Please Note: Property ownership has transferred, but the same friendly host is managing your campsite. Please read the description in its entirety. There is only one campsite on this property, insuring privacy and solitude during your stay. The setting is most private, the river lovely. This setting is wonderful for a quiet family getaway in the woods; it is not 'party' appropriate. The Coweeman River runs clean and pristine. Though only 3' to 4' deep, it provides a refreshing dip on a warm summer's day. It can be used for washing and bathing and could be filtered/treated to make it potable. A locked cabin has a large covered porch overlooking the River that is available for campers, complete with chairs and picnic table. Well mannered, non-digging dogs are welcome (maximum 2) as long as their responsible owners clean up after them. The camp has a pit toilet and we are asking guests to extend its life by only putting poop and pee in it. Please burn your TP or take it out with your trash. There is a fire ring and a tub of firewood available (and refillable) on site for $10. Payment for the woodcutter is through Venmo when you return to the electronic world. If you bring your own wood keep maximum length to 20" to keep fire/ash within ring. There is a covered picnic table (10' X 10' pop up) and chairs at the fire ring. Trash can provided. Please remove your trash. Don't forget to bring drinking water, toilet paper (none is provided), fire starter (though our firewood is seasoned, dry and easy to ignite), headlamp, roasting sticks for them s'mores, water shoes and tromping shoes. The closest store for supplies is 11 miles (20ish minutes) down Rose Valley Road, a small country market with basics, and fuel. There driveway is steep but fine for 2 wheel drive vehicles. When driving out, make sure gate is open so stopping, on the steepest part, isn't required to open it. The rules are listed below under During Your Trip by clicking on 'Host Rules'. By reserving this site the Booker, and all guests, agrees to abide by these rules. Cell coverage is nonexistent/weak, depending on carrier. Great little campground for campers! We brought our travel trailer out for a weekend trip so we could be near Hood River And this campground was great for us. Nicely wooded, small little spots that fit our camper and had space for a table and fire ring. There was a playground near the office that my 3yo enjoyed. Plus the beautiful drive to get there along the gorge. Definitely recommended!

Weekend Trip to Hoodland Basecamp at Scrumpy Farest

We tent camped on one of the RV sites (Potbelly 2) so we could drive up, and we had a fantastic time. Our 3-yr old twins LOVED getting to meet and feed the farm animals, and the people who live on site were very friendly and welcoming. The outdoor bathroom was the cleanest I’ve ever experienced and only a few minutes walk from our site. The showers were a nice feature as well!

This was a beautiful campground and a lucky find! On days when it was 100° on the river, we were tucked under the trees and able to keep cool-er 😀. Clean sites, excellent restrooms, cute store and very nice hosts. We will visit again!

This year was our second visit to Barry's land, it's one of our favorite camp spots. It's beautiful, peaceful, clean, quiet and PRIVATE. Just enough creature comforts like a hand washing spigot, comfortable chairs and shade structures to make things extra nice. The campsite is far enough down from the road that we don't have to worry about our dogs wandering off and I like that the driveway is secured with a locked gate so we know that no random cars are going to come driving down. The prefect spot to get away from it all.

I LOVED tent camping at Snails pace! The spot was super private and easy to find if you follow the extra directions provided by the host. It was so quiet and peaceful, I only heard a handful of cars and no other people the whole time. The space is very well taken care of and all the extra amenities made tent camping SO much easier. The covered porch was huge and was great to have when it rained. The section of river is perfect for swimming and playing and there's a great part for floating down in a tube. I'm already planning a trip back next summer!!

We enjoyed our stay. The campground was very quiet. Good prices we drove to Stevenson had a nice dinner. We also did the mineral spa tub and wrap in Carson just down the road near the golf course. Beautiful area.
