I wonder if when standing on the sprawling in upstate South Carolina, just a short hour trip from Greenville, Ed and Kitty Land heard a small still voice say, “if you build it, they will come.” While there isn't a baseball field on the property, that's about all that is lacking. Chattooga Belle Farm began as an event building set on acres with a small seasonal retail store. Soon people found their way to the soon-to-be full-fledged farm and they felt it; that feeling that you've found a very special place. Peaceful, majestic and unlike any other, Chattooga Belle Farm is quite possibly the perfect place for any event and most certainly an ideal place to pledge your heart and life to another.
Since the Lands opened their doors in 2010 they have come. There have been families, couples, groups, the media and fruit pickers who have all visited the farm; and they return year after year. Having been written up countless times across the southeast, US and more recently featured on The Today Show, the farm just keeps growing and getting better. With a history of growing sweet juicy apples, the soil in this part of the world has proven to be excellent for peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, and blueberries. The farm also grows exotic fruits like persimmons, paw paws, Asian pears, figs, and more!
The landscape is picturesque and the mountain views are truly breathtaking in every direction. The farm hosts farm to table dinners that sell out year after year. Their U-Pick fruit opportunities evolve throughout the season with something always coming in from early summer through fall. A list of available fruit is updated often on their website, upcoming events and information about cabin rentals on Horseshoe Lake.
The recent addition of a distillery on the farm means the fruit is grown, fermented, distilled and bottled on the farm. The distillery is open year round Monday – Saturday. ged in oak barrels and aged to produce some of the finest liquors made in these mountains.
The farm store is complete with fresh produce (in season), canned jams, jellies and bottled ciders. Grass-fed, natural, antibiotic-free Black Angus beef is sold in the store. The cattle are raised on pasture which produces some of the healthiest beef you can buy. Using only natural, humane and environmentally sustainable practices, the Lands and their staff raise beef as nature intended. Bringing the best to your family has never been easier.
Belle's Bistro at Chattooga Belle Farm serves salads, sandwiches, burgers and soups made with the freshest ingredients possible. The bistro is open for lunch Tuesday – Sunday from April – October. Their menu includes Certified South Carolina Grown food which makes for an outstanding menu, also which can be viewed on chattoogabellefarm.com.
When it comes to weddings, Chattooga Belle Farm has it all! We are trying to figure out if a family can use their own hands and some grit to handcraft a life that you don't need a vacation from. Or better yet, that you would vacation to. Have we done that? Years ago we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between the helpful aspects of the modern world and the good parts of the old, that maybe society should have held tight to. We wanted to play with this idea...while keeping it classy ;-)
At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm. You can imagine, it has been a ton of work, sacrifice and expense to create a very special camp atmosphere. Any donation to show appreciation for its use, if even for a single night, is a valuable support to our efforts.
*** Special Note: Heirloom has one full-hookup site for medium sized setups, that we use for long term month-to-month stays. Heirloom is our home, so we are judicious in determining that the guests that stay there are a good match for us and them.

Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today. Fishing and Tent Camping on a beautiful privately owned naturally spring feed 2.5 Acre pond. Pond fully stocked with Catfish, Yellow Carp, Buffalo Carp, Bass, and Brim. We do allow eating size catfish under 5lbs to be taken from lake. Large catfish and all other types of fish are catch and release only. No fishing license required. Typically caught fish weigh in at 20lbs plus. Some catfish as large as 80lbs. Enjoy peacefully fishing all night with your friends and family on a lighted fully stocked pond. Each campsite has its own fire pit so you are welcome to bring firewood and enjoy cooking out or having smores by the fire.

Too Many Oaks is a perfect mix of nice and quiet but still close to town. Also just in Synchronous fireflies, which are fireflies that gather and flash their lights at the same time as part of a mating ritual, are expected to light up the Congaree National Park in May. Check with the park for details.

