Attention Guests: Please note that ticks will be prevalent in wooded areas throughout the state due to the unseasonably warm winter we had last year. According to VCU Dr. Marconi, Virginia is experiencing a “quite extreme” tick season. As the skoolie is located in a wooded area, we are diligent in our efforts to manage them, but we advise all guests to take precautions. It is HIGHLY recommended to treat your dogs for ticks before your stay, and to perform thorough tick checks on yourselves and your pets during your stay with us and whenever you are in the woods. We want all guests to understand the risks before booking and to take necessary measures to protect themselves. *Beds* Comfortable queen-sized bed in the back. The couch folds down into a bed slightly smaller than a full size mattress. We have bedding included for both beds. The bus will sleep 3 comfortably, 4 if you really like each other! *Full Kitchen* Gas stove top inside the bus (back burner knob removed for fire safety). Pots, pans, plates, bowls, utensils, storage containers, and coffee maker/french press are all included. Pantry space to store your food. RV fridge and freezer. Small kitchen sink with hot water and a 7 gallon water tank underneath the sink that you will need to empty if full. *Bus Bathroom* There is a Nature’s Head composting toilet, with instructions included, and please only use the bus bathroom for urinating only. *Main House Full Bathroom* You have access to a full bathroom, shower, and laundry in a side door of the main house. If you prefer convenience over adventure and are not comfortable with a short walk (approximately 150 feet) to use the bathroom facilities, this may not be the ideal booking for you. The owners of the house also use this space for laundry, but it is closed off from the rest of the house to ensure privacy. *Heating/Cooling* Portable A/C unit on bus. A small space heater has been provided that works well to keep the bus warm in winter. Also has a wood burning stove, with firestarters and wood for the stove included. In the winter, it could still be a bit cold on the bus so we encourage you to bring extra blankets and clothing depending on the weather. Maxxair Fan and personal fans for your use are provided. *Outdoors* Includes a deck with a small seating area, picnic table to enjoy your meals, and a portable propane grill for your use. Enjoy a campfire in the private fire ring. There is plenty of firewood to collect in the woods. Please keep in mind that there are two dogs on the property contained to the yard by an electric invisible fence. The dogs are not able to access the campsite. We ask that you keep your pup on a leash unless it is well trained and can stay in the campsite area and away from our pets. *Extra Guests* We allow a maximum of 4 guests to stay inside the bus. For a fee, you can have extra guests stay with you in a tent outside. Please let us know before booking if you will be bringing extra guests. ——— Guest access You will need to drive on grass and through the backyard to access the school bus. There is parking right next to the campsite. We will be respectful of your space and privacy, but with that being said we like to grill out and hang out on the back deck pretty often so feel free to come over and chat. ——— Other things to note The interior height of the bus is only 6 feet so please note that it could be a bit cramped for taller individuals. Sharp's Island

Sharp's Island is so named because the Sharp family of Richmond owned it as far back as the 1850s. The old brick foundation you see in the pictures is all that remains of a house that was built on the island in 1895 and stood for 75 years! We consider ourselves stewards of an amazing historic, ecological, geologic, and recreational asset, and we had love to have you add your own story to this island's long history! NOTE: The parking situation has changed due to construction! The parking information in the pictures is not correct (but Hipcamp won't let me delete them). Contact Andy at 804-212-6639 for parking instructions. You have to get to Sharp's Island on your own, but we can rent you a canoe or kayak (it's super easy). Learn more about this land: One-of-a-kind really only begins to describe 1-acre Sharp's Island! For starters, this is the only legal camping option in the city of Richmond. You read that correctly. This is your own private island, and it's right in the heart of downtown RVA! The Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain right here at Sharp's Island. That makes for amazing fishing, especially during the spring shad and striper runs. Some other incredible things about camping at Sharp's Island: You can motor up to it from Ancarrow's Landing, canoe over from the trail just below Mayo Bridge, or make this the destination for your downriver raft/kayak trip; at summer river levels there are literally dozens of great swimming holes along the banks (we can sell you tubes for lounging); choose your own campsite: sandy beach or forested interior; Fire pit ready and waiting for you. Porta johns also available in front of tasting room building, and water hose on East side of building for small amounts of water if needed (not intended to fill camper tanks). *Do note that we are a public business open Thurs-Mon, so there may be some noise and driveway traffic during open hours. We are between the Cities of Fredericksburg to our north and Richmond to our south. This site had Civil War activity throughout the region, especially along the banks of the North Anna. We are an African American family that has owned this property for 5 generations. My late grandparents instilled in me since when I was young the importance of land stewardship. My mother and I take it very seriously. We have approximately 140 acres of wooded acreage (plenty of places to pitch a tent) with a couple of trails, one leading to the North Anna River. Except for the local freight trains, and occasional afternoon target shooting from neighboring properties, it is very quiet and peaceful. Boat ramp about 5 miles away. Walking access to river on site and at county line (1 mile). Local attractions within a 20 mile radius are Sassafras Shade Winery, Kings Dominion Theme Park, Virginia State Fairgrounds, Stonewall Jackson Death Site, Dominion Raceway, North Anna Battlefield, Scotchtown (former home of Patrick Henry), Ashland Berry Farm, and Randolph Macon College. Nearest store for groceries and gas is about 5 minutes away in Chilesburg. 10 miles to fast food and pharmacy. The property is surrounded by hardwoods, with hiking trails for varied wildlife and bird watching opportunities. We have two camp sites on the water, each a short walk to the main beach for canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, boarding, swimming, and sunning. We offer a camp kitchen and an outdoor shower at the main lodge for your convenience. Each camp site has their own beach, fire pit and toilet facility for added privacy. (Firewood is provided complimentary) The Meadows is a family friendly destination that won't disappoint. You'll have exclusive access to our campsite, within easy access from Richmond (20 minutes), Fredericksburg (30 minutes) and Northern Virginia (60 minutes). You'll have acres and acres to explore during the day and a chance to enjoy beautiful views on the water around our fire pit at night. The river offers an opportunity for swimming, canoeing, kayaking and fishing, just down the steps from the campsite.Pricing is $40 for four guests and $10 for each additional guest, per night. This is due to a yearly Festival held in Scottsville where Historic river boats that used to haul goods up and down the river back in the day are maned by people in period clothing re-enacting the route that was taken. Smallmouth and catfish are biting Go by a local store and buy night crawlers worms and a pack of 2/0 hooks and you will catch something . You can now buy river tubes from the host. We will pump them up and deliver to your site. Fire wood also available delivered. 30.00 for UTV LOAD. Accessible by car or canoe, East End at Seven Islands provides endless fun for the whole family, including your well behaved off-leash dogs. When you arrive take a cooling dip in a quiet “river pool”, relax on your private beach, or see if the fish are biting. Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Pitch your tent on the beach or under the trees if you prefer some shade. Spend your nights stargazing, enjoying a campfire (remember to bring s’mores ingredients), or fishing for catfish. This is an ideal family-oriented campsite about an hour NW of Richmond. Come, enjoy and make some memories! Children 10 and under are free. The real estate sign at the entrance is for the farm house only. Camp sites are not for sale and won’t be. Future bookings are no problem Safety Notice: Not accessible by boat, canoe, or kayak when the James River level is 6 feet or higher at Scottsville. At 7.5 - 8 feet, there is not much beach to play on and the river is too dangerous to navigate. You can drive in and camp, but please stay clear of all water activities, including fishing, in these dangerous conditions.

