We are located approximately 12 miles from Buescher/Bastrop State Park and approximately 15 miles from Rocky Hill Ranch, a mountain bike ranch. There is kayak rental available in both Smithville and Bastrop, where you can kayak down the Colorado River.

This is our family farm, though you probably will not see us much. The campsite is located on a corner of the property on Cummins Creek and once you get there you will feel secluded in nature. Matt grew up here swimming, fishing and exploring in this creek...the creek has taught him more about life than anyone ever could. I hope that you too can understand why we always walk alway feeling like this is a very special spot! The property borders a small creek and has abundant trees, and wildlife. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)!
Guests are required to communicate estimated time of arrival well in advance. When arriving, make sure to meet Aaron or a designate at the red gate before entering further into the property. If tent camping, please do not bring glass containers, also you must pack out all garbage and waste. Inquire ahead of time to see if firewood is available to be gathered on site, or if you will need to bring your own. There is currently a group of 10 people who spend the majority of our time living and striving to create community on these 85 beautiful acres of land.
Our goals are to establish a thriving community, grow most of our own food,
build tiny houses to rent or sell, create sustainability and be as self sufficient as possible, salvage
material for builds, host events and retreats, teach classes, and more. Please feel free to ask questions and share any interest you may have in what we are doing here.
Our property is a densely forested 85 acres with a walk-able 2 miles around the perimeter of the property and many trails and hidden nooks to explore throughout the heart of this beautiful escape back to our natural roots. We are in the process of mapping out the trails- which we plan to make available soon! For now those of you with a sense of adventure and desire to explore will certainly be satisfied.
We have a full acre size pond and a kayak that you can feel free to use. There is a communal area around the pond that we will be adding to in the near future- you may run into some of our community members or other campers there from time to time, we invite you to socialize, bring a chair, perhaps a beverage or snack and get to know each other and us as well if we cross paths!
You will observe and encounter wildlife in abundance including a variety of birds, wild hogs, opossums, armadillo, moles, spiders, scorpions, butterflies, praying mantis, walking sticks, snakes- keep an eye out for rattlesnakes and copperheads, deer, many insects, and more. Please be cautious and treat these creatures' home with respect for them as well as yourselves. Our property is also home to some lovely cows, chickens, a few dogs, and several cats- they (other than the cows who do what they please) generally remain in areas away from our camp sites though they may still decide to stop by to say hello!
We have many spaces available for camping throughout the property. These are primitive campsites on raw land so you will need to provide your own tent, water, food, and operate with a leave no trace mentality when camping here. There are areas that can accommodate large groups of campers as well as very secluded nooks if you are looking for a private retreat into nature. There is plenty of fallen wood available for firewood and a fire pit will be prepared for you before arrival!

. These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers.
The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so.
Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds.
Campfires are permitted.
There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one.
Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. I have very small livestock in the area frequently

If the pond’s low, bring a float or take our kayaks ten minutes away to a secret bend in the San Marcos River. We’ll share the pin.
Your close to town but, fully immersed in nature, so it's not ideal for small kids to wander alone. Ladders, beds, and trails, Not built to code. Not meant for crowds. Best for adults who can move comfortably and safely through a natural setting.

The property borders a small creek and has abundant trees, and wildlife. Beautiful views from every vantage with a high field on one half of the property and a low bottom land near the creek where there are many options for a relaxing, private stay. Chose big sky or a more secluded spot. Incredible wildflowers on display in the spring. The property is not bordered by close neighbors or dense housing, just more land so sunsets and rises are wonderful and open. Low ambient light pollution at night means the stars are very bright (and so are the fireflies)!

There is currently a group of 10 people who spend the majority of our time living and striving to create community on these 85 beautiful acres of land.
Our goals are to establish a thriving community, grow most of our own food,
build tiny houses to rent or sell, create sustainability and be as self sufficient as possible, salvage
material for builds, host events and retreats, teach classes, and more. Please feel free to ask questions and share any interest you may have in what we are doing here.
Our property is a densely forested 85 acres with a walk-able 2 miles around the perimeter of the property and many trails and hidden nooks to explore throughout the heart of this beautiful escape back to our natural roots. We are in the process of mapping out the trails- which we plan to make available soon! For now those of you with a sense of adventure and desire to explore will certainly be satisfied.
We have a full acre size pond and a kayak that you can feel free to use. There is a communal area around the pond that we will be adding to in the near future- you may run into some of our community members or other campers there from time to time, we invite you to socialize, bring a chair, perhaps a beverage or snack and get to know each other and us as well if we cross paths!
You will observe and encounter wildlife in abundance including a variety of birds, wild hogs, opossums, armadillo, moles, spiders, scorpions, butterflies, praying mantis, walking sticks, snakes- keep an eye out for rattlesnakes and copperheads, deer, many insects, and more. Please be cautious and treat these creatures' home with respect for them as well as yourselves. Our property is also home to some lovely cows, chickens, a few dogs, and several cats- they (other than the cows who do what they please) generally remain in areas away from our camp sites though they may still decide to stop by to say hello!
We have many spaces available for camping throughout the property. These are primitive campsites on raw land so you will need to provide your own tent, water, food, and operate with a leave no trace mentality when camping here. There are areas that can accommodate large groups of campers as well as very secluded nooks if you are looking for a private retreat into nature. There is plenty of fallen wood available for firewood and a fire pit will be prepared for you before arrival!

