The Cedar Grove sites 1, 2, and 3 are along the banks of Passage Creek located within a sparse, groomed Cedar grove. They are all a short walk (or drive) to the lake and beach amenities. Each site has varying access to the creek, so check out the site details. These sites are extra large and can accommodate multiple family groups, as well as, travel trailers of all sizes up to off-road motorcoaches in site 1. There are no hookups, so just boondocking. Pack it in, Pack it out. Generators are allowed but please be aware of the other sites and direct the noise away. The Lakeside Mountain Stream site is very secluded, nestled between the mountains and the lake. It overlooks our 5-acre lake with mountain views in the background. It's on the opposite side of the lake from the Cedar Sites. This site has its own dock and is just a short walk down a mowed trail to a beautiful section of Passage Creek. An additional seasonal mountain stream can cascade behind the site and run under it to feed the lake when the conditions are right. 116 acres of hills and dells. Miles of hiking trails marked and well maintained. A small pond and beautiful labyrinth. Over 50 acres of deep wilderness woods. General Lee and his troops once camped here. But they cleaned up pretty good, so all you can really see is the old spring and wagon road. This is a working herb and small fruit farm. We have been experimenting with all kinds of exotic herbs and trees. Some make it, many don't. We sell dried herb teas. In addition we have 5 different kinds of bamboo. We use the bamboo for so many things. In the 5 people per site we are considering adults, not children... bring a whole crew of kids (try to have enough supervision - if there is such a concept!) The kids have such a great time out here... it is amazing. They love the labyrinth! It seems like we made this place for the kids in ourselves and when actual kids see it they go wild. The last bunch were running and yelping with their picked flowers all round and round in the labyrinth for hours! Also, if you want peace and quiet - and we have children booked - we will put you out at one beautiful remote campsites away from all the kids running and singing.

We spent two nights at #3. It is very well situated in regards to the trail and house. We forgot a pot for coffee and were able to borrow from the house, which we are grateful for. We went 5 min down the road into Bluemont for a visit to the general store and community playground. Great woods, wonderful campfire, kids (6 & 8) had a blast!

These sites are located at the Bear's Den Center along the AT in Virginia. Super cool location, and you can walk to a large brewery/restaurant within 15 minutes. I'd definitely camp here again. Fair warning: while the tent sites are quite large, they are all arranged in a circle. If any of the sites are rambunctious, you will hear it. Didn't bother, but don't come here expecting to be alone.

The campers before us did leave broken glass and plastic around our camp site, however the property was beautiful and the host was very responsive and helpful. We had a lovely relaxing stay and got to hike a part of the Appalachian trail we haven’t seen before. Would definitely revisit.

You can tell Donald is passionate about his land. We had an amazing time tent camping at Site 10. The site was extremely neat and tidy. Site 10 is perfect if you want an isolated camping experience. We will return! 4x4 vehicles recommended.

We really enjoyed our one night stay. Firewood and water provided was really nice. Fun to watch people sky diving from the small nearby airstrip. I’d recommend this campground.

This site is named after the wooden table it has bear claw marks on it from one of our local black bears who visit occasionally.

Site 2 was perfect. Peaceful and secluded. Having 6 cane corsos who just loved the open field and playing in the water along the river. Will definitely return to Paradise on the rivers bend.

Weekend Trip to HUNTER'S PARK BY WASHINGTON, DC

Hunters Park at Mezza Luna Farm was awesome. We stayed in the T1 site. Plenty of room for multiple tents and cars. There's firewood for sale right by the site, which was very convenient. There was an outdoor sink at the site, which was nice (though in colder months the water is shut off). There's a porta potty that was very clean - maybe the cleanest portapotty I've ever seen. The farm is beautiful with lots of horses to see. You're allowed to go visit them in the stables. There's plenty of paths to walk around the property if you want to go on a hike. Keith came by to visit - very friendly and welcoming. One family in our group had a couple small children. They did fine and loved seeing the horses. Damascus is very close by - easy access to groceries if you need anything. We'll be back again!

Weekend Trip to Beaver Cove

My husband and I had a wonderful time with our 3 dogs camping on Lynda's property for a weekend trip to Shenandoah! The dogs loved being able to run around and play off leash. We set up camp next to the creek where the fire pit was, and it was so quiet and peaceful. We did not use the electric but used the water spigot, which was just a short walk from where we set up camp. We definitely did not explore the property as much as we could have since we spent most of our time there relaxing by the fire after hiking in the national park, but it is absolutely beautiful and there is tons to explore! We hauled a pop up camper with a Ford Excursion, which worked great for us and we are used to doing this kind of thing, but I will say when Lynda says you need 4WD to get down the hill to the creek camping area she is not lying. Use your judgement. If you are not comfortable hauling something up and down a very steep hill and driving on a narrow dirt road, don't chance it. You can definitely get stuck. There is another area where you can set up camp and can still explore the property all the same! Shenandoah is just a short drive away, which makes this the perfect location. There is a road next to the property but it is a quiet back road - only a couple cars when by during our time there. We definitely recommend Lynda's property!!!

Camp site was clean and signage was good. there was a little confusion at first on where the camp sites were, but it was quickly shown when addressing the map. The trails were awesome, we look forward to coming back!

This was a beautiful space and we had a great time. I’d recommend renting both sites. We loved walking to the river. The facilities were clean and a step up from the primitive camping we were expecting.

Weekend Trip to Big Dipper Ranch camping - glamping

We absolutely loved staying here. It was "roughing it" without really "roughing it". I.e., we had access to a toilet and an actual bed. The night we arrived was unseasonably cold, but a propane heater was provided and the bed was warm, cozy and really felt luxurious. So comfy! Jud taught us about the berries on the bushes that kids loved to eat and also feed the goats with. The location was perfect too. Allowed us to be flexible with our plans since hikes and other attractions were abundant, some as close as minutes away. Has easily become one of our favorite places to camp.

8 nights at Pastimes on Passage Creek Ranch

The sites were large and had a huge fire ring and little grill. The pond is beautiful in the mornings and there's tons of free equipment if you feel like a paddle. The owner/caretaker is lovely and gives great local advice and the porta-potties were very clean. The little creek running around the property brings lots of ambiance and the occasional deer! No water options here but the national campground north of the property has a well/pump.
