Sleep like a log in our one-room charming cabin on a small private lake lot with non-motor boats only.
Little Elk Lake is 43 acres.
Queen bed with linens provided, plus 2 adult cots with pads and sleeping bags.
Rowboat plus 1 youth kayak, two adult kayaks and a canoe are available for your use, and we have life jackets in many sizes.
We are sorry but the pontoon boat cannot be used by guests. The fishing is EXCELLENT and bring your binoculars - BALD EAGLES frequent the lake!
We want you to have so much FUN during your visit, but we are not a party spot.
The lake is rural and quiet, and so we must request low noise levels after 10 pm in order to keep our neighborhood HAPPY!

The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. The Season House, one of the two foreman homes, features additional guest accommodations while Doug resides in the other foreman house. Visit and experience a piece of PA history! Although our check-in process is generally to go straight to camp, if we're onsite, we do offer the option of a meet and greet. If you forget something and we're on-site, let us know--we might just be able to help!
For Holidays and Special Events, we do require a 2-night minimum stay, there will be a cost of $20 for each additional Hipcamper and we operate under a SUPER STRICT Cancellation policy.
For non-Holiday/Special Event weekdays, we offer a 20% discount.
We limit to what we believe suitable the number of Hipcampers at each of our campsites. If, however, you are interested in adding to the limit, please feel free to contact us beforehand.

The campsite is a short walk downhill from where you park (please refer to the short video provided, when booked, for more information) and it is remote. Each site is outfitted with a Big Horn 47" Wood Burning Ranch Fire Pit (with grill grate), a picnic table and the potential for an outside adventure. Bounded on one side by an escarpment and on the other side a mountain, this campsite is irrevocably secluded--and has been voted the #1 Hipcamp site in PA and in the nation--as evidenced by the nearly perfect positive reviews from those adventurers who have stayed here.....and our many repeat Hipcampers.

This cabin has been in my family for over 40 years, and we love to share it's charm with the world!
Sleep like a log in our one-room charming cabin on a small private lake lot with non-motor boats only.
Little Elk Lake is 43 acres.
Queen bed with linens provided, plus 2 adult cots with pads and sleeping bags.
Rowboat plus 1 youth kayak, two adult kayaks and a canoe are available for your use, and we have life jackets in many sizes.
We are sorry but the pontoon boat cannot be used by guests. The fishing is EXCELLENT and bring your binoculars - BALD EAGLES frequent the lake!
We want you to have so much FUN during your visit, but we are not a party spot.
The lake is rural and quiet, and so we must request low noise levels after 10 pm in order to keep our neighborhood HAPPY!

The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. Although our check-in process is generally to go straight to camp, if we're onsite, we do offer the option of a meet and greet. If you forget something and we're on-site, let us know--we might just be able to help!
For Holidays and Special Events, we do require a 2-night minimum stay, there will be a cost of $20 for each additional Hipcamper and we operate under a SUPER STRICT Cancellation policy.
For non-Holiday/Special Event weekdays, we offer a 20% discount.
We limit to what we believe suitable the number of Hipcampers at each of our campsites. If, however, you are interested in adding to the limit, please feel free to contact us beforehand.

This is our original campsite--which began our Oh! Pear camping legacy. The campsite is a short walk downhill from where you park (please refer to the short video provided, when booked, for more information) and it is remote. Rugged, majestic, and serene sites (3) are spatially set alongside the picturesque stream. Each site is outfitted with a Big Horn 47" Wood Burning Ranch Fire Pit (with grill grate), a picnic table and the potential for an outside adventure. Bounded on one side by an escarpment and on the other side a mountain, this campsite is irrevocably secluded--and has been voted the #1 Hipcamp site in PA and in the nation--as evidenced by the nearly perfect positive reviews from those adventurers who have stayed here.....and our many repeat Hipcampers.

This was my second time staying at "The Woodzzy". I booked for my birthday over the weekend and it was a much needed getaway for me, my fiance and our dog. We all love the coziness of the cabin. It makes being lazy real easy. Not having phone service was amazing and a get way to disconnect. Thank to Russ for being helpful and accommodating. It also was a pleasure talking to him. I highly recommend this cabin and best believe I will be booking again!

The Wood-see is a lovely rustic cabin! We stayed for 4 nights over New Year’s when it was very cold and Russ kept us supplied with wood. We brought paper and a hatchet for kindling, which were both needed. Hope to make it back to stay again!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Allen and the kids, and had such a pleasant experience. He drove out belongings and some of us down the the glamping site and was kind and welcoming. The tent was clean, comfortable and warm. We had all the firewood we needed, cooking supplies, composting toilet in the outhouse, water. My husband and I had a great time with our son and teenage nephews. Highly recommend the beautiful surrounding scenery of the lake and woods and wildlife. I didn’t get to meet Donna, but she is very friendly and communicative. Thank you for a great stay!

We spent 2 nights and had a nice stay. It was cooler weather so not many people camping, nice and quiet. Rus who manages the campground was awesome. Friendly, helpful, fun guy.
Some feedback for the Hipcamp listing, all we got was an address which lead us to a cabin a mile or so away from the actual site. We had to knock on someone’s door to get help figuring out where to go. I had messaged the host early in the day to let them know when we’d be arriving. No response.

This glamping tent was PERFECT!!! Donna, Alan, and Tyrion 🐱 were perfect hosts. The heater in the tent was great for the colder nights and my puppy loved the land to sniff around. Very close to Rickette’s Glen state park and local to some cidery’s and winery’s. We even checked out a drive-in movie when we were there. If you’re looking to unplug and to have some privacy, this is perfect :)

we had the best weekend at paper mill pines. as people who don’t usually camp, we felt so safe, welcomed, and totally looked after. the hosts were incredible, so kind and genuine the entire time.
the site had everything we could have needed, even after overpacking. the coleman bundle was a must, the bluetooth speaker somehow lasted the whole trip, and the firewood supply never ended. the bathroom was spotless, and the 4x4 drive into the site made it feel like a real little adventure.
just a heads up for t-mobile users, there’s no service, so download your playlists ahead of time. our group of five left with full hearts, full stomachs, and so many good memories. can’t recommend this place enough

I checked in at the main office, took the offer for their (permanent? sleeps 4-6) tent on the property, and the host even kindly helped jump start my car on my last morning as it had had some battery issues recently. Wifi available but spotty far away from the main office, I didn't have a chance to check out the bath facilities.
