfully curated and it was the perfect place to get away from the city for a weekend. I can tell Christie and Thane put in a lot of effort to make this place as cozy and welcoming as possible. The view of the lake is breathtaking! Mossyrock is a cute little town (check out Nacho’s Mexican Restaurant), and there’s lots of good spots for fishing around! I’d 100/10 stay here again.

35 ft fifth wheel

4 nights at Green Mountain Lookout

Site was great once we were in it. With us being a 35ft fifth wheel the angle getting in and out of the spot was a bit steep so definitely needed a spotter to make sure the truck bed did not hit the 5th wheel bed. It was worth it once we were in the spot. So private and peaceful. Lovely view of Riffe Lake. I love the state parks but having all this space to ourselves is unbeatable!

Weekend Trip to Salmon Berry Meadows

We enjoyed this sweet, quiet, treed little spot. There was a bit of daytime street noise but nothing continuous or extremely loud. The nights were very peaceful. Linda is very friendly. There was a trash can, recycle bin, and bucket of water at the sight. We have a 21ft travel trailer. Backing skills a must, and a spotter recommended as the path back to sight is narrow and has a bit of a curve to it. Perfect spot to overnight after enjoying the nearby lakes, swimming hole, and State Park.

Weekend Trip to River Mountain Meadow

This place was beautiful, but what really made it amazing were the owners. They are kind and hospitable. Anna brought us a basket of fruit from her garden when she met us. Our elder dog unfortunately passed on our trip and we had to skip a day to bring her home. Anna brought flowers and helped to lend some comfort to my children, and then offered to refund our trip. When I refused and assured her it wasn't necessary she still refunded a day. She and her husband are thoughtful and kind, and I couldn't recommend this hipcamp enough, if only to meet some truly wonderful people.
