Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way to the Salish Sea. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

Surrounded by blueberry fields, we purchased this property to enjoy camping with our three kids, extended family, and friends away from crowded campgrounds . Offering the use of it to others through Hipcamp is a fun way to share with others when not in use by us. We hope others will find the same joy we do. Property access is directly off the road with any vehicle. We have had large motor homes on the property without any trouble. Traffic is minimal with mostly other people off to enjoy their recreational land. The nearest neighbors are about 500' away across the blueberry fields. You may occasionally hear our neighbors enjoying their property as well but the noises sound distant and haven't been a problem for us. Because we allow dispersed camping there may be other people on the property with you. Please select our group camping option If you are interested in having the entire property for yourselves or for an event such as a family reunion or large friend group camping trip. The property is about one mile from the cascade bicycle trail which will take you to Sedro-Woolley in eleven miles or East to Birdsview Brewery in seven miles. If you explore even further East you'll find Act One Ice Cream Parlor adjacent to The Concrete Theater in Concrete. Check their website for hours and showings. A new local spot, Lyman Tavern, might also be a fun place to grab a bite to eat. Kids are allowed during certain hours. Cozy up next to a campfire at our fire pit constructed last season. It is located in the center of the property. Posts with solar lights are also around the fire pit. The lights are operated by remote so lights can be turned off to star gaze. You are welcome to burn any wood already down. Outdoor opportunities (hiking, biking, rafting) are in abundance from about any direction. To the East you'll find the North Cascade National Park, Baker Lake within the Mt. Baker National Forest, and Ross Lake National Recreation Area. Bicyclists will enjoy the close proximity to the Cascade Trail. Places to explore further from camp could be Deception Pass, Padilla Bay or the quaint towns of LaConner and Anacortes. We do not live on site but could potentially be there upon your arrival setting up any "extras" you've requested or finishing property maintenance. We do have friends nearby who alert us to anything that doesn't look right. ***As this is a working agricultural area we want to be transparent that farm activities such a spraying and harvesting of the blueberries may occur along property boundaries. More than likely this will not happen during your stay but be prepared to head to town for ice cream or to the Birdsview Brewery while things settle down around camp. Please let us know if you have any questions. This has not been a problem for us yet personally.

Two-8' picnic tables and a 3' X 4' serving/buffet table give plenty of seating for meals. Just minutes away you can walk to the river on a private trail. For safety purposes, a camp fire is allowed only in the provided fire pit. This site has space for 2 recreational vehicles (20' or less) or up to 3 tents. This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years. Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle. Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

Offering the use of it to others through Hipcamp is a fun way to share with others when not in use by us. We hope others will find the same joy we do. Property access is directly off the road with any vehicle. We have had large motor homes on the property without any trouble. Traffic is minimal with mostly other people off to enjoy their recreational land. The nearest neighbors are about 500' away across the blueberry fields. You may occasionally hear our neighbors enjoying their property as well but the noises sound distant and haven't been a problem for us. Because we allow dispersed camping there may be other people on the property with you. Please select our group camping option If you are interested in having the entire property for yourselves or for an event such as a family reunion or large friend group camping trip. The property is about one mile from the cascade bicycle trail which will take you to Sedro-Woolley in eleven miles or East to Birdsview Brewery in seven miles. If you explore even further East you'll find Act One Ice Cream Parlor adjacent to The Concrete Theater in Concrete. Check their website for hours and showings. A new local spot, Lyman Tavern, might also be a fun place to grab a bite to eat. Kids are allowed during certain hours. Cozy up next to a campfire at our fire pit constructed last season. It is located in the center of the property. Posts with solar lights are also around the fire pit. The lights are operated by remote so lights can be turned off to star gaze. You are welcome to burn any wood already down. Outdoor opportunities (hiking, biking, rafting) are in abundance from about any direction. To the East you'll find the North Cascade National Park, Baker Lake within the Mt. Baker National Forest, and Ross Lake National Recreation Area. Bicyclists will enjoy the close proximity to the Cascade Trail. Places to explore further from camp could be Deception Pass, Padilla Bay or the quaint towns of LaConner and Anacortes. We do not live on site but could potentially be there upon your arrival setting up any "extras" you've requested or finishing property maintenance. We do have friends nearby who alert us to anything that doesn't look right. ***As this is a working agricultural area we want to be transparent that farm activities such a spraying and harvesting of the blueberries may occur along property boundaries. More than likely this will not happen during your stay but be prepared to head to town for ice cream or to the Birdsview Brewery while things settle down around camp. The Gem is a beautiful tiny home in a cozy setting in the woods. It has a semi private drive. Hiking trails through the woods, with a glimpse of Church mountain out the door and just a jaunt to Cornell creek. Bodigers bond across the street and the Mt. Baker/Snoqualamie national forest right out your front door. It's a 1/4 mile from Glacier, Wa and 17 miles from the Mt. Baker ski area. Please note, this cabin accommodates 3 people. I will allow 5 but there is not beds for 5 people. 2 people are welcome to sleep in a tent under the poll barn. There is an additional charge for the 2 extra people. We don't allow dogs in the Gem at this time. Feel free to check out our other cabins on the same property. The Nook and The LTC both allow dogs.

