This was our 2nd time trip.It was fabulous to stay at Bear den and visited brewery near by which is an added treat for us.

Had a great experience at Bear’s Den. Very spacious with lots of nature around. Easy access to hiking trails, a magnificent overlook, and conveniently located near wineries and breweries. I probably could have been more prepared in coordinating my travel, however whenever we tracked down all the amenities we had an overall phenomenal experience.

Mary and John have the most beautiful, private spot on the North Fork of the Shenadoah River. They are even willing to shuttle you up the river to float down on their kayaks for a small fee. I was amazed the bugs were not very bad. Put this place on your bucket list of mostly primitive camping spots. Though they do make an outdoor shower available for a fee.

2 nights at Camp Cedar Creek

The location was perfect for a hot trip when it was time to sleep. We were in the shade and able to jump in the creek to cool off whenever. We went tubing several times to the forks and the walk was a really easy walk back to camp. This was a great offgrid location and Dave and Josh were readily available if we needed anything. Definitely worth it!

Wonderful easy stay. Mary and John were there to greet us at their home and were so lovely. The tent site itself is private along the river but the fire pit is actually up closer to their house, which is no biggie because they left us to do our thing. The river is absolutely awesome.

Weekend Trip to Smith Ridge Harper's Ferry

This cabin was pure magic. Nestled in the woods just minutes from Harpers Ferry, it felt like a true retreat—but with all the comforts you could want. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming, greeting us with local recommendations and even grilling up some sausages in the evening. You can tell how much heart he’s put into the space—he built the cabin himself using recycled and reclaimed materials from the property and old homes, and it shows in every unique, thoughtful detail. Windows on three sides make it feel like you’re sleeping in a treehouse, completely surrounded by nature. We had our coffee in the morning and watched hummingbirds just outside the window. There’s also a fire pit, cozy sleeping area, and some much appreciated AC during the heat wave. Our dog absolutely loved it too. We spent our days tubing, hiking, and exploring the historic town of Harpers Ferry, and it was always such a joy to come back to the site. It’s whimsical, woodsy, and wonderfully convenient—a perfect blend of adventure and serenity. We’ll definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to HUNTER'S PARK BY WASHINGTON, DC

Keith was amazing host. We had a group of 20 high school students come out for a weekend camping. The students got to pet and feed the horses. The were able to pick eggs from the chicken and peacock coups. Its was really a great weekend

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at this campsite. The site place was spotless. Additionally, the location is fantastic, with a natural setting that allowed us to relax and enjoy to the fullest. We will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Foxfield Farm

We enjoyed our stay at Foxfield Farm. The quiet setting was lovely. The camper was very clean, comfortable and nicely arranged for our family of 5 and black lab. Our kids loved having an evening and morning swim in the pool and we appreciated the tea and coffee set up as well as the fully equipped kitchen and bath. The only challenge was finding it, which was hard after a long day of driving, but after searching nearby for a little while, our host was able to help us find the destination. We recommend this spot for sure!

The land is beautiful and full of life, we stayed in Camp site #2 parking was so conveniently close to the campsite , the night was pleasantly peaceful and beautiful, it look like a lights show with the lightning bugs. Hilary was an amazing person to meet, we learned so much about herbs 🌿 and the farm.

We tent camped at site 3 and had a wonderful experience. Very family-friendly, and right off the AT. The sites have brick fire pits, benches, and picnic tables - everything we needed. The folks who run the place were lovely and the surrounding land was very pretty. Also, the privy was very clean. We look forward to staying again in the future!

Bear's Den is the perfect camping site! A beautiful, peaceful retreat under the trees. We only drove an hour to get there, but it still felt far away from everything. The hiking trails around the site are gorgeous and kid friendly. It was wonderful!

The boat launch is used by River Riders to drop off some of our guests. A 1.5-mile walking and biking trail leads directly to Harpers Ferry from the campground to the town of Harpers Ferry. Canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are available on-site. NOTICE:There is an active railroad that runs adjacent to the campground and a one way tunnel nearby. The train runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, although the frequency varies and you may hear honking from the tunnel. Light sleepers should bring earplugs. Check-in is at 4 pm at our main office 408 Alstadts Hill Rd, Harpers Ferry, and check-out is at 11 am.

Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career. In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields. Hint! You will arrive at our house, and the campsite is approximately 150 yds down the river trail. The campsite is completely private from our house. There’s great fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing from the property and also plenty more nearby. We’re only a few miles outside of Strasburg which offers great antique shops, dining, and a brewery with live music on weekends. Five night maximum permitted. We prefer that guests arrive before dark. **Note that the North Fork is a shallow river with a slate bottom. If you plan to wade, fish or swim in the river, you may want to bring some sturdy shoes to wear in the river.

We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.

We ask that you remove all trash and a few other things upon departing to help us stay safe as well.The internet cannot be guaranteed if there is a problem with the provider. In a wooded area bugs are normal. Loud noise or Guest not on the reservation will result in immediate termination and removal. We have a zero tolerance policy.