I was the first person to purchase property here in 1995 in what is known as Moultrie Plantation. This is a private property community with its own private dirt road. The plantation is rich in Civil War history and people still find arrowhead 's, Civil war buttons and other Civil War related items on the dirt roads where the soldiers marched through the plantation. It is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood where owners enjoy the country life.

Years ago we left our Miami handcrafted furniture business to pursue this new goal. We set out to build an inspiring experience in simple, eco-friendly living that would find a harmony between the helpful aspects of the modern world and the good parts of the old, that maybe society should have held tight to. We wanted to play with this idea...while keeping it classy ;-)
At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cottages, using solar energy, composting organics, sewing and reaping, in a way that is fair to our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature.
Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" slow, simple living can feel. We all have personal priorities, and those will vary greatly. But within that, we can all include ways of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our neighbors.
Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, that they can appreciate our perspectives and some of our old-fashioned ways. Our presentation at Heirloom Hamlet has been purposefully designed to be a refreshing hideaway from the norm. You can imagine, it has been a ton of work, sacrifice and expense to create a very special camp atmosphere. Any donation to show appreciation for its use, if even for a single night, is a valuable support to our efforts.
*** Special Note: Heirloom has one full-hookup site for medium sized setups, that we use for long term month-to-month stays. Heirloom is our home, so we are judicious in determining that the guests that stay there are a good match for us and them.

The farm was once a portion of the McTureus Plantation. Tony's family members were once enslaved on the plantation. Upon Emancipation a family member bought land and it remained in the family. Tony is a descendant of those family members whose foresight allowed us to be here today. Tony's parents entrusted the care and preservation of the property to us and we are doing our best to be good stewards and teach the value of this property to our children and young grandchildren.

Fishing and Tent Camping on a beautiful privately owned naturally spring feed 2.5 Acre pond. Pond fully stocked with Catfish, Yellow Carp, Buffalo Carp, Bass, and Brim. We do allow eating size catfish under 5lbs to be taken from lake. Large catfish and all other types of fish are catch and release only. No fishing license required. Typically caught fish weigh in at 20lbs plus. Some catfish as large as 80lbs. Enjoy peacefully fishing all night with your friends and family on a lighted fully stocked pond. Each campsite has its own fire pit so you are welcome to bring firewood and enjoy cooking out or having smores by the fire.

Note: Due to sites being located directly on pond, some areas are 15ft deep and not recommend suitable for small children.

We are close to Columbia ( 30 minutes ) for a nice trip to the zoo or a float down the Saluda River with Adventure Carolina or a visit to Soda City Market which is Columbia’s weekly Main Street event inspired by traditional European street markets open every Saturday morning 9 a.m. –1 p.m., year-round, rain or shine!
Too Many Oaks is a perfect mix of nice and quiet but still close to town. Also just in Synchronous fireflies, which are fireflies that gather and flash their lights at the same time as part of a mating ritual, are expected to light up the Congaree National Park in May. Check with the park for details.

I was the first person to purchase property here in 1995 in what is known as Moultrie Plantation. This is a private property community with its own private dirt road. The plantation is rich in Civil War history and people still find arrowhead 's, Civil war buttons and other Civil War related items on the dirt roads where the soldiers marched through the plantation. It is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood where owners enjoy the country life.

Large site with lots of elbow room! Stargazing for days! We really enjoyed our two night stay with convenient "outhouse" close by. Next time we plan to make use of the boat ramp and kayak rentals. The staff was so helpful, friendly and responsive.

We were traveling with our 5 year old son in our truck camper and our water system wasn’t working so we stayed at Curt’s place in a simple site with a picnic table and fire ring. The sites are all close to the restroom and shower so it wasn’t very convenient. There were some camper vans and folks staying in the cabins but it was very quiet. The outdoor shower was awesome and Curt and his family have done a great job of building everything from scratch. He met us at our site and showed us how to use everything. The birds were singing and we saw lots of stars that night! Thank you Curt and family!!

