This is not Alaska, but it is not a KOA campground, either. We recommend you print of bring a paper map. Your GPS will not bring you to the exact driveway location. You need to be personally observant.
This is the top of a mountain ridge. The access lane is steep, rocky, and has water erosion ditches you must drive over. Do not attempt this if you have a low profile car or a new/fragile camper. 4WD/AWD is highly recommended. Low profile and fancy cars are not recommended. This camping site is for those who want to live ruggedly like Lewis Clark. To see the water ditches you must drive over, go to YouTube and search "Wilbur's Shed - Blairs Mills", and it is the account of a cat with a white face.
This location is in a mix of farmland and mountain Appalachia. You will see common species such as chipmunks, squirrels turkey and deer. Many bird species. There are also porcupines, skunks, and black snakes around. You may also see black bear - it is rare, but possible. You are visiting wildlife species in their natural habitat. Please be self-aware of your own level comfort with wildlife. Once again, this is not an RVs park where you will socialize with a hundred other campers. This is primitive and isolated. This is an ideal camping spot if you want to escape from people.
Nearby is the Tuscarora Creek which is excellent for trout fishing. The Tuscarora has a small but lovely window for kayaking from mid-March through the end of May. Please contact the host if you would like help to plan some paddle logistics.
Rental through Hipcamp does not include hunting or the use of firearms, nor the use of dirt bikes and ATVs.

My stay at Wilbur's Shed was excellent. The property is nicely secluded with beautiful open fields, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy some peace and quiet. The site has all the amenities needed for a comfortable camping experience, including water, tools, chairs, electricity, and even portable restrooms on site. One of the highlights was being able to sit outside at night and enjoy the incredible view of the stars with very little light pollution. It's an ideal spot for anyone looking to camp, unwind, and spend time alone in nature. Wilbur was a great host, and I would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for a unique and comfortable camping getaway.

Tamara‘s land was a unique experience full of beauty! It was like staying at a museum., Tamara was a wonderful host, full of knowledge of the area. The location was perfect for resupplying hikers on the Appalachian Trail which it was our main reason for visiting. But we also loved relaxing under the shade of the trees, listening to the birds and surrounded by beautiful fields! It was a wonderful relaxing vacation!

Truly a magical experience! Every nook and cranny of this property was delightfully thought out for maximum pleasure and esthetics. Sherie & Rob were the most accommodating and friendly hosts.
The uber-clean single bathhouse, affectionately called the "hippie shower" by Sherie, made me feel like I was in a day spa. All shower products were provided, as well as dishwashing liquid. I joked with Hubby about extending our stay, but he immediately caught on that I just wanted to take more showers there rather than use our cramped teardrop shower. 🤭
We were in the area for my Juniata College reunion; a friend stayed in one of the rooms, while Hubby & I camped in Site 3, which was the most private of the campsites, while still close to the shared deck for campers overlooking the river.
We saw countless species of birds on our 6 days here, but the most fascinating were the birds feeding on the wing. A starling was nesting in the bathhouse, which only added to its charm.
We rented their kayaks with the intention of paddling upstream and float back, but the current was pretty strong -- next time, we'll opt for their shuttle so we only have to float back!
And yes, there will be a next time -- We will definitely camp here the next time we're back in the area!

Camping on Amy and Russ's land was, I was going to say like being at home, but it's way better than home. They have such a lovely spot 😍! The grass is so nice to walk barefoot through. There's plenty of room to relax in peace and quiet. Amy and Russ go out of their way to be helpful if they can with anything you may need. I can't tell you how much they helped with advice and a water heater install! And the other residents of the property are Bonnie and Kevin and they are also very nice and helpful. I'll be back without a doubt. I almost feel like part of the family.

