Weekend Trip to Wilbur's Shed

As I was sitting around the fire with my wife I told her I would leave a bad review only to keep this a best kept secret. This spot is amazing, the simple fact of being away from everyone and everything is wonderful. Having our two dogs and kids both be able to run free without any worries of nearby campers or stranger and busy roads brings a whole level of stress relief that people with dogs and kids can truly appreciate while camping here. The amenities that are on site are very nice from power hookups to a portajohn, along with other small items such as cooking forks and potable water in jugs really assist in making camp easy. For those who are nervous about the drive into the site I’ll say this follow the mile markers from the major intersections and it will put you just about on par with the driveway. The drive up to the site has a couple small washouts that anyone in a modest clearance vehicle can traverse, and no I don’t mean corvettes or lowered vehicles you will be in trouble. But is like to think with some basic skill, a stock sedan could make it up there and suv/truck no problem. I will definitely be planning on coming back again and maybe for a longer trip with friends hopefully after such a great experience.

Weekend Trip to Mother Earth Organic Farm

Our time at Mother Earth's Organic Farm was perfect in so many ways!!! Mehra and Adrian are the warmest, most welcoming, amazing hosts! Their land is so beautiful and we felt privileged to share it with them for a few days. Private. Minimal cell service. Tidy. We fed their goats and saw the neighbor's cows grazing throughout our stay. We encountered some pretty intense weather (rain and wind) the weekend we visited. Mehra and Adrian responded with such care and empathy when the winds destroyed our canopy. Despite that setback, our time there was so restorative. We got lots of sunshine, we stargazed, and we cooked over the campfire. Truly magical! Many thanks to Mehra and Adrian!

Weekend Trip to Spyglass Ridge Winery

Place is laid back and relaxed. Tom is very friendly and personable. We stayed down by the pond which had full electric. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was excellent as was the wine. We would definitely return.

Weekend Trip to Pinnacle Orchard

Wonderful place. The owners communicated very well which made arriving and understanding the area very easy. We all had a lovely time and will be coming back again.

3 nights at Fiddlers Green Farm

We had an awesome time. We stayed on the bear creek side and it was better then we thought. Very clean and plenty of wood. The owner treated us to an unexpected "bonfire". Lol.. lol. We were able to relax near the creek and set up the tents just 20 ft from the creeks edge. Hopper(the dog) was cool too, he checked on us a few times. The owner was great, very responsive, very laid back, very cool. We will definitely book again. And most importantly, the bathroom was super clean and toilet paper and wet wipes stocked.

Weekend Trip to Circle S Farm Camping

We love this spot for a stop on our roadtrips. The view of the sky, waving grass, and horse are beautiful. It is conveniently located but still quiet. The port-a-potty is super clean.

Treehouse is cozy even when it’s way below freezing! Come enjoy!!

Weekend Trip to Fairview Farms Airfield

I never wanted to leave the Treehouse! I was actually surprised at how comfortable and cozy it was! I booked this weekend getaway to decompress and refill my cup. I certainly chose the right place to do those things! The property is absolutely gorgeous and very well cared for! As are all of the incredible animals! The views are spectacular, no matter where you look! The farm is in close proximity to gas stations, stores, restuarants and many different activities, but you really don't even need to leave the farm to have a great time! Thank you for a magnificent stay! Can't wait to return!

The perfect place to get away from everything for a few days. Its close enough to everything to get last minute items, and yet private enough to feel cozy and safe. I love this place and will be back again!

1 night at Fairview Farms Airfield

The loft bed was a little tricky to get in and out of as an adult, but it was comfortable once up there and I was able to sit up without hitting my head on the roof. The twinkle lights were a nice touch! Warm with the afternoon sun but cooled off nicely for sleeping (end of April). Very cool property!

This spot definitely exceeded expectation. The view is ridiculous...pictures just don't do it justice. Pavilion access allowed for very nice facilities as well as baseball and basketball for the kids. Fishing at Fort Halifax was easily doable and Lake Tobias is just down the road. We certainly plan on a return visit down the road

1 night at Spyglass Ridge Winery

I love being able to enjoy some local wine and not worry about driving home. Walking out of Thomas’ gorgeous restaurant/winery and into my tent was exactly what I wanted. We stayed on the site at the lower end of the property next to the pond. It was quiet and private. Locals do show up to fish in the morning but that wasn’t a bother at all. One of the porta potties was open but it doesn’t seem to be on the service schedule. That’s my only “complaint” since the main Hipcamp page says toilets not available, but then each site booking page says toilets are available. An easy detail to miss. The men’s bathroom in the winery was nice though, but of course only available when they’re open. For self-contained travelers, this spot is a must!

Perfect, peaceful spot to spend the night (or longer). Kathy was friendly and made sure to check in to see if we needed anything. Absolutely lovely setting, would definitely stay here again!

