Our favorite hikes in the Central Oregon area is Smith Rocks and Chimney Rock. The Prineville reservoir is roughly a 12 minute drive and the starry nights here are something to behold.
Up the road is the most unique petting zoo that we recently found! Find it and you might just be able to hold a baby kangaroo!
Boondocking site means there is no hook-ups or running water so you'll want to bring in your own water and heat if you're here in the colder months.
Your four legged furry family members are welcomed! They must be accompanied at all times and not left on the property alone. The dog run is for you to keep closer tabs on them while relaxing, not for leaving them while going into town or enjoying the area. The dirt is very soft and it wouldn't take very long for them to dig under to get out and go looking for you. The cabin or yurt is also not a pet storage area - with no power or AC, pets are not allowed to be left alone in the dwellings.

I am going to be in early this year because of the lack of snow. I am going in March 22nd. I have taken the block off of the Gers and the camp sites. Once the gate is unlocked I will post it here that the gate is infact unlocked. We could still get some snow so communicate with me in the messages before you make a booking.

The season for the camp sites is from June 1st to end of Sept and the Gers for 2025/2026 winter are blocked out from Nov 15/25 to May 15/26.
Pets allowed, toilets on site, campfires permitted when burn ban is not in place. Now up until this year I have provided Free Firewood. I have quit doing that for a variety of reasons, the least being the cost and the work for me. I am encouraging everyone to purchase a Propane Fire Pit if you don't have one by now.
I am not to the point yet of saying no big dogs. Talk to me if you think your "big dog" might not fit in. I don't like them running thru other campers sites, so just be respectful. Take them for walks along the lake.. No Yappers, no barking dogs, no pain in the butts.
Why would you drive by 46 grocery stores and forget to bring ice?
No loud music. I have changed quiet time to 9:00 PM. If you need to listen to the chaos/stressful music I suggest you start a band or become a DJ.
What I want folks to get out of being here, whether they are camping or staying in the Gers is just to “take a break”.
Relax, appreciate, assess and just listen.
I hope what you hear is the sound of life and of course all the Angels that make up this special piece of Heaven.

Everything about our stay at David's was incredible, starting with him. After pre-arrival instructions/how-to from him, he greeted us upon arrival to give us a lay of the Ger along with a lay of the land. He is a kind, straight-shooting man with an INCREDIBLE story (I'd encourage a chat with him). The Ger and the land were amazing. We had everything we needed for an elevated and unique camping experience within the Ger. Outside, David stewards a prime lakefront beach property, idyllic in so many ways, not the least of which is it's quite serenity. I'll definitely be coming back and encourage you to visit.

We had so much fun sleeping in the yurt at East Lake. David was a welcoming host, and he was so unique and fun to talk with too. His property is so special. The boats and paddleboard were fun and it was fun letting my dog run. He loved it; definitely in his element as a lake dog. The yurt was well equipped with everything you could need to cook and it was clean and comfortable. Obsidion speckled the roads and was fun to collect. May daughter and I walked along the edge of the lake all the way to the resort, which was so peaceful and fun. The camping area seemed so fun too- lots of space. The energy was really special. We want to go back and stay longer! Hopefully next summer!

What a unique and fun experience! I've enjoyed camping at David's property before, but this was our first time staying in the Ger. It has everything we needed for a quick overnighter. We made use of the BBQ on the deck as it was quite hot to cook inside. The access to the private Lakeshore and the water is lovely!

The yurt is beautiful inside and is very nicely furnished. There is a wonderful view of the mountains out the front door. We got to meet the farm doggies, the are very sweet. We greatly enjoyed our stay there.

Our family of four enjoyed staying overnight in this very spacious and comfortable yurt. The beds were comfortable, and the location is beautiful! Allthough it was hot when we arrived, opening the windows, roof vent and turning on the fans cooled the whole yurt down amazingly fast and we had a great night's sleep.

We had a great time in The Osprey yurt. It is well equipped and a cozy place to spend the night. The kitchen is well equipped and it has a fire pit on the deck that is great for smores. The host was very friendly and offered water and other supplies. My daughter said the portapotty was the nicest she had ever seen and it did indeed smell very clean.
We enjoyed the boats that are free to use, walking the beach, and finding obsidian.

Weekend Trip to Twisted Juniper Ranch
This was one of the most unique places I've visited! Truly a experience. Drew was a wonderful host and a great help figuring out the cover on the yurt. I appreciated the proximity to the out house and the extra detail of potted water, water to wash hands and dishes as well as a grill. The yurt was thoughtfully stocked with a kettle, some teas, dish soap, garbage bags, paper towels and cups. It's about 15 min drive to downtown/old bend and about another 10 (25ish min) to the Amphitheatre. I would highly recommend staying here, I hope to be back soon!

We enjoyed a great stay at the Osprey! Beautiful, comfortable yurt, thoughtfully outfitted with everything you want: sitting chairs, couch, electric outlets, refrigerator, toaster oven, hot water kettle, camp stove, utensils, even a gas grill and WiFi! Leave your gear at home!
Beautiful covered deck with picnic table to enjoy the birds and chipmunks.
An assortment of water toys for guests including canoes, row boats, and paddle boards line the beach.
Ultra clean porta potties for guests, as there is no running water.
David is on site and extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Take time to chat with an incredible man to learn about his incredible experiences. He is the real deal!

This place truly is something special. The ger was plenty of space for our 4 person family, and it was very clean and fully stocked with everything we could’ve needed and more! You really do not need to bring much. We did bring queen sheets for the pull out, but there were plenty of blankets available to keep warm in the chilly evenings. It does get chilly in the ger at night, so plan accordingly. The buddy heater was super efficient at warming it early in the mornings. If you’re traveling with littles, you’ll need to keep a close eye on them (as you would), because the decks are built on the side of a hill with a steep drop off. We brought our 18 month old, and it was totally fine.
Dave was an incredible host! He was very generous, fun to speak with, and was there to answer any questions we had. His pup Stormy was sweet with the kiddos. There was lots of wild life, chipmunks, rabbits, deer, eagles, and more. While there we enjoyed kayaking, nearby hot springs, hiking, fishing, and swimming.
If you’re looking for a magical and serene adventure on a beautiful lake, with an awesome host, but one that doesn’t require you to pack for tent camping, this is the spot for you! We are already planning for our return next year.

This place is amazing!!! They have cows on the property which is so cute. I woke up to use the restroom in the AM and there was a hot air balloon taking off on the property next to theirs. The yurt is super spacious and clean and Amy is super nice. Definitely recommend!
