It encompasses 994 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee. Take a hike on miles of trails comprised of forest paths, old wagon roads, or coal mining roads. If you find a chunk of coal on the ground feel free to take it home with you as a souvenir. If you are a history buff, you may be interested in discovering previous caretakers from the late 1800's and early 1900's in nearby cemeteries. The camp ground is on top of a mountain, and you will have to go through a locked gate and drive over a mile and half on a bumpy gravel/dirt road. Hartford has River Rafting, Zip Lines, Kayaking on the Pigeon River. You will be able to get away from it all. but less than 45 minutes from favorite tourist attractions like Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville. We are located 2.6 miles off of I-40 at mile marker 447 just across the NC state line.Learn more about this land:Small off grid campground away from the noise and bustle of bigger campgrounds. Seclusion and privacy at all cabins. Cabins are primitive with no power or plumbing. Cabins have full or queen bed with 1 set of bunk beds in 2 of the cabins, table and chairs. Fire pit. Charcoal grills and picnic tables outside for cooking and eating. Bathhouse on site with thermal shower and real toilet. You will need your camping items such as sleeping bags, lanterns, and cooking items etc.
