Downhome Country Farm is 10 acres of woods and prairie with a large garden, chickens, wild turkeys, guinea fowl, mules, horses, a dog, and bee hives in the pasture. We have two restored vintage campers that and multiple tent sites.The bathroom and solar shower are shared by all guests. There are 2 sites for self-contained RV's with 20A electric available and water at some sites. 2 tent sites are available until the hay season (August) then the pasture is wide open tent camping. Horse boarding with camping available too. Each site can request individual fire rings. We have an outdoor community area that has a large fire pit, covered shelter and a woodfired pizza oven that will be in use on some weekends and by request. A nature trail, fresh produce usually. A tetherball!! Plus national touring musicians are known to provide pop up private concerts some weekends and impromptu jam sessions by the campfire or on the front porch. On occasion, we have outdoor movies(when the sun goes down early) and morning yoga along with great activities in the surrounding community too. Or just hang out in the hammocks or swing from the 60 foot swing in the old cottonwood and soak in that downhome country feeling while it “snows” in July. Awarded South Dakota's best Hip Camp 4 times. Uncle B's farm is a small 11 acre hobby farm with a large vegetable garden, chickens, peafowl, guinea fowl, turkeys, dogs, and cats. There is an old quarried stone railroad bridge and a few short walking trails around the pond. The pond is at the back of the property where I have 6 dry camp sites listed as Uncle B's farm for tents or self contained RV's. All sites have partial to full shade and most have mature trees that will work for a hammock or tensile tent. All of the campsites have a firepit, some with cooking grates and all sites have a picnic table.
The "shower shack" is shared by all guests and has 2 separate 3/4 baths with all modern plumbing. There is also a basic outdoor kitchen with a few portable grills as well as a sink with modern plumbing.
Available at Uncle B's RV Camper site I have 3 RV sites with water and 30 Amp electrical hookups.
My "Ready Set Camp" listing is a dome tent set up and furnished with 4 cots, table, and lamp as well as a match ready fire.
The Barn loft apartment is a studio apartment with a small galley kitchen and private bath.

The Retreat at Pointer’s Ridge is a sandy spot located on 21 acres overlooking the Big Sioux River just 12 miles north of Sioux Falls. Open April through November, The Retreat is a place of quiet and natural beauty intended to foster social interaction and creative pursuits between artists and community in SE South Dakota. The site is on the far edge of an artist retreat, but hipcampers can enjoy their own private area.
Look out over the river to a farm on the opposite bank. Spend your time watching for wild turkeys, geese, eagles, and an occasional deer. Or hike the river bank or gravel country roads, fish in the river, take part in any Retreat activities if available, photography opportunities, enjoy an evening campfire under the stars.
You might find any type of creative activity in our Main Hall -- a workshop, concert, poetry reading, small theatrical production, or other social gathering. Or just enjoy a quiet evening on the long Main Hall porch. We have a couple grills and an outdoor pizza oven for your special cooking needs. Welcome to the Larson Homestead!
Our 13.5 acres has a lovely view of the pasture, creek, and surrounding farms. We have pet goats, cows, chickens, dogs, cats, and kittens! Depending on when you come you could witness baby chicks hatching or baby goats being born or bottled. The goats are super friendly and love to be petted or fed. You can wander around the pasture and creek during your stay. There are many RV spots with the power along with a pool!
Firewood is available on site. We reserve the right to prohibit fires if we feel it’s too dry or windy.
A picnic shelter is available to use for assistance if extra bedding or space is needed. The picnic shelter is equipped with a loft along with refrigeration, stove, oven, microwave, soon, shower, and a toilet. Next to the picnic shelter is a large area to have a bonfire where you can grill food or just relax around and enjoy the scenery!
Along with your stay, we provide being big boards and bags for your entertainment along with a stereo for music. If your family is traveling with four wheelers or dirt bikes we have a large area to explore along with a man-made track that is on the edge of the yard.
We are located 11 miles north off of interstate 90. We are 15 miles from Sioux Falls And 6 miles from Garretson (where you have the opportunity to visit Devils Gulch, Split Rock Park, or Palisades State Park!)
We have a large area for children to run and play including three different places in the sandbox.

B’s farm is Awesome! He has thought of everything all the attractions anyone would want to see with his own spin on it! Super easy to talk to and very helpful for a newbie using Hipcamp and first time being in SD. He even has a working pay phone probably the only one in the whole state. Overall great experience would recommend to anyone and will definitely book another stay if I’m ever in the area again.

Brian has an oasis of a property that he so carefully thought of every detail for; the entire place is a treasure trove and you can tell how much care and effort went into curating such a spectacular place. We arrived embarrassingly late after far too many rental car issues, and yet we were greeted by Brian, the best dogs in all of SD, and a smores kit that became the highlight and talking point of the rest of our drive across the country. Thank you for sharing your place with us, we’ll absolutely be back the next time we’re passing through (on time this time!)

I had a lot of fun out on Brian’s property! We reserved the ready, set, camp option and it made everything so convenient, we just bought our bags and bedding. It stormed the night we were there and we stayed safe in the tent and stayed dry. It was pretty cool honestly. Brian’s property has a lot of different things to check out.

We stayed at the Specialty Crop on a night with an epic lightning storm! Katie was so sweet to make sure we felt safe, and offered to let us hunker down with them in the basement if needed. We just got to (safely) enjoy the show from the porch. We were lucky to sample their delish homemade bread and leave with fresh eggs! Our girls loved it!

Uncle Brian's Hippie Bus is beautifully situated on the edge of a lovely, well-kept property. We especially liked the "misting gazebo" with a water spray to stave off hot weather, and the special touches like the magical bridge to get to the bus, and the walking trail near the bus that led to a mini-Mount Rushmore. Clearly Uncle B. maintains his property with love and a touch of magic and creativity!

Successful adventure to give my child the exposure to farm life adventures. Our hosts were warm and engaging. Their directions and instruction for sharing their property and animals were well received by my child. We absolutely enjoyed feeding the chickens, guineas, Atticus (turkey), and horses. We look forward to returning this fall to continue swinging on the big swing or hammocks, observing the animals, and making s'more around the heart hearth.

My partner and I and our 10 and 12 year old stayed in the Diner camper. Steve and Carole were so welcoming and made great efforts to ensure we had everything we needed. The horses were sweet, the land was beautiful, and the camper was set up with everything we needed. The kids got to share some treats with the horses and left with some very cool feathers from the variety of birds at the farm. Excellent stay—recommend this place whole heartedly!

This was the cutest, most peaceful little spot on our cross-country journey. The communication was fabulous, the tent setup was simple and thoughtful, and the peacefulness and feeling of privacy with a great view of this country property was just what we needed.
Unfortunately our journey brought us in very late in the dark and rain, so we didn't really get to enjoy the space the way we wanted to. That said, being able to pull up, run inside with a couple of necessities, and lay down for the night with the sound of the rain and not worry about anything else, was wonderful.
We would have liked to enjoy the firepit and the view, and the stargazing from bed - but this spot was way better than stopping at a motel or the dreadful process of trying to pull all our stuff out, cover it with tarps in the rain, and car camp for the night.
I would absolutely book this site again.
