All while keeping it classy. At Heirloom Hamlet, you will see us designing unique, functional cabins, installing solar, composting, planting, and building toilets that are better for our environment. We're bread baking, pasta making, timber milling, woodworking, clay-forming and metal pounding. The goal is to evolve into a small world of self-reliance and harmony with nature. Ani and I are big believers in being mindful and respectful of our environment wherever reasonable. So, we are incorporating both alternative and municipal utilities as they can fit into our homestead design and limited budget. Through good design, our goal is to show just how "normal" small living can feel. We all have personal priorities and those will vary greatly, and that's okay. But no person should be so self-absorbed that we have completely shut out the importance of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our fellowman. After all, if we don't have that, what do we have? To be completely transparent, though, the creatives in us also would like it if we inspired onlookers to possibly look at their own space and life a little bit differently. We've personally found it to be so fulfilling to distinguish real desires and needs from the ones we've been groomed to pursue, and then work to make them a reality. We've found it energizing to witness our fellowmen and women pursuing a dream. We'd like to be a stimulating memory along any person's journey. Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, and that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways. That, as our paths cross, we won't be held to a business-first standard that we have worked hard to remove ourselves from. Chattooga Belle Farm began as an event building set on acres with a small seasonal retail store. Soon people found their way to the soon-to-be full-fledged farm and they felt it; that feeling that you've found a very special place. Peaceful, majestic and unlike any other, Chattooga Belle Farm is quite possibly the perfect place for any event and most certainly an ideal place to pledge your heart and life to another. Since the Lands opened their doors in 2010 they have come. There have been families, couples, groups, the media and fruit pickers who have all visited the farm; and they return year after year. Having been written up countless times across the southeast, US and more recently featured on The Today Show, the farm just keeps growing and getting better. With a history of growing sweet juicy apples, the soil in this part of the world has proven to be excellent for peaches, muscadines, scuppernongs, and blueberries. The farm also grows exotic fruits like persimmons, paw paws, Asian pears, figs, and more! The landscape is picturesque and the mountain views are truly breathtaking in every direction. The farm hosts farm to table dinners that sell out year after year. Their U-Pick fruit opportunities evolve throughout the season with something always coming in from early summer through fall. A list of available fruit is updated often on their website, upcoming events and information about cabin rentals on Horseshoe Lake. The recent addition of a distillery on the farm means the fruit is grown, fermented, distilled and bottled on the farm. I spent a few days here in early December and just extended for the next month. It’s a charming, rural spot with full amenities at all sites, bathrooms including showers, washer and dryer. Pet friendly with trails to take my dog for a walk. Will and Lorie have been exceptionally kind and welcoming and came to check on me during a recent cold spell. Very safe and private. There’s a nearby mobile rv technician, Mike the RV Medic who helped me repair my furnace and was very professional. Very reasonable rates for everything being offered. I highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Too Many Oaks Plantation

Three of us stayed for two below-freezing but delightful November nights at Too Many Oaks (site 1). Our goal was privacy and being in nature, and this location is definitely that! We were the only campers there at the time, but I think it would have been reasonably private even if the other site was also taken. Mike kindly allowed us to use his bathroom and kitchen, which are rustic but way better than washing dishes outside when it’s 29F! He also had plenty of wood for our camp fire. The sky was super dark even with a bright moon, and the stars were spectacular. The location was about a 40 minute pleasant drive through pines and cotton fields to Congaree National Park. Google Maps tried to navigate us directly to the property off Rt 26. Doesn’t work! Make sure you get the full address - HipCamp didn’t provide it to us. Mike was very fast with responses when we reached out for a last minute booking and then afterward for the address. If we drive from Philly to Florida again, we’ll definitely stay here!

Weekend Trip to Forest & Farm Camping Retreat

The cozy cabin on wheels was the perfect spot for a Thanksgiving weekend camping trip with my son and dog. The cabinet itself was adorable and you could tell a lot of thought was put into the amenities. Even though it froze while we were there, we were snug as a bug in our little cabin. I loved that my dog could be off leash and play with the host’s dog and cat as well. Although the house was not far, we felt we had all the privacy we needed. Our host was just a message away from answering any questions we may have had and gave lots of local recommendations. We will definitely be back!

1 night at Lucky Farms Under the Stars

I had such an amazing experience car camping at Lucky Farms. This was my very first time camping and this was a great start to my camping adventures. Taylor and Marty were fantastic hosts and so gracious. I felt safe and comfortable here so I was able to get a good nights rest. If you love stargazing (like me) you will love this place with beautiful views of the moon, stars, and sunset/rise. This is the perfect place for campers traveling solo or as a couple/family. My dog loved the open field, but I arrived a bit later than I intended and I didn’t get a chance to explore the trails and other amenities, so I will be booking another stay here with my dog in the future. I would definitely recommend Lucky Farms to any camper looking for a great place to camp. :)

We wished we got there a bit earlier to explore more. This is Lia I am 9 years old it was the first time I experienced a compost toilet and I thought it was good for the environment it was a bit challenging to use at first but when you get used to it it’s awesome. In the morning I got to spilt wood in half with a hatchet ! Kurt our host was super nice, very knowledgeable and did an amazing job at building his homestead. my seven-year-old brother did not want to get out of the outdoor shower because it was amazingly hot. We had an outstanding experience.

Weekend Trip to Friendly Fowl Farm

My family stayed two nights at the magnolia site. The site was clean and tent safe, we didn't need a tarp to protect the bottom from small brush or rocks. There was a nice camping toilet that was clean and right on site. Only interacted with host to buy eggs for breakfast but that was our choice, the host was friendly and I'm sure wouldn't mind more interaction if a camper needed it. Love the fact that they are a small farm providing non commercial goods to their community. We felt safe and secure in this site. Remember that this is a working farm and there will be farm noises. Thank you for hosting us.

Weekend Trip to Hanscombe Point Plantation

The location on Google maps is accurate, but to find the last stretch you have to offroad a bit. RAV4s can get in all day, but I'd be worried about sportier sedans. The 5 sites are pretty much next to each other in a forested area. Has an outhouse (vault toilet) and a porta potty. They also have firewood for sale on site which is nice. Overall pretty bare-bones for a campsite but gets the job done and location is great!

2 nights at Broken Oak Riverside Getaway

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in campsite 1. We loved sitting by the fire overlooking the creek. The camp store was stocked with firewood and had a coffee pot for our use, which was very nice. Even though a highway was close, the traffic noise was never a concern. It was quiet at night. Craig was a nice host, and very helpful. We would love to camp there again.

Nice toilet and shower, very clean and host was kind! I was in park 4 which is same price as the other sites but was relatively smaller than the rest, but secluded more than the other spots if you want more privacy
