Elmlock was named by MJ's Grandfather for the majestic Elm trees that once graced the property and banks of the Tulpehocken Stream passing through the Union Canal lock. These beautiful trees were devastated by the Dutch Elm Disease in the early 20th century.
Elmlock and the surrounding area was surveyed by non other than George Washington as plans were formulating to build a canal system to join the Schuylkill and Susquehanna Rivers.
The General stayed with his friend Captain Michael Lei on the adjacent farm, once known as the Tulpehocken Manor when visiting the area. The ruins of one of the canal locks remains on the Elmlock property adjacent to the camping area.
The 1838 stone farmhouse was built by the Spengler family and acquired by MJ's Grandfather in 1913. MJ's pottery studio is a local "Town Barn" that was relocated piece by piece to Elmlock by MJ"s brother, a Historic Restoration Specialist, in 1974. He also restored the Bake Oven on the property's Summer Kitchen.
Our property features an historic canal lock from 1828 Union Canal and a stream that runs through it.
There is a RR track that runs just south of our camp about 10acres away For campers who love to watch or hear trains you'll have plenty of opportunity to do so!
You can enjoy fishing and playing in the water, which is fresh, clean limestone water from a nearby quarry. We also have two small goats on the property. Farm land surrounds the property, wooded area and cattle nearby. This is a secluded property but less than a mile from Rt 422. You can bike along the many back roads nearby!
We also offer pottery classes, drawing classes, painting classes, and also Medicinal wild plants walk etc. for an additional fee. See our extras below if you are interested!
Historic places to visit and only 20 miles from HersheyPark. Also we are only 15-20 min from the Historic Appalachian Trail! And Blue Marsh Recreational park

We are an active dairy farm in the rolling hills of Berks County, Pennsylvania. We take awesome sunrises and great star gazing for granted around here! Campsites are a 10-minute walk from the farm where all are welcome to interact with the animals or take a try at milking a cow. After all, you need milk and cream for breakfast!Its a ten minute drive to Blue Marsh Lake for Fishing, Biking, Hiking and Swimming. In 1990, Scott and Sue Miller purchased a 16-acre farm in Elizabethtown, Pa with the intentions of starting a select cut Christmas tree farm. 15,000 trees were purchased and planted on the farm. The camp sites on our farm are dry (for now) but we DO have a toilet that is cleaned regularly right by the sites. We have three leveled gravel RV/Camper spots, which are large compared to most campgrounds. The sites are pull through for most RVs and Trailers. We provide fire rings but no wood. Our farm is an operational farm with livestock and you will be camping right by our horse pasture. Our location is convenient. We are right off of I-81 and State route 22. Minutes from Hersheypark, Hollywood Casino and Penn National Race Course, The PA Renaissance Faire, as well as Ft. Indiantown Gap and Memorial Lake State Park. If you are a hiker, the Appalachian Trail is minutes from our farm. Our sites are easy access off the main road. The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. Hershey Park is approximately a 30-minute drive from our location. Rausch Creek, Anthracite, and Reading off-road areas are also nearby.

Pitch your tent along Irish Creek under a canopy of Maples at Mystic Hollow. Irish Creek stream is a tributary to the Schuylkill River. The land is mostly flat for walking to camping area. Fire rings are included. I can haul your gear to your spot with tractor and wagon if needed. There is a port-a-potty close by. If you have your own portapotty, you must take the waste with you. We have no way to dispose of human waste. Absolutely no disposing of human waste on the property or in the trash. There will be a fine. At this time, I do not have fresh water, shower or electric. I have an extension cord for charging phones, etc...
We are flexible with check-in and check-out times if we are not at full capacity. Just let us know ahead of time. We allow dogs. They must be on leashes unless they are friendly and play well with others. You must clean up your dog's poop! No exceptions! We are 5 minutes from the Schuylkill River. 10 minutes from Ontelaunee Lake. 15 minutes from Blue Marsh. 15 minutes from the Appalacian Trail. Trail heads nearby Port Clinton, Hamburg, Bernville, Bethel, Blue Rocks, Kempton... 20 minutes from Hawk Mountain. We are an hour from Jim Thorpe. There are several wineries in the area including Long Trout Winery where wine is cool and hippy chicks rule! My favorite! Lots of wildlife. Expect to hear owls, blue heron, cows, goats, chickens, hawks, eagles, dogs, racoons and coyotes. Racoons will steal food that is not put away or in coolers. Deer may walk past in the middle of the night. Hiking, kayaking, tubing, fishing, mountain biking, bike trails, etc... all nearby. Sadly there are no fish in Irish Creek worth catching. The Crayfish are!
As with any land situated along a water source, there is always a possibility of flooding. We flood maybe once a year, once every other year. If that should happen, we will assist in hauling gear. There is higher ground for tents to be set up if need be. There will also be rooms available to rent in the near future.