Enjoy beautiful nature trails for biking, hiking, bird watching, mushroom hunting, or medicinal herb spotting. Beautiful scenic overview of adjacent property's pond, makes for the most romantic and instagram perfect photos. Access to lovely Beaver Dam Creek for taking a dip, panning for stones, or simply watching wildlife and flora. Property is absolutely magical with ferns, huge established trees, assorted mosses, hardwood mushrooms, lichen, medicinal and edible herbs. We also have quite a few animals running around. Feel free to pet and enjoy any and everything you find, except any black snakes you may come across. They simply would not appreciate it. We are adding animals daily so feel free to check our photos for what to expect. City Camp on Reedy Creek

Learn more about this land: Come take a load off at this forested Richmond retreat overlooking Reedy Creek. Set up a tent, car camp, or bring your small trailer to one of two sites on a unique property backed up to 20+ acres of woods. Imagine a hidden gem where you can relax to the sounds of rushing water and chirping birds, but can walk or bike to coffee shops, breweries, restaurants, parks or the river. If you are coming into Richmond for a Brown's Island event we are a five minute Uber to an access point using the Potterfield walking bridge (it's a beautiful walk across the James River to the island). Each campsite includes 3 level spots to pitch tents (see dimensions below), and a connected space to park one car, van or small trailer. The large parking space can be used as a fourth tent footprint if needed. There are additional parking spaces. Each site has a fire pit (with firewood on site), a grate to grill over the fire, a picnic table, and a hammock. There is a shared outbuilding with a composting toilet, hand washing sink, outdoor shower (solar warmed), and space to change privately. Campsite W ~ Tent footprints: 1) 10' x 12' 2) 10' x 13' 3) 9' x 10' Campsite E ~ Tent footprints: 1) 15'x16' 2) 10' x 15' 3) 9' x 10' **Pricing is based on groups of up to four adults or two adults with children. For groups of five to seven adults there is an additional charge of $10 person per day. For groups of eight or more we suggest you reserve both sites and have the entire camp to yourselves. Campsites W and E are about 80' apart. Both are around 100' to the creek. The spots can accommodate a total length (towing vehicle plus trailer) of up to 35 ft. There is an outdoor spigot with potable water and hoses for clean up. The woodlands and creek adjacent to the campsites have trails that are accessible to the public. You and your furry friends are welcome to use these paths, but know that others may be using them too. Richmond has so much to offer and we are just a hop, skip, and a jump to many wonderful attractions - kayak or sunbathe on the James River, walk or bike on trails around the city, rock climb, dine, imbibe. PLEASE NOTE* These sites are on a private property with a house that is visible to campers, but we give our guests complete privacy and don't plan to interact unless you need something from us. While you are on a 2 acre property backed up to a 20 acre wooded area, we are still in the middle of the city and you will hear city sounds. This is a safe space. We do not discriminate based on anything that makes you...you.
