Inside the tent you will find a queen size bed, side tables, and a cafe table and chair set. We have put down foam flooring and a carpet for your comfort and provide numerous battery powered lights, lanterns and fans. In cold months we can add a propane heater to keep the chill away. We also have some games, maps of the area, decks of cards, and a fire extinguisher. Stepping outside the tent you'll find our long rainfly creates a covered porch where you can relax on our provided chairs. There are additional chairs around the firepit and each firepit has a cooking grate so you can cook over your campfire. We provide one bundle of firewood (including kindling) per night with your reservation. We do sell additional firewood, if needed. The road narrows as you get closer to the site, but there are reflectors along the way to keep you on the right path. We highly recommend arriving before dark. Parking: Parking is on the grass meadow between the entrance to the meadow and the walking path to the campsite. Reflectors are in place to outline the parking area. Avoid driving beyond the parking area and down steep inclines in the meadow, as softer ground presents a risk for getting stuck. A gorilla wagon is available in the parking area to help transport your belongings to the campsite. Toilet and Shower Set-up: There is a privacy tent that contains a toilet seat over a bucket. Place a bag with absorbent materials in the bucket for your biological needs. A portable automatic shower providing hot water is also available. In a wooded area bugs are normal. Loud noise or Guest not on the reservation will result in immediate termination and removal. We have a zero tolerance policy. The cabin was womderful. It had everything we needed for our overnight stay, including heat, coffee press, some water, fun games annd books, and a clean outhouse just a few steps away. We enjoyed a campfire by the river, and loved being so close to Shepherdstown ~1.5 miles away. I hope to return in the warmer seasons!

We loved camping at Julie’s! When we arrived she help get us to the site (it was dark out already) and showed us around. Every amenity was thought of. There were even cute lights on the cooking tent and on the walk to the other site. We rented both sites for our large group. The property is beautiful and we had the best time!

4 nights at Camping on the Hazel River

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this cabin! I communicated with Peggy through the HipCamp app, and she was very responsive and helpful. When we arrived, Tony met us at the parking area, showed us to the cabin, and took the time to explain how everything worked. He was incredibly kind, accommodating, and genuinely wanted to make sure we had a great experience. The cabin itself was spotless, rustic, and very cozy — exactly what we were hoping for. It has just the right amount of amenities: a small fridge, microwave, toaster oven, running water, and just enough hot water for a quick shower. The outdoor shower was one of our favorite parts — it felt peaceful and refreshing every time we used it. Before our trip, we asked if there was a way to cook outside, and Tony went above and beyond. He actually built a wonderful fire pit setup designed for cooking, which we used every day. It was such a fun and memorable part of our stay, and Tony even provided all the firewood we could possibly need. The property is beautiful, well maintained, and surrounded by about one to two miles of lovely hiking trails. It was quiet, private, and felt like our own little hideaway in nature. Tony gave us plenty of space while still being available if we needed anything. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience — highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a cozy, peaceful escape!

Both sites at Evensong were just wonderful for our 2 families, and Julie was a perfect host. The tents were very comfortable, the sites were very picturesque, and the grounds were perfect (and safe) for letting the kids run around and have adventures. We were particularly impressed with how well-appointed the sites were in terms of things like lanterns, kitchen equipment, and lots of other little details to make the stay more comfortable.

Very picturesque setting near an eclectic town. I went there by myself, no pets are allowed and it was everything I had hoped for. It was the last day of a week long trip and it is worth staying for multiple days. Views and cabin amenities are numerous and would recommend to future travelers.

This rustic cabin is a true serenity gem! From the moment we arrived, Tony was fantastic—he met us personally, helped us settle in, and made us feel right at home. The cabin itself is full of sweet charm, thoughtfully stocked with all the little necessities, and so well maintained. We spent our days walking along the river and hiking nearby trails, then ended our evenings cozied up by the fire, playing games and soaking in the peace. We truly didn’t want to leave and return to real-life adulting! The location is perfect—close to Skyline Drive and conveniently near stores—yet when you return, it feels like your own private slice of paradise. We’re already looking at dates to come back soon!

So beautiful standing on the waters edge. Cozy, clean cabin. Nicest "outhouse" I've used. Shepardstown nearby is a great little town and so close. Note: Wifi did not work well at all but only really wanted it to look up nearby places. Sadly it was drizzle so I didn't get to sit by the firepit by the river so I guess I'll have to come back. :-)

Weekend Trip to Mountain Lake Retreat

There were a lot of thoughtful touches, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the backyard was really nice. The hot tub was clean enough and worked well and the fire pit was lovely. The place felt a lot bigger than the pictures implied! The hosts communicated well enough, except missing the text that one of the two toilets was broken. Other notes: It is really three, full- or queen-sized beds + one very small mattress above the bed in the basement. It could technically fit 7 people if everyone shared beds except one small person, who slept on the small mattress above. The basement bathroom was iffy, with only a small spray of water in the shower, a toilet that didn't work while we were there, and a door that doesn't fully close.

We had a fantastic stay at Evensong Farm! The site was well set up with everything we needed — the amenities were all on point. I really appreciated that firewood (one bundle per night) and plenty of water were included, with the option to buy more wood if needed. The host was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. It was also really cool that the two sites are within easy walking distance of each other — perfect if you’re going with friends. There’s lots of space for extra tents, and it’s nice knowing you can comfortably fit up to 12 people if you want a bigger group gathering. The canvas tent itself was great, with a real bed and even a tent under the bed. The location is excellent — just a short drive to Harpers Ferry for a daytime hike and a beer afterward. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again!