Secluded River View is a flat grassy space on the banks of the Conestoga River ideal for tent camping. Guests will enjoy 0.4 acre of grass to themselves surrounded by a creek, river and woods.
The site includes a fire ring, picnic table, hammock overlooking the river and swing for kids. A natural sandbar in the river provides a fun place for children to play, and explore (and throw rocks into the river as every kid seems to love to do). The river is normally slow enough to paddleboard, canoe, or kayak. Tubing is popular and there are several places that you can drive to and access upstream and float back to your campsite. Common fish species for fishing include bass, catfish and carp. It’s the perfect place to unplug and reconnect with nature!

Absolutely amazing campsite experience. When you arrive, you park and may meet the hosts—we met the wife, and she was incredibly sweet. She even explained that the solar-powered lights turn on once the sun goes down (which provided the perfect lighting—neither too bright nor too dark).
We loaded our belongings into a provided wagon and later made another trip for firewood. We paid for the $5 bundle, but there were no strict limits, which was really generous.
After a short walk down a gentle hill, you’re greeted by your campsite: a tent already set up, a treehouse-style tent, and the cutest outdoor area with a table for eating and comfortable chairs. The fire pit is amazing and sits right next to the water.
We cooked bagels over the fire in the morning and made dinner over it as well—such a perfect setup for a cozy getaway.
If you have a group of four, you could rent both treehouses. There’s enough privacy if you don’t know the other guests, but it’s also close enough to go as a group.
I can’t wait to go back when it gets warmer to use the swimming hole and explore the beautiful creek. The goats roam freely but mostly keep to themselves—we approached them and they were incredibly sweet.
Overall, the cutest little getaway.

The small cabin I stayed at was very nice and simple. I loved bird song in the mornings and transparent side of the roof. The site is secluded and easy to find at the same time. There was a plenty of fire wood outside and blankets inside so nights in thirties were quite manageable and even enjoyable. And don’t miss the opportunity to get breakfast if it gets offered to you, it was outstanding experience for small additional fee.

Bill and Erin are excellent hosts who really make you feel welcome. The location is facing the goats and cows, who are curious and friendly. You get a great view of their antics from the fireplace area outside. The other side of the RV faces empty fields and full of wildflowers and little groves of trees. It was so peaceful.
The RV was perfect for my three person family, but there was definitely enough sleeping space for more wirh rhe queen sized bed, bunk beds, and surprisingly comfortable couch. While located close to the hanger and the bathroom shared by all campers, the RV has its own bathroom with a little shower. There's a full kitchen, a grill under the storage compartment, and a full gas grill separate from the structure.
I would definitely stay again.

We loved staying at Romeo Acres and would stay again! It is very peaceful and private. As pictured. We only had time for a single night away, but our dog loved a romp in the cow pasture and we had space to play Frisbee, cook over the fire, set up a hammock, and the tent pad was more than enough space for our large tent! 😊

This site was awesome! Gorgeous canal with rushing water, nice firepits, and she even allowed us to jump on her trampoline! the cows are adorable and it was altogether an amazing experience. It is someone near a main road and the railroad but that did not bother us, it still felt very private.

This site is wonderful, we’re already planning our next visit. The site sits at the end of a long, gated driveway past David’s home. It was secluded, with an open, fenced field for our toddler to run freely in. The toilet was clean and stocked with toilet paper and the site sat on mulch, which helped for a smooth sleeping surface. There’s also cold, clean well water available closer to David’s garage. You’ll hear their shop running, but it wasn’t disruptive. David and his family were very kind and accommodating.

We absolutely loved camping here! Susan and Jen were very helpful and welcoming. Check in was super easy and flawless. Fortunately, we had the entire property to ourselves. But even if we didn’t the sites were far from each other and super private. This place is a hidden gem and I highly recommend it.
