We offer a small shared space with a wood fire stove and some essential items, many games (such as horseshoes), and lots of picnic areas and tables sprinkled throughout the property. The location is central and half an hour to just minutes away from water bodies Hagg Lake, Nestucca River, Yamhill River, little Niagara Falls, Mill Creek, Baker Creek, Rainbow Lake and more… Such as the Carlton public pool. If your looking to jaunt from camp a little further, we are located a little over an hour and a beautiful drive to the Pacific Coast and about an hour from Portland. Although in the middle of the country woods, we are surprisingly only two and a half miles from the adorable and quaint town of Carlton. So beside the views, you’ll be alongside some fantastic eateries and outstanding winemakers. Being raised in the community, and over ten years of experience in the local food and wine industry, I can give recommendations aplenty. ꕥ The property has been in our family since the late 60’s and has recently been transferred in ownership to the next generation! It’s been a large adjustment with many precious memories in tow. In hopes to carry on the legacy we opened up camp mid-summer 2021, and it’s a work in progress (as work normally is!), but has been a beautiful experience being in a position to share. There are two family homes on the property with people who truly admire this land! Pleasant Places campground is clean, quiet, spacious, and private with lots of nooks for R& as well as ample space for play and activities. It is an ideal location for large groups and in order to keep camp as a single site, largeer groups are given preference. Centrally located and with 10 acres of field, forest, and farm, there is something of interest for everyone. In camp you will find a rustic kitchen, two 6' picnic tables, and a fire pit with accessories. There is a resource area near the house with an electrical outlet and a Flexzilla water hose, so bring containers. We have really nice firewood bundles as well as fresh eggs for sale and lawn games, hammocks, etc., available for rent. While the campsite, play field, and driveway loops are mowed, most of the grounds are wild, so bring your tromping shoes. Birdsong comes early here, and the night is filled with the sounds of crickets. No city lights, so the stargazing is wonderful. The goats are gentle, curious, and deep body scratch lovers. The chickens and ducks are not hands-on but some, especially the ducks, will eat out of your hands. The local fauna include deer, skunk, coyote, rabbit, weasel, and possum--bear and cat are not common, but please do be conscientious about leaving food out and keep the lid on the compost. While there isn't water on the property, Mayfield, Ike Kinswa, and Riffe lakes are all 20-30 minutes from here and provide lots of boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. Carlisle Lake offers walking trails, outdoor exercise equipment, fishing, summer concerts, and a playground, and is just a five-minute drive from camp. We are midway between Portland and Seattle and just 15 minutes off of I-5 making Pleasant Places a perfect meet-in-the-middle location. Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, the East Side, and the Pacific Coast are all day trips, just an hour or two from here. We are Judy and Summer and Chula, mother and daughter and dog, and we are pleased you are considering a stay with us. Relatives' Land is an opportunity for Delphine, who currently owns the property and all of us visiting, to enjoy the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and learn about the amazing bio-diversity of the area. On the land you will find some flat, prairie land that are used for gardening and chicken raising. There is also an old orchard with 15 plus apple and pear trees. Campers are welcome to harvest apples and pears in the fall when they are in season! Half of the land, 2.5 acres is a forest of pine and alder trees which hosts incredible wild life: a family of fox, Northwest bats, Northern Pygmy owls, Spotted owls, Northern flickers, Pileated woodpeckers, red ants, deer, elk, rabbits, snakes, mice and million more insects and birds. The land also has an incredible variety of mushrooms, mostly non-edible though, and ferns and mosses.

The sites are all very unique. We loved out stay. Lots of salmon making a run up river right now. It was very cool to watch the salmon and also a big group of kayakers going by. Sites were clean. Wish we would have added the sauna add on. They looked really neat.

What an amazing find. Dave was so accommodating in the space is great, especially if you have dogs. It’s basically his very big backyard completely fenced in. Convenient to Portland, convenient to mount Hood. Made some new friends with a couple who was camping there when we got there. Dave even filled my water tanks before I left.

We absolutely loved our time at Celestine Fields. We showed up late after dark and the property owners sweet dog literally guided us to the campsites. We had a stunning view along with a magical sunrise, and our dog loved exploring the area. We met the property owner for a brief time, and she was very kind and welcoming. We also had a neighbor who was camping there for a longer stay and he was the sweetest guy. Overall recommend this Hipcamp and also recommend arriving while there’s still light out as it was hard to find the best spot for us in the dark! We explored the cute town of Carlton a bit and went wine tasting at Résonance up the road. Recommend doing the same!

This was an absolutely wonderful place to camp with dogs. We had six dogs among three people and had such a wonderful time on this property! The dogs were safe and entertained and had plenty of space to run and explore and play. We were able to go and enjoy the visiting goats and the ducks and the chickens. Sarah and her partner were super wonderful and welcoming, and we had a great time renting some of the games they had available.

We had the best time at Summers Pleasant places! Three of us and six dogs, the mostly fenced in property and being away from the road created such a relaxing and stress-free few days. This was such a convenient location, close to convenience stores but having the whole back area of the property felt very private. We didn’t mind the farm animal noises or the other regular rural sounds. It didn’t bother us at all. Visiting with the chickens, and goats was definitely a highlight as well. The kitchen sink and counter space was incredibly helpful and well designed! It was so nice to not have to bring all of that extra gear. We loved being about to have a fire to cook over and cozy up to at night. Summer was very communicative and hospitable, answering all of our questions and accommodating us at her place on such short notice. We can’t wait to come back so the dogs can run free in the field again!
