We offer primitive camping (tents) along Reed Creek in Wythe County, Virginia. Although we are a primitive campground, we do offer amenities to make your stay comfortable, including portable toilets and trash collection. We do NOT provide potable water or electricity at our sites. We have five regular waterfront sites, one waterfront drive-in truck tent site, and two day use sites. All sites have a firepit and table. We do have additional overflow sites on the property, so if you see that we are sold out, just contact us!
There is also a shared common area that includes a picnic table, large charcoal grill, swing set, and several mini libraires.
*KAYAK - CANOE - AND TUBE RENTALS, WITH SHUTTLE SERVICE*
Rentals and shuttle vans are available on the weekends and holidays (weather permitting). Paddlers property has approximately 1/2 mile of creek frontage. From there you are approximately another 1/2 mile from the New River. You can either start your trip at Paddlers or we can shuttle you to/from other local areas (including Foster Falls and Allisonia boat ramp)!

Each site has full hook ups. No tents are allowed due to lack of toilet facilities.
Area grocery stores are located about 30 minutes away in Wytheville, Pulaski and Hillsville.

We have traced this farm's history back to the 1750's when a mill was built on Reed Creek. There is a log home that we know that was built in 1840 still on the premises. The white farm house across from the camp sites was built in 1877.
The fish hatchery that is still in operation today was built by the Federal Government in 1923.

Camp site situated along 3 separate creeks connected by one large private 11 acre field. Tate Run/ Reed Creek/ Venrick Run. The farm house is across the road and the whole property comprises of 88 acres of woods and pasature.
The farm house was built in 1877 and the Ranch currently operates with 30 head of cattle and a working trout hatchery. We have traced this farm lineage back to the 1750's when a mill was constructed at the meeting of Tate Run and Reed Creek by Swiss Immigrant Henry Grubb.
Camping here along Reed Creek is peaceful and quiet. Located just a few short miles from town it is easy to get to ...but a long way from the world at large. In Short, it is lovely and we hope you enjoy it.

174 Acres of forested land in the Draper, Virginia area with scattered clearings connected by over 2 miles of cleared roads throughout the property, which are perfect for hiking, cycling, and horseback riding. The property includes a very small creek, several ravines, ridge lines and trails to explore. We frequently encounter deer, rabbits, squirrels, and the occasional turkey, black bear, coyotes and Bigfoot. The thing people seem to enjoy most is the privacy and and quiet that allows you to connect with nature. Each of the 3 sites is hundreds of yards apart. Note: there is no bathroom on the premises, however you can book a toilet tent as an extra. 4 Wheel Drive or All wheel drive are helpful during the winter months if there has been a lot of rain or snow/ice.
Things to watch out for are deer ticks and poison ivy. Campers are expected to leave the site neat and take all their trash with them.
We are located about 5 minutes from I-81 or 15 minutes from I-77 making it an easy place to stop when passing through on your way to other adventures. If you are coming on I-81, use exit 89-A. Don't let Google maps take you to Frog Level Ct near the town of Pulaski (LOL). Nearby attractions include Appalachian Gem and Gold Mine on Route 100 (5 min), New River Trail State Park (10 min), Claytor Lake State Park (20 min) and the Town of Draper has a couple small town shops to explore including The Draper Mercantile and Trading Company and the newly opened Conery where you can get wonderful ice cream cones and more. Also, check out the Draper Mountain overlook on Rt 11, just 10 minutes from our HipCamp.
We love hosting campers and are happy to help make accommodations to help you have an enjoyable stay. We have 3 sites but only allow 2 to be in use at a time on the property. This insures that all guests continue to feel complete privacy from others and allows us to always have an alternate site available if campers want to change. Bring your dogs !
Available "Extras" include portable toilet setup, Woodshop class making a cutting board, Bigfoot sitings as well as various camping gear items and games. If there are other extra's you would like to see or something you forgot to bring please let us know and we will see what we can do.

There is a safari tent at the far end of this property as a different listing. This land has three hookups for a small trailer, car, truck, van or tent. Car camping is allowed and appreciated. each hookup has power, water, a camp charcoal grill, picnic table, and that running water right beside each site. There is a small bathhouse with a conventional toilet, and an outside shower with hot water at the gated entrance of the property. Each site is located right by the water for easy fishing access, in this trout stocked water. In the winter months, if it is below freezing temps, there may not be running water. The Firefly is nestled between trees, on a loud, rushing creek, on a five acre property that is mostly cleared and on a hard surface dead end rd, a few miles from Hillsville, Va. The firefly is comfortable for a small family or a romantic get away for couples. The creek is stocked with trout, with easy access along the creek, perfect for wading, floating, and relaxing to the noise. What a wonderful spacious and quiet serene spot! David was extremely accommodating and friendly, and even took me on an ATV tour of the 100+ acre property. Great on so many levels. Lots of wilderness to explore and close to the highway yet not bombarded with traffic noise- great balance between seclusion and closeness to transit. Highly recommend!

First of all, the owners, David and Kathy are AMAZING - they bent over backwards for me (I’ll get to that in a minute). Secondly the property was beautiful and everything we could’ve asked for. We stayed at Easter Egg Meadow with my family of 6, including two kids under 4 years old, and my friend’s family with another 3 year old. Easter Egg Meadow was perfect! Plenty of shade for us to be comfortable in a little heat wave, and plenty of room, even with 3 tents set up, for the kids to run around and have a great time. There’s so much to explore at this property and we can’t wait to go back! Now, back to David and Kathy. Both came up to greet us when we got there, and I thoroughly enjoyed talking with them. David even took everyone on a tour of the entire 170+ acre property in his Kawasaki Mule. Here’s where they went above and beyond. We got packed up to head home after our two nights there, and my Suburban wouldn’t start. My wife and I tried to jump it for an hour from her car and had no luck. I asked David if he thought a tow truck could get up to get my car. He said, “Help is on the way.” His neighbor drove me to Pulaski to get a new battery and then he and David helped me replace the battery in my car. It was an unbelievable display of kindness from David, Kathy and their neighbor, Mike to me, a complete stranger. They are genuinely great people, and I appreciate them more than they’ll ever know!

This has been our 7th time to visit. The road and campsite gravel has vastly improved and a lot of previous brush blocking the views of the river below have been cut back so now you can see it all. Sunsets continue to be spectacular and the hasn't been a better spot to relax throughout the day and take it all in.

Jodee's camp is set with love and creativity. Clean and pretty washroom, outdoor showers are the appreciated features of the rustic comfort. The electrical outlets on sites and a washing machine available - surprisingly present at such a decent price. The creek and the frog's songs after the sunset, the stargazing... we had a relaxing evening and a happy night.