3 nights at Wilbur's Shed

Great spot to get away from everything with amazing views. It’s a dogs paradise! I did see deer the first two days in the lower part of the field. The last night at dusk, I heard several turkeys but didn’t see them. There’s a swing that would be perfect for morning sunrise and coffee. The host is very kind and readily available. Can’t wait to go back.

The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. We appreciate your understanding that some areas are used for our personal / farm storage. If you're not into looking at our farmware, there are a few nearby campgrounds. The hot tub is located next to the owner's home. Guests are welcome to use this at any time but must reserve and pay for a time slot. * Book this through the Extras * We are within walking distance of Swatara State Park and close to the Appalachian Trail. Short drive to the local winery, bowling alley, pub/diner, and movie theater. Grocery stores and gas are also nearby. Miles of hiking, rail trail, single-track mountain biking, and kayaking are all right here! See our kayak and bike rentals under extras! Hershey Park is approximately a 30-minute drive from our location. Rausch Creek, Anthracite, and Reading off-road areas are also nearby. Note: Monthly rental discounts are available. Welcome to our fifth generation, mini-valley, woodland, and rolling hills. Empty Cupboard Farm has been family owned since 1918. It is presently planted in soy and corn. Wildlife abounds, including deer, small mammals, and geese. Bald eagles and Heron even take a pond dip periodically. Woodland trails are accessible and new tree plantings can be observed. We welcome RVs under 30'. It will be too hilly for anything longer. (Be aware: inclement weather is not your friend here if your vehicle can't handle potentially slippery conditions.) Enjoy the following activities: Mountain biking, pedal onlyPond fishing. (Sorry, no swimming in the pond; but an "An open to the public", private pool is 13 miles/20min. As is the Y. Lawn games and a fire pit are available. So are the stars at night; cloud permitting. Consider the free star gazing app, SkyView Lite, even in the day and under clouds. Don't miss our stunning sunsets at the "Red Door," our entrance. Historical towns within 10 miles any direction are reached over rolling countryside. Gettysburg is less than 20 miles. Baltimore is less than an hours ride by open highway. Blue Ridge mountains 18 miles. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard. Additional things to see: Boating in Carroll County Maryland. Local wineries Ski Liberty Carroll is a full service county whatever your needs. Circle S Farm Camping

The camp sites on our farm are dry (for now) but we DO have a toilet that is cleaned regularly right by the sites. We have three leveled gravel RV/Camper spots, which are large compared to most campgrounds. The sites are pull through for most RVs and Trailers. We provide fire rings and campfire wood (assuming we have it available). Our farm is an operational farm with livestock and you will be camping right by our horse pasture. Our location is convenient. We are right off of I-81 and State route 22. Minutes from Hersheypark, Hollywood Casino and Penn National Race Course, The PA Renaissance Faire, as well as Ft. Indiantown Gap and Memorial Lake State Park. If you are a hiker, the Appalachian Trail is minutes from our farm. Our sites are easy access off the main road. We are in a friendly agricultural neighborhood with very little traffic or noise other than the light hum of I-81 in the distance. Wildlife is plentiful in our area and you can hike from our farm to Levitz Community Park (or drive if you prefer) to interact some great nature or have a picnic. Wilbur's Shed

Let your children and dogs roam free without a leash. This property is remote and private. There are no neighbors nearby. This location is; twenty minutes north of I-76 Turnpike Willow Hill Exit forty-five minutes from Raystown Lake one hour and thirty minutes north of Gettysburg one hour and thirty minutes south of PSU three hours east of Pittsburgh three hours west of Philadelphia five hours west of NYC There is some cell service, but it is limited. Can you hear me now? Be sure to save site information on your phone before you leave, in case you lose cell-service. This is not Alaska, but it is not a KOA campground, either. We recommend you print of bring a paper map. Your GPS will not bring you to the exact driveway location. You need to be personally observant. This is the top of a mountain ridge. The access lane is steep, rocky, and has water erosion ditches you must drive over. Do not attempt this if you have a low profile car or a new/fragile camper. 4WD/AWD is highly recommended. Low profile and fancy cars are not recommended. This is not Alaska, but it is not a paved KOA campground, either. This camping site is for those who want to live ruggedly like Lewis Clark. It is NOT for those who like their campground to be like The Villages of Florida where everything is flat, paved over, and you drive golf carts. This location is in a mix of farmland and mountain Appalachia. You will see common species such as chipmunks, squirrels turkey and deer. Many bird species. There are also porcupines, skunks, and black snakes around. You may also see black bear - it is rare, but possible. You are visiting wildlife species in their natural habitat. Please be self-aware of your own level comfort with wildlife. Once again, this is not an RVs park where you will socialize with a hundred other campers. This is primitive and isolated. This is an ideal camping spot if you want to escape from people. Nearby is the Tuscarora Creek which is excellent for trout fishing. The Tuscarora has a small but lovely window for kayaking from mid-March through the end of May. Please contact the host if you would like help to plan some paddle logistics.