. These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers.
The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so.
Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds.
Campfires are permitted.
There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one.
Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. I have very small livestock in the area frequently

Harmless to humans, deadly to harmful spiders. The big harmless, banana spiders keep flies and mosquitos away. It's nature in balance.
If the pond’s low, bring a float or take our kayaks ten minutes away to a secret bend in the San Marcos River. We’ll share the pin.
Your close to town but, fully immersed in nature, so it's not ideal for small kids to wander alone. Ladders, beds, and trails, Not built to code. Not meant for crowds. Best for adults who can move comfortably and safely through a natural setting.
One night is an escape.

We loved this camp site! Giant pecan trees all around, the Guadelupe River flows slowly nearby. We felt a good connection to nature, the countless bird songs, and quiet nights. The access is easy and gated. There is live stock roaming around which was good for that "Feeling" .....All in all we would recommend this camp site for those who want peace, quiet, and nature connection!

We had a great weekend! Falling asleep under the stars and waking up to all the birds is good medicine. The river is fairly calm but deep enough to enjoy a wade, swim and some paddleboarding. I would consider this site a more of a hike in. It is quite a jaunt from parking. The composting toilet is a nice and welcome touch. It is important to note there is only 1 picnic table as of our stay. It may not be available if there is a second group camping. AJ has a wonderful vision for the property and is a delightful steward of the land.

We had a great time at this campground! It was a cozy place and the hosts were very hospitable. The compost restrooms were rustic but clean. There was pretty good shade in the full hookup site that we stayed at. They had scavenger hunts for the kids and provided maps for hiking and other things nearby. We were told to go to fisherman’s park for swimming but when we got there, the water was too low to swim. We ended up going to north bastrop lake which was a great place to swim but it is about 30 min drive from the campsite.

AJ’s land was quiet, serene, with river access in a couple different spots. Some areas were wide open and would probably be great for stargazing, and there was another area that we chose which had trees both huge and small. That area provided good shade and had a fire pit with a beautiful overlook of the lake. To get to the campsites, you pass through 5 gates total.

My group had a great time camping for my 33rd bday. The picnic table site was pretty awesome. Good view of the water, shade, and a nice breeze. Secluded for sure.
We were able to let the dogs off leash without worry at all. There’s an eagle’s nest right above the site too which was amazing.
There’s a bit of a cliff down to the water and a couple paths you can walk down. Fishing would probably be better than swimming due to the vegetation, but I’m sure in the summer you could find a good place to wade or swim.
There was a second group the 2nd night and we definitely had it much better than them at the site. They were far enough away we didn’t have to worry about the dogs, but there’s only 1 site with “amenities” I’d say, and the only spot near the water with a cleared area.
Be sure to prepare for driving in but ultimately walking 1/4 mile to the parking area after unpacking. I kinda liked the cars not being around but a bit different! I was a little worried about the large tree we camped under, it looked possibly dead with some fallen branches.

Camping overnight at Happy Horse was so peaceful. They are very friendly and took great care of us. We really appreciated the electrical and water hookups being right next to our site with the bathrooms and shower not much further away. The history of the place is interesting too so make sure you ask for a tour - plus there’s a scavenger hunt we will have to do when we come back. A nice home away from home in some gorgeous surroundings to take in a golden sunset through the trees.

We had such a great time staying at this treehouse in Lockhart! My wife and I stayed here with our two dogs, and it was the perfect cozy getaway for all of us. It had a really fun camping feel while still being comfortable, and the way it was creatively built around the tree made it feel unique and special. We especially loved the arts and crafts touches—it added so much charm. The bed was warm and super comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day outdoors. On top of that, the host was very responsive and genuinely kind, which made the whole stay even better. We’d definitely recommend this spot and would love to come back!

We had a great time camping at River Grove site 2. We were provided directions to the property and someone was waiting for us upon arrival. The site was clean, had plenty of space and it had 30 amp service for our RV. We fished along the river and had a great time camping and relaxing. If you are tent camping this spot would be good as there is plenty of level ground and plenty of room. You will need to bring your own portable toilet and water. If you are RV camping, there is an additional fee for electric. There are sheep and goats that roam the property and our kids enjoyed it! There is a fire pit but unfortunately there was a fire ban in effect and no open flames were allowed. We highly recommend River Grove and we will definitely be coming back!

We had such a great time here! It was perfect for the 2 of us, plus our dog. It was very comfortable and cozy, and we found a few good restaurants with patios so we could take our dog. She got to run around and play, and we got to relax in the hammock chairs and enjoy the fresh air. Wouldn't change a thing and will definitely be back! Jennifer was so nice and accommodating, and gave us a lot of info about where to go and what we could do. Absolutely recommend this place 1000%!