This is a beautiful little piece of heaven located not far from amenities but far enough to feel like a great getaway from the hustle and bustle. While staying here you can enjoy an afternoon fishing or just enjoying the sound of water and the outdoors on the beach of the private river access. You'll be very near great hiking and backpacking trails. In the spring and summer you can enjoy fishing, hiking, boating, backpacking, and much more. Welcome to our peaceful property with beautiful views in every direction! Surrounded by blueberry fields, we purchased this property to enjoy camping with our three kids, extended family, and friends away from crowded campgrounds . Offering the use of it to others through Hipcamp is a fun way to share with others when not in use by us. We hope others will find the same joy we do. Property access is directly off the road with any vehicle. We have had large motor homes on the property without any trouble. Traffic is minimal with mostly other people off to enjoy their recreational land. The nearest neighbors are about 500' away across the blueberry fields. You may occasionally hear our neighbors enjoying their property as well but the noises sound distant and haven't been a problem for us. Because we allow dispersed camping there may be other people on the property with you. Please select our group camping option If you are interested in having the entire property for yourselves or for an event such as a family reunion or large friend group camping trip. The property is about one mile from the cascade bicycle trail which will take you to Sedro-Woolley in eleven miles or East to Birdsview Brewery in seven miles. If you explore even further East you'll find Act One Ice Cream Parlor adjacent to The Concrete Theater in Concrete. Check their website for hours and showings. A new local spot, Lyman Tavern, might also be a fun place to grab a bite to eat. Kids are allowed during certain hours. Cozy up next to a campfire at our fire pit constructed last season. It is located in the center of the property. Posts with solar lights are also around the fire pit. The lights are operated by remote so lights can be turned off to star gaze. You are welcome to burn any wood already down. Outdoor opportunities (hiking, biking, rafting) are in abundance from about any direction. To the East you'll find the North Cascade National Park, Baker Lake within the Mt. Baker National Forest, and Ross Lake National Recreation Area. Bicyclists will enjoy the close proximity to the Cascade Trail. Places to explore further from camp could be Deception Pass, Padilla Bay or the quaint towns of LaConner and Anacortes. We do not live on site but could potentially be there upon your arrival setting up any "extras" you've requested or finishing property maintenance. We do have friends nearby who alert us to anything that doesn't look right. ***As this is a working agricultural area we want to be transparent that farm activities such a spraying and harvesting of the blueberries may occur along property boundaries. More than likely this will not happen during your stay but be prepared to head to town for ice cream or to the Birdsview Brewery while things settle down around camp. Please let us know if you have any questions. This has not been a problem for us yet personally.

