We had a great time camping here. The spot we had was surrounded with trees and pretty secluded, it provided us privacy. In the morning, I love watching sunrise in front of the pond. By nightfall, you can hear the sound of nature- birds and more. It was a very relaxing weekend. Randall was a pleasant host. Long hikes are not possible, but there are pathways to walk around. Great option for primitive campers. Water is available but you need to walk from point A to B. Overall experience, great!

Another great trip to 4G ranch. Site was freshly mowed and clear directions on how to get there. Enjoyed the proximity to the fishing. My 12 year old loved being able to just walk on down there to cast his line. Will be back again soon!

Rands property is a beautiful tranquil treasure just outside of busy Dallas. If you dislike how close you are to other campers in state parks and are looking for an alternative, this is the place to go. An additional bonus is Rand has a couple of kayaks and paddle boards you can use on the pond. This place is a treat and I highly recommend.

A group of us camped there for one night and we had the best of time. Rand is a gracious host providing clear instructions and directions. His property is beautiful and tranquil where you can hike and do water activities in the pond. We were there the day after Pink Full Moon and the sky was clear that was perfect for Star and moon gazing. We had two ladies who bought a new tent for this outing and they said they enjoyed every minute of it and look forward for another outing at the property.

Welcome to Texas Safari Camp Come escape to a heavily wooded 31 acre pristine wildlife habitat. Only one hour east of Dallas but it feels like another world. At the end of a one lane rock road- this is a very secluded property. It is perfect for tent camping groups and individuals, has a very positive vibe and is more peaceful than most state parks. It adjoins a 950 acre wildlife park with 900 exotic animals. Many can be seen from the road or you can pay to drive through and feed the animals. Your host is Randall Oliver. He has been organizing group campouts (with as many as 40 people) for years and enjoys hosting, bringing people together and creating new friendships and memories. Everyone is welcome and campers are treated like family. He can teach your kids to kayak and build a camp fire. You can fish for largemouth bass, cat, crappy and bluegill in the two ponds and swim, paddle kayaks and paddle boards, hike the jungle trail and socialize around the campfires. There are no designated campsites. You can camp anywhere except between the green building and the front pond. No vehicles are allowed back on the property. Off road wagons are provided to help haul your gear. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from parking area. The rear pond is more secluded but farther from the parking and outhouse. There are four fire pits around the front pond and one next to the rear pond. The tiny handcrafted Hummingbird Tree House overlooks the front pond and features a queen bed, a smaller bed in the loft, electricity, lights, a fan, screened operable windows and outdoor table and chairs on the elevated deck. There is no heat or air conditioning in the tree house. You must bring your own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. No food, smoking or pets allowed in the tree house. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern composting toilet, sink, lights, soap, etc. and a nearby cold water outdoor shower (no privacy), sink and faucet.

Built in the 80's by the Corps of Engineers, Paradise has been a mainstay of the lake for many years. Recently, the current management team are working to grow Paradise into something special. With a huge focus on community and culture, Paradise has tons of space for people to come together and enjoy the company and also areas to wander off and find a quiet lakeside spot to relax. You'll also be able to catch one of the best breathtaking sunsets on the lake! The wildlife we have on the property is amazing! I have deer that sleep in my front yard, opossums, 600 bird species, and my favorite… the armadillos! We offer Kayaking on the property for a fee. We have a beautiful Hammock Garden free for guests to kick back and relax. Texoma Water Taxi is a text away to give guests a ride anywhere on the lake including restaurants. Rock-N A Ranch is roughly 20 minutes away and offers horseback riding. The Cabins and Campsites are within walking distance from each other but far enough away to create that illusion of privacy. We do have a neighborhood close by but you can’t see or hear them due to the woods. In my travels, I try to bring back something I’ve seen or learned to help improve the guest experience and environment. You’ll notice little touches of Asia, Mexico, and even Hill Country Texas! We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and treat every guest like family. We’re always a text away! You’ll see us out and about on our golf carts. If you ever need anything just holler (: Check-in time is at 3 pm. Camp Tonkawa Woods & Horse Camp

In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country? In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife. April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series. Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.

The Sniders played an important part in the development of our town, Lucas, and surrounding schools. Plus the Snider's old house and barn next door are being renovated by the new owners! Since 2013, we have brought in water and electricity to the land, built fences, a house and several barns. We have a flock of chickens, a bunch of loud, nosey Nubian dairy goats, 2 cats and 2 dogs. We farm organic vegetables, and have planted some fruit trees. We are committed to conservation of our land and the wildlife that call it home, and are working to restore our wildflower meadow (location of the campsite) to original prairie state. Come see us; we'd like to share it all with you! Learn more about this land: Come to Fieldsong Farm, absorb the peace and serenity, and leave refreshed! Stake your tent on the edge of our tallgrass wildflower meadow, and immerse yourself in diversity where the city ends and the country begins. Enjoy a fire in the fire ring from your seat on a "porch" swing as the sun goes down and the wildlife begin their nightly symphony. When the sun comes up, you'll have many choices to make--cycling, horseback riding, fishing, boating, paddling, hiking, running, strolling, visiting with the goats, cats and chickens, helping with farm chores, or just sitting to enjoy the peace and serenity of the farm. There are many great shopping and eating choices withing 15 miles. Breakfast will be brought to your campsite for an additional fee, booked in advance. Horse pasture rentals is available, also booked in advance. (We do not offer horseback riding,) Eggs, local honey, seasonal veggies, baked goods artisan food products, goat milk products and firewood are available for sale.
