My partner and I were lucky enough to purchase it in Oct 2020 and our goal is to bring it to its original beauty and charm with the most up to date amenities. Long Beach Peninsula has been a family vacation destination for a long time and there's so much fun to be had on every inch of land! Located centrally between Leadbetter Point and Cape Disappointment, we have 16 full hookup RV sites (30 amp power/water/septic/Wifi) close enough to enjoy the fun of Long Beach and Ocean Park, but far enough to retreat to your camp for quiet and relaxation. Batwater Station is located halfway between Portland and the Oregon Coast on the Columbia River. A private refuge where river otter, beaver, mink, muskrat, seals, raccoons along with threatened Columbia river white tailed deer can be seen. Property has 1,000 feet of boat docks, river deck, and pier. At the pier is a full kitchen, heated bathroom and shower room. Included are 2 outhouses, a fire pit for summer months, a viewing station overlooking the wetlands along with brick charcoal fired barbecue and another propane barbecue. We are committed to your privacy so guests are limited and spread out. High speed internet through out the property. Batwater worked with several agencies when we breeched a levee and flooded 26 acres for salmon and wildlife habitat. Hike along the wetlands and see beaver dams and dens. Batwater is also home for many types of birds including eagles, osprey, tree swallow, purple martins, barn swallows, wood ducks, common and hooded mergansers, mallards, scoots, scaups, grebes, cormorants, great egrets, blue herons, geese and many types of song birds . In the spring and summer see our returning osprey who have. nested on our dock since 2013. There are now 2 osprey platform since a pair of Canada geese choose that as their nesting site as well. Some bald eagles winter here but we have our resident bald eagles Hep and Hope. They arrived in 2003 to start their nest on Crims Island. They still nest there although there old nest tree collapsed in 2020. Many birds migrate here for the winter. Common mammals are river otter, mink, muskrat, raccoons, nutria, coyotes, black tailed and threatened Colombia White Tailed deer. We also are home to native turtles and frogs. Batwater is a working farm with cattle feeding on lush pastures, 2 retired horses and chickens. When eggs are available, we will share some with you. Batwater is a great place to kayak, canoe, paddle board or row during the summer months. We have windy afternoons for windsurfers or sailors. The Columbia River is well known for salmon, and sturgeon. For an extra fee you can moor your larger boat while visiting. There are a volley ball and badminton set ups along with horse shoes during the summer months. We suggest swimming during the summer months when the tide is coming in or slack. You can also walk or drive down to Mayger beach which is popular with locals. There are sandy beaches on Crims island that you can paddle over too. Check out the pictures for more information.

This campsite is rather large and is perfect for an RV. There is gravel under the grass. Lots of sun but no shade. This site can also get quite windy in the afternoon. This site is on the river and has 110 electricity and water. You have to back in or out.

We had a lovely stay on Karin's property! The RV spot sat right on the river with plenty of privacy, but still close to the bathroom/shower and kitchen area. Everyone was very friendly and happy to suggest things to do and see and the property had everything we needed! We loved swimming off of the dock, paddleboarding and watching the wildlife around the property. Very relaxing spot and would definitely come back to stay again.

Definitely a must camp here! End of September so everyone just had been there for fishing season. Pretty much had the place to ourself. Everyone here is so welcoming and kind, we had full hook ups a few steps away from river and lots of land to have peaceful hikes. There a little house with just a full kitchen, washer and dryer and bathrooms even with a shower. A quick 35min drive from Astoria which we spent one of our days at. The lady assisting the owner was so kind to give my kids a golf cart tour of the dry camping area and were the walking trails are at. They loved it!!! Everything very well managed and cared for here. I do like to be able to drop trash instead of haul it back but not a deal breaker we will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Cedar to Surf Campground

Cedar and Surf has been marvelous to our family twice this summer and I highly recommend them to anyone with littles or just a desire to enjoy camping or rv-ing with access to the cleanest campsite bathroom I’ve ever experienced and consistent warm water. A small laundry room made the beach (which was within walking distance) so much less stressful with my chaotic little one who went through half their clothes in one day. The rec room with fridge and freezer and sink for dish washing is a lovely touch as well that made keeping our gear tidy much less of a chore. Thank you Sylvana and Al for making our Labor Day a wonderful and comfortable family adventure!

We camped in our 30 ft coleman. We had a blast with the quick dune walk to the beach with out kids. The only thing I'd say is our spot was tight and didn't allow for our truck to fit there well. All the amenities were amazing clean and very apparently looked after well! My kiddos wishes they had their bikes if we stayed longer! definitely will next time!

What a beautiful spot up the Nemah River. Marlisa's family has lived here since the 1880s. The riverside sites are well maintained and easily accessed by trailer or RV..Peaceful and quiet- we recommend Williams Park highly.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful campsite! The scenery is stunning, peaceful, and perfect for relaxing or exploring the outdoors. The camp hosts were so kind and welcoming they really made us feel at home. One of the best parts is that dogs are welcome and can even be off leash if well behaved, which was a huge plus for us! Even though we stayed in our RV, we really appreciated the extra amenities like the cooking area with a stove, showers, and even a washer and dryer which came in super handy. Everything was clean and well maintained. We’re already talking about coming back and are even considering hosting a family reunion here. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a scenic, pet friendly, and well equipped camping spot!

Marlisa’s land is a perfect getaway with lots of river access, miles or well kept trails with plenty of space to play with your dogs. The host was super nice and helpful. The community bathrooms and kitchen were very well kept. Marlisa’s property is a multigenerational campgrounds started by her dad, ran buy her now and we even met her son out on the trails doing maintenance. One of the best camping experiences I’ve had.

The campsite for RV’s was small but secluded and I really loved that, private road for the most part and it was so clean and a lot of amenities that we really enjoyed especially the cleanliness of the showers and restrooms. They provided soap and extras free of charge which you don’t see often. Their is a trail you can walk which is super pretty and nice to use just to site see or walk the dogs to the big open field. Overall loved our stay and we will be back!

Where to go

Westport Light State Park

Further north on the Washington Coast, this surfer's paradise promises great waves in the winter and spring, though plenty of people come just to stroll and take in ocean views from one or both of the park's two beaches. It's also the site of the Grays Harbor Lighthouse, which stands 107 feet tall, making it the tallest lighthouse in Washington state.

Fort Stevens State Park

On the northwestern tip of Oregon, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Columbia River, this 4,300-acre park is full of things to do, from hiking and cycling on its 15 miles of trails to checking out military-related ephemera in the on-site military museum. One of its most unusual features is the remains of the Peter Iredale shipwreck, which are plopped down right on an ocean beach.

Lewis and Clark National Wildlife Refuge

Just across the Columbia River, which marks the border between Washington and Oregon, this wildlife refuge protects an extensive swathe of marshlands, riparian forests, and sandbars. It provides a rich ecosystem for non-migrant and migratory birds alike, along with wild salmon and even sea lions. Wildlife watching is a big draw here, along with boating and fishing, but camping is prohibited for the sake of protecting the natural environment.

When to go

The most pleasant months to visit Long Beach are from July through September, when the weather is generally at its warmest and driest. That said, it's wise to be prepared for cool temperatures and rainfall no matter when you visit. Most of the city's major events take place in the summer months. These include Sandsations, a showcase of sand sculpture that's held in July, and the Washington State International Kite Festival, which takes place every August.