We stayed 3 nights with our 2 dogs and 2 cats. No problems at all. There are a few spots by the river but stayed in an open field for more space because of our animals. The toilets are kept clean and there is a dumpster for trash. I recommend this place and would visit again. Thank you to Scott and his family for accommodating us!

The property is truly beautiful and peaceful. Lights in the trees and along the lane were definitely appreciated and so darn lovely. The rustic cabin is just that! Definitely stepping back in time, the bungalow is so unique, with a well stocked kitchen, working bathroom and a super hot shower available. Very quiet and tranquil setting, trails, and sites equipped for a campfire. Definitely recommend!

Bathroom is excellent. Hot water, shower and very clean. The site was very clean and nice. Small fire pit beside the creek. The creek is quiet and I had a beaver as a neighbor. Host was very responsive to messages. Site 2 has no one around you, which i like. The one bad thing is the road noise. If you are a light sleeper the road noise is very loud.

Craig's land along this wide and floatable creek was definitely a very sweet spot! As others have said, there was a bit of hwy 25 road noise during the night but nothing some ear buds and white noise couldn't handle. Our hosts were gracious providing quick daily check ins to make sure we were ok and not in need of anything. The clean bathroom, hot shower, rural setting and cold creek were a major plus for this Hipcamp.

Pretty site right on the Waccamaw River, quiet and peaceful at night, mostly quiet daytime, some early morning and late afternoon traffic noise from a nearby main road (and some interesting early morning farm animal sounds) but nothing disturbing. Nice, level areas for pitching a tent. If you have a dog, you must keep it at the back of the property where you pitch camp so as not to disturb the farm animals, and there are woods you can walk in, my little dog loved exploring!

Absolutely gorgeous and laid back with plenty of room to explore!! Perfect for having kids that like to be outside and our dog is in heaven.
The swimming is wonderful, and the birds are so beautiful and chatty. Right now the butterflies and hummingbirds are coming through and showing off with other migrating birds and the bees are very busy in the wild red clover and honeysuckle and going to the on site beekeeper station! The views no matter what direction are breathtaking. If you are a lover of camping like we are, welcome to your new favorite sanctuary!

This was our first hip camp today and it far exceeded expectations! We got in late after dark and the host was there waiting for us. He explained exactly how to get to the site as well as what else was available there. The cookies were there waiting for us. They told us there’s hiking trails and they leave the nights on all night, long on the hiking trails so you can go whenever you want. There is an old sailboat in the woods that the kids climb on there were some rope swings. There was a giant field they could run and play. There were other campers there, but the sites are separated by a pretty good distance and you never saw anyone else. I have a lot of kids and I’m sure they were super noisy, but nobody complained. The kids said it was their favorite place they camped out so far!

Our lakeside field site (left of the dock) was roomy, but some sites might feel tight if you don’t choose carefully. Having a winery, distillery, and food all within a short on‑property “hike” is a fantastic bonus

I really enjoyed this spot by the river! The perfect amount of space for our tent, a campfire, a charcoal grill, and a small SUV. One site could easily fit 2 more tents and maybe 2-3 cars.
We absolutely loved being right on the river. Casted the fly rod most of the time, but I think it was too early in the season for trout. Still, my husband and I plan to come back!
The campsites are all spaced out nicely—2 are directly on the river: one behind where we stayed, and another to the right. You could easily have a bunch of friends and family all stay together if you booked them together.
Also, those 3 sites share a well-kept outhouse.
Fortunately, we were the only ones there at the time, so we got to explore the river’s edge and check out the other sites. Can’t wait to book again!

My boyfriend and I really loved this spot, the area has more privacy than going camping on public parks for a weekend. Our host, Stephanie was great! She made sure that everyone is having a good time, and maintaining the area clean and fresh. It became one of our best spots in Greenville, I highly recommend!
