-From Alpine: take HWY 118 South out of Alpine approximately 62 miles until you come to the only left turn lane. Turn left on Terlingua Ranch Road. You will see the large white Terlingua Ranch Lodge sign.
-From Study Butte: take Hwy 118 North 16 miles from the ALON gas station, turn right at the Terlingua Ranch Lodge sign.
2. Follow Terlingua Ranch Road approximately 16 miles. The first 13 miles are asphalt. There is not a center stripe, please stay on your side of the road. THE LAST THREE MILES ARE ON A MAINTAINED DIRT AND GRAVEL ROAD. It can be wash-boarded in areas. Please drive slowly and observe speed limits to help protect our roads
We are proud to be a part of The Greater Big Bend International Dark Sky Reserve. All guests are requested to keep their site as dark as possible between 10pm and 6am.
Fire Ban: Due to extreme drought, only gas grills and propane burners are allowed. NO charcoal or wood fires.

While we are adjacent to Big Bend National Park, it is approximately 36 miles to the Maverick Junction entrance of Big Bend National Park and an additional 22 miles to Panther Junction Headquarters and Visitors Center.
We are about 32 miles to Study Butte and about 37 miles to Terlingua Ghost Town area.
Terlingua Ranch is 192,000 acres of desert and mountains between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park in far SW Texas. Our campsites are in the area of the Terlingua Ranch Lodge, which features a swimming pool, cafe, laundry, bathhouse, disc golf course, access to hiking trails, and other amenities. Terlingua Ranch is the perfect venue for your basecamp to Big Bend adventures, family reunions, and myriad other activities in the area.

With 160 acres located just off Highway 118, two miles north of Study Butte, 7 miles from Terlingua Ghost Town, 7 miles from Big Bend National Park and 17 miles from Big Bend Ranch State Park, Arboles Muertos is a perfect place for tent campers, small trailers, Class-B RV's and digital nomads to set up a home base for all the many activities in the area.
Your privacy and personal space is our #1 priority, so our sites are spread out over the property and most are not in view of other sites, providing you with a backcountry camping experience, yet only a few minutes off the highway. We have several spotlessly clean composting pit toilets on the property, all just a short walk from your site. All guests have access to our centrally located outdoor hot/cold shower. Some of our sites have shade, and all have fire pits and level tent sites.
Rancho de los Arboles Muertos gets its name from the 25 foot tall Eastern Red Cedar trees that are being salvaged from land clearing operations near Austin and "planted" around the property. We're located directly across the highway from Willow Mountain, with an 800 foot sheer face rising over 1000 feet above the highway, making it one of the most prominent features in the area next to the Chisos of Big Bend. The property is covered in Ocotillo, hidden arroyos, tall bentonite dunes, volcanic ridges, dry creeks and the occasional fossil. Trail runners can easily create 5 mile loop over ridges and in arroyos without leaving the property. For the burners out there, the place has an unmistakable deep playa vibe. Welcome home )'(

Large groups are welcome and we also rent the entire 160 acre property for private events. We also have cabins and safari tents available on our website.
We are a completely off-grid property, so remember to bring water!
In the event of heavy rain, the roads could become impassible for a few hours to a couple days. If we see a major storm in the forecast, we will contact you directly to discuss options. The rainy season is late summer, however, and we are not taking bookings during that time, so this should not be an issue.

Quiet, far enough from ghost town revelry to be quite peaceful. Big stars of course, beautiful views. My only issue is - we could not find the place. Host was unresponsive. I lived in Terlingua for quite some time and have rarely been that lost. But, maybe it is a good thing. I think so. But when we got to the site, no markings on spots. More confusion for 2 exhausted folks. Also, no coffee! And no bar on memorial day weekend? The second one maybe good, because more quiet. But no coffee? Deal breaker. Still, we truly enjoyed it and are grateful to our hosts. Beautiful place and we would recommend and return.

We were just passing through for the night. The directions were great, and the host was very nice and engaging. They have a brand new outbuilding with many amenities. The lots were spacious, and everything was convenient. We were set up in minutes enjoying our dinner to a beautiful sunset with the wide expansive view.

Tremendous place to camp and stay a while! I’ve camped for years and have never enjoyed a quiet campsite that had delicious meals just a stroll from my camper door. What a convenience. And on occasion they have Karaoke. Fun stuff. They have a robust menu board that includes breakfast and dinner/supper. Worried about dessert? They have you covered.
Need a cabin? They have those. Need a shower? They have those for popup and tent campers.

As for the town -it’s between two great state parks: Palo Duro and Caprock Canyon SP.

Mountain View is an excellent place to camp. The bathroom is clean and the laundry is as well. The hosts are very responsive and helpful and the view os the mountains is magnificent. The only downside is the proximity the road which does have quite a few large trucks through the day.

This rv camp site is extraordinary, Jay and Regina are great just and their site is meticulously maintained. Each place has its own power, water and sewer, and is perfectly flat and leveled. You are not far from Guadalupe park and Carlsbag caverns. We recommend this place to anyone

We had our travel trailer at this small little RV park for 4 days. It was a nice place to stay with interesting sculpture and excellent wifi. The small laundry was reasonably priced. It was clean and well maintained. Our only wish were there were fewer lights at night.

This is a very nice and safe place to stay. Nothing to do in town but if you are on the road and need a place to stop and rest this is a safe comfortable place to be. Very quiet with no light noise just you and the stars. This is our second time staying here and our go to on the road as we cross the country. We highly recommend it.

I am on a multi month roadtrip. This was the perfect spot to stop for two nights while I resupplied and took care of some maintenance in Lubbock. It was quiet and secluded, yet easy to access town. The facility was great. Flush toilets, hot showers, and onsite laundry were a huge bonus. The full time residents were friendly. My neighbor even invited me to some homemade chicken wings.

The site was as described. Easy to get to and easy to see, once you arrive, where to pop your tent and park. The ground was very comfortable, very soft. Quiet at night. Very glad James has this option when I stop through.
