GeerCrest Farm was settled by the Geer family in 1848, and is still owned and stewarded by the family. The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family. The farm features creeks, forests, pastures, orchards and gardens as well as the historic buildings. Currently we have four friendly sheep and a small flock of Mallard ducks to keep us company. The Pioneer Memorial Orchard features over 50 vairieties of pre 1850 apple trees. The Heritage Grove has ten fruit and nut trees that were recognizeds as a memorial the the early pioneers of the nursery trade by Oregon Heritage Tree program. The 20 acre property, offers three tent camp sites Including the Tree House site, as well as two forest cabins and a small forest bunkhouse (sleeps 6). Our peaceful, small farm offers a reflective immersion in nature and history among the occasional quacking of ducks and baaas of sheep. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep. Feel free to roam the farm, but always leave gates as you find them, open or closed. Please say hello to our sheep and barn cats (they may say hello first). Explore the Heritage Grove of historic trees, the Memorial apple orchard and pear glade with varieties circa 1840s, indulge your senses in our medicinal herb garden, and chat with our farm family while they water the veggie gardens, if you so wish! Also, during the rainy season, the tipi isn't waterproof. We are close to Oregon State University campus (15 min bike ride, 30 min walk) and easy access to I-5 corridor (about 15 min drive). We host you as a family of 3 including our young daughter who might try to get you to pick blackberries with her.

As an urban site, you may hear street traffic on Hwy 99, although it's subtle. There is urban light from both a street light and the storage units on the North border of the property. The Tipi itself offers some barrier to these lights, however, if you want to be in a really dark location and see all the stars, this is probably not the site for you. Also, during the rainy season, the tipi isn't waterproof. We are close to Oregon State University campus (15 min bike ride, 30 min walk) and easy access to I-5 corridor (about 15 min drive). We host you as a family of 3 including our young daughter who might try to get you to pick blackberries with her.

These guys put the hip in #hipcamp. Jim was a wonderful and engaging host. We stayed in the caboose and the highlights were hanging out with the host and his friends, the sauna, and hot tub. If you are bringing kids maybe check with the host or Eric on the vibe before coming. It is a beautiful property and you can tell Jim has put a lot of thought, effort, and himself in the place. One of my favorite cabin stays Ive ever experienced! The land is magical and the cabin was so cozy and inviting with thoughtful touches. My favorite place was the loft, waking up to the windows surrounding you with beautiful trees and rain pouring on the roof- can’t get much better. My partner and my dog and I felt very welcomed by Danny and Molly and we hope to return!

The tipi, land, amenities, and bathroom were exactly as described, as shown in pics, but the experience was better! Dan and Rebecca were fabulous hosts, gave us suggestions of local areas to check out, answered questions, made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. Dan even took some archery time with my daughter, very special. The wood stove in the tipi works really well and kept it toasty! Make sure to bring sleeping pads and bags. Our dogs did well, loved it there. Definitely recommend- we’ll be back for sure!

Staying at the flying f ranch was so relaxing and refreshing. The cows did make their way up to the cabin and it was so cool getting to watch them. Brent and Tabitha showed us up to the cabin and were very nice, they were welcoming and had a beautiful property! Definitely get some steaks, eggs and ground beef!! They were delicious!! The porch sitting is awesome as well!

We had a wonderful time staying at this special spot for a friends getaway. Our host was extremely helpful and responsive. The cabin is so well thought-out, and it's lovely to see the creativity and time that has gone into this property. It's so nice to be able to walk right out the door and hike their private trails, listen to the creek, and relax. We arrived right after fire restrictions were lifted, so we were able to use the outdoor fire pit and look at the stars. We also used the sauna every day we were there. It has an electric sauna heater and a small woodstove, so you can choose your heat source, and the short little path down to the cold dip in the creek is genius. Some folks in reviews have mentioned the composting toilets--as some of our group lives entirely off-grid, we were actually taking pictures of their setup because it's really well designed. Just think of all the water you're saving in the world. The property itself is well cared for, and their little dog is such a cutie. We would definitely stay here again!