The spacious Group Camp overlooks the beautiful Skagit River and is located on five riverfront acres adjacent to our family farm of 43 years. In addition to the Group Camp, there are just 3 single campsites on this property. Get ready to watch Canadian geese fly overhead, dip your toes in the warm sand and experience Peace Like a River. Take a walk along miles of dike, launch your kayak in the river, cast your line and fish the glacial river waters, or just soak up the tranquil beauty. The Group Camp features a huge central wood fire pit with cooking grill, and 7 adirondack chairs/2 side tables that overlook the river. The large custom outdoor kitchen (cold water) is perfect for meal prep and easy clean up. There is also a 3 burner propane stove (propane provided) . Two-8' picnic tables and a 3' X 4' serving/buffet table give plenty of seating for meals. Just minutes away you can walk to the river on a private trail. During the summer months there is typically a long sandbar. You will find stunning views in every direction with partial shade under towering cottonwoods. For safety purposes, a camp fire is allowed only in the provided fire pit. This site has space for 2 recreational vehicles (20' or less) or up to 3 tents. Current COVID restrictions apply for group size/composition. Our family has great respect for the beauty and power of the river. Care for safety must be taken on the river edges as they are steep in places, the glacial water is very cold, and it has a strong tidal current and hidden undertows. Such a great experience! This is the perfect Hipcamp for those that want a hub for surrounding activities! I enjoyed the site and the host was very appropriately communicative. The description of the place is perfectly honest. Expect a visit from fluffy dogs and lots of farm and wilderness sounds. I heard a barred owl when I first arrived. Tasty water and the sauna and bathroom/shower is perfect!

Great, out of the way, place. Spots are well marked, wiht plenty of space between them for privacy. There are farm animals that free range, including sheep (that are very cute), so heads up that there's lots of poop around. Andrea has three incredibly friendly dogs that came to say hello, and lots of cats around that are friendly too. The sauna is a great feature. The only drawback is that the sauna/bathhouse is a bit of an uphill hike from the campsites. Just plan your bathroom trips. Otherwise, lovely overnight here.

This was our second stay at this site, and it was just as good as the first. Hospitality is top notch, yet private. All the walking trails are great and extremly pet friendly. RV parking is super awesome, just pull right in to a level gravel spot and a full turnaround to get out. Can't ask for more than that. Although some would complain about no water or power, there is an outhouse and people should simply plan accordingly. All of the spots are private and great. We will be back, my dogs are already trying to book online.

This was our first attempt at a larger camping trip with 14 people and this site fit us all fairly comfortably! We had 4 medium/large tents set up and a pop up trailer. Not to mention 5 medium/large vehicles and we still had plenty of room to run around. The private access to the river was great for our fishing friends, the kids, and dog. There is an abundance of trees to provide excellent natural shade. The food prep/cooking area was incredibly handy. It included plenty of counter/table space, a water dispenser, and mini fridge. And our host, Cindy, was friendly, helpful, and patient with our shenanigans. We do plan to return for future camping trips!

We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves but the host was responsive if I had any questions via the app. The new sauna, outdoor showers with hot water, working toilets/sinks, and the swimming hole were the highlights for my last summer trip. I’ve already told my friends about this place and plan on coming back next year.

Nice big loop, trail entrances do go through the sides of the site but we had no one walk them and enter our booked area. Outhouses were cleaned daily, covered area was great but being your own light sources for night, lots of trails and swing sets. Easy open drive in on a paved road. No cell service. Bring your own water and power resources.

My bf and I really enjoyed staying here at Sunset Ridge! The RV was so cozy and had everything we needed to stay! We loved the outdoor seating area. Nice view! We spent most of our time in Bellingham which was a short 15 minute drive away. We also loved Shaum's dogs 😊 They came to greet us at least once a day! Shaums was so attentive to our stay but also gave us space to enjoy the area! Definitely recommend staying here! Looking forward to coming back to explore more of the trails, the nearby lake, and doing a bonfire! We were here during the fire ban.