Absolutely beautiful peaceful meadow/farm. We had no problem getting our 42' fifthwheel in and out. Property was very clean, mowed and well maintained. Firewood was waiting for us when we arrived plentiful and stored in a large storage box to keep it dry. Host was very friendly, helpful and welcoming without being intrusive. Bill is a wealth of knowledge on many topics. We enjoyed talking racing and tractors with him. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and large mature trees to provide shade. The donuts that are offered are delicious 😋 We chose instead of having delivered to go pick them up at nearby Emingee's where we met Bill's sister Melanie who was a delight. They also have many varieties of ice-cream made in house which we intended to go back for but we ran out of time. We'll be sure to get some next time though. We already have our next visit booked and I'm sure we'll be back for plenty more weekend adventures. Thank you so very much Bill and Melanie we look forward to seeing yall again soon!

Incredible hosts and an absolutely perfect group campsite!
Our group had an amazing stay here, entirely thanks to how hospitable and accommodating the hosts were. From the very start, communication was outstanding—they were incredibly friendly and responsive through messages over the Hipcamp app, answering all of our questions right away.
We originally reserved a different spot on the property, but as our trip approached, our group size grew. I reached out to the hosts to explain that we wanted to set up a true "base camp" style layout—with all of our camping vehicles circled around a central campfire and communal area. They immediately offered to show us an alternate site on their land that ended up being absolutely perfect for our setup.
What really set this experience apart was their genuine hospitality. On our first night, the host came out to give a warm introduction to the smaller crew that had arrived early. But on the second night, once the rest of our full party rolled in, the host took the time to come back out to meet me and introduce themselves to everyone else. It gave the whole weekend an even warmer, incredibly welcoming feel.
They made the entire stay seamless, checked in to ensure we had everything we needed, and truly helped make our trip a success. If you're looking for great land managed by stellar people who genuinely care about their campers' experience, this is the place. We will definitely be back!

Amy and Russ are wonderful hosts. They go out of their way to make sure you've been well taken care of.
They have enough knowledge and know-how to help you with just about anything for your rig. They have the ability to empty your tanks for you even!
Lots of grass and birds make it so pleasant to just enjoy sitting outside. My dog so much enjoyed being able to roll in the grass and going for walks.
The water pressure is not good 😐. But! I fill my tank and that does work well!
Reception can be kind of spotty? Which doesn't bother me much because I don't choose to be connected quite so much...

Candice and Aaron were amazing hosts and their property was beautiful and well kept. Set on a serene pasture of land in the middle of several shade trees, a pond and a bubbling brook, we awoke in the morning to birdsong and the cockadoodle doo of their rooster. Their playful dairy cows were a peaceful presence too. Both Candice and Aaron could not have been more accomodating! Highly recommend!

This is a nice quiet property with a sunset view. Mine was a quick stay and I slept in my vehicle. Little tough to find a level spot but it worked. At dusk, a small herd of deer floated like dark ghosts as they silently grazed across the field. Lovely!

We absolutely loved our stay here and are already planning our next trip back! The owners are incredibly nice and welcoming, and their property is absolutely beautiful. The campsite itself is massive, giving us plenty of options for our setup.
A few quick things for future campers to keep in mind to make your stay perfect:
Privacy: The site isn't fully secluded; you can still see the owners' house from the setup area.
Camp Comforts: The picnic bench was a bit muddy when we arrived, so I highly recommend bringing a tablecloth and bench covers. The porta-potty also needed a quick scrub before we felt comfortable using it.
Nature's Soundtrack: There is a pond and stream right next to the site. It’s lovely, but be aware that the local bullfrogs sing all day and all night, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper!
Bonus Hike: Be sure to ask the owners for trail recommendations! They pointed us toward a quick hike close to the property that led to a beautiful waterfall, which was a highlight of our trip.
Despite the minor cleanup (which is normal with most campsites!) we highly recommend

If you love the open air and quiet camping spots, then you’ll love this place. Especially for celestial events. Soft ground to sleep on and well manicured grass, that really helped keep the bugs away. I will def be back.

Excellent easy camping!
Hands down the best spot is #11 if you want to be separated from the other spots. Though all of them are very well spaced for privacy!
Took my sister on her first camping trip here.
Bonus: Mulehalla has a bunch of games and throwables at the main cabin, so you definitely won’t find yourself bored with any spare downtime.
