We loved ringing in the new year at Marlena’s space. Every single detail was accounted for, from the hammocks to the fire circle to the cozy outdoor kitchen, right down to the complimentary eggs from their chickens. We brought our 7 year olds along, who rated their experience a 10/10. Our pups would have rated it the same! We cannot wait to plan our return.

Weekend Trip to Hill Country Nature Retreat

Wonderful place. Lots of little touches that make it comfortable. It was rainy: two giant umbrellas. We tracked some dirt in: little brooms to clean up. We wanted some hot tea to warm up: a collection of every HEB flavor. The bed was super comfortable and we stayed cozy at 44F using the gas heater and leaving the windows open. Oh and the showers were hot. 100% great spot.

such a lovely spot in the hill country! the cabin was very cozy and comfortable for my family of 4. it’s situated perfectly to watch the sun rise and set and see the stars at night. marlena was also a wonderful host and very responsive. we also loved paying the hens a visit!

3 nights at Hill Country Nature Retreat

We had the most phenomenal stay at this camping spot. It’s the perfect balance of “roughing it” while still enjoying comforts like hot water and minimal electricity. The Airstream was fully stocked with everything we could possibly need, and the hosts’ attention to detail and communication were incredible. The location was wonderfully secluded, providing a peaceful sanctuary to disconnect from life and reconnect with ourselves. We were lucky to visit during a full moon, which made our nighttime walks magical—no flashlights needed! The weather was perfect for nightly fires, and we absolutely loved lounging in the hammocks, reading, napping, and soaking in the sounds of nature. It’s clear the couple who created this space poured so much love and care into curating a little piece of healing heaven. We left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and deeply grateful for our time there. We can’t wait to return and share this special place with friends.

Beautiful property and so carefully designed. I enjoyed swinging in the hammocks, grilling under the string lights, and observing nature on the trail loop. Bonus-a roadrunner greeted us at the driveway.

We are a family of 4 plus a dog with a studio apartment/casita available for short-term rental in our backyard. Casita El Dorado features a full bathroom, couch/murphy bed combo, mini fridge, and kitchenette. Guests will have access to our backyard and one off street parking spot. The backyard features several seating areas and a pool that are available to use during your stay. We have a grill, fire pit, and laundry facilities that can be used for an additional fee. Please note that while there is a fridge and tiny freezer, Casita El Dorado doesn’t provide cooking appliances. You are welcome to use your own camping stoves/grill outdoors in the designated area. OTHER SITES Tent Sites - We can accommodate two tents outside the casita, but they must be booked by the party booking the casita, and the casita restroom will be shared by all guests. Bootstrap Academy - Our pandemic backyard schoolhouse is now a flex space featuring a home office setup, some work out equipment, and a twin bed with a second twin mattress as a trundle. This space can also be booked by guests booking the casita for an extra fee.

When you are ready to go to sleep, head up the ladder to the unique sleeping loft (watch your head – the ceiling is low) with a cozy queen bed.
