Conveniently located on the East side of Custer with easy access to the Custer Spur bike trail. The French Creek runs through the property, lots of wildlife frequents the area. The creek features a couple of wide pools. The rest of the creek is fairly narrow with slow moving water. The kids will have a great time exploring the lower acreage. This ranch is the home of children's book author Cowgirl Annie. This property is a working Ranch. Some of the campsites are in an abandoned gravel pit so you will be parking on a sandy gravel base. I like to let my guests decide where they want to park. I may have to move guests to a different site than the one they booked depending on what is happening on the ranch or the weather. There are cottonwood stands close by that you can hike through to the river. A wide variety of wildlife live in this area, so no telling what you may see or hear. You will have a big area to yourselves. I have tried to plan areas so you won't be disturbed by other campers. I do not groom hiking trails. You will be at one with nature. You may want to bring bug spray, sometimes the mosquitos and horseflies are bad. Wall Drug and the Badlands National Park are about a twenty-minute drive. Mount Rushmore is about an hour and 15 minutes.

The Retreat at Pointer’s Ridge is a sandy spot located on 21 acres overlooking the Big Sioux River just 12 miles north of Sioux Falls. Open April through November, The Retreat is a place of quiet and natural beauty intended to foster social interaction and creative pursuits between artists and community in SE South Dakota. The site is on the far edge of an artist retreat, but hipcampers can enjoy their own private area.
Look out over the river to a farm on the opposite bank. Spend your time watching for wild turkeys, geese, eagles, and an occasional deer. Or hike the river bank or gravel country roads, fish in the river, take part in any Retreat activities if available, photography opportunities, enjoy an evening campfire under the stars.
You might find any type of creative activity in our Main Hall -- a workshop, concert, poetry reading, small theatrical production, or other social gathering. Or just enjoy a quiet evening on the long Main Hall porch. We have a couple grills and an outdoor pizza oven for your special cooking needs. In addition, enjoy the Hall's complete indoor kitchen; you'll also find the bathrooms and showers here.
Other buildings on the campus include: the A-Frame which is a unique sleeping space for up to 6 people; a Woodworking Shop; Artist Studio and Rustic Cabin for stayovers; screened-in outdoor patio; playground; huge bonfire pit; and room to camp or explore.

This was my first experience with Hipcamp and couldn’t have been happier with it. Thank you, June and Dave, the camp was comfortable. Had great views. It was a good location for our Sturgis bike week. Hannah Road was nice for morning or evening strolls as there is almost no traffic on it, we backed in so we could have the truck available for rain day excursions. We did have to level off, but I believe it could be good that the pad was slanted as the rain would drain off. Nice having electric and water.(a must for my wife.) our black tank was plenty big enough to hold for the week and there is a free dump in deadwood about 15 minutes away.(they ask for a five dollar donation which I gladly gave.) I checked out the dump site the day before because I was concerned with having room to maneuver the trailer as during bike week deadwood was very busy, but there was plenty of room to maneuver at the dump site.
very convenient to go to on the way out to the highway. Nice seeing the deer walk down the hill in the morning and the chipmunks running around all day long. having use of the pavilion was also very nice.

The property is kept so beautiful and easy to access. The shower was clean and warm!! I only stayed for one night but definitely would recommend! It’s close to Mt Rushmore and is absolutely gorgeous. Garret was working non stop to keep flowers watered and lawns mowed.
The new roadhouse was really cute. I didn’t go in since I didn’t want to leave my dog in the camper after 12 hours of driving.

The camp site is really nice and far enough away from everything that it’s not noisy but close enough to all attractions. I would recommend staying in the lower sites as upper sites are not as close to the fields. The restaurant next to it has great steak bites, beers and a friendly bar tender.

We absolutely loved our time here a perfect little hidden oasis, but not far from town either. We missed the turn initially, and ended up going up the road quite a bit, which was pretty rough, so just keep your eyes out for it and use the gps pin. We can’t wait to come back!

We loved camping in our Airstream at June's. The large concrete pad, pavillion, 50amp power on either side of the pad, and a fresh water spigot were key for us to enjoy the indoor/outdoor experience. We were there over July 4th (250 birthday of America) and it was very quiet and peaceful! We did need our A/C and you do need to plan for the Black tank management.

We loved the place despite the mosquitoes. The views of the sunset were stunning. We camped by tent and it being ‘thorn’ season that was a bit inconvenient with the little thorns poking thru everything. But would love to be back at a different time or by car.
Angela was super sweet and helped us in anyway. She told us all about the ranch which the boys loved! And we explored the property as we were the only campers that night. Thanks for having us Angela!
